  1. Think about whether or not you will want to use the bike only to commute. If so then that bike should be fine. Just make sure it is the correct size. However if you would like to start doing some proper MTB'ing then consider going for an air shock. Tubeless is the way to go. Just keep in mind you will need to replace the sealant in the tires every 6 months or so
  2. Oh damn that is a whole different topic altogether Say what you want about direct actuation and all that but you can't deny the awesomeness of the M785 xt brakes. But other than that mostly agree.
  3. Previous bike I converted to jagwire cable kit and it made a HUGE difference. Luckily the scott has internal cable routing
  4. Ok my bad I thought that was obvious, cause that is actually the first thing I did. Didn't really think of tubeless as an upgrade, more like a necessity.
  5. I have always enjoyed upgrading my bike part by part over time, gives me something to do and research. Also each new part just gives me more motivation to go riding and enjoy the upgrade. Delayed gratification I suppose.
  6. So I just bought a new Scott Scale 910 recently, and I have not seen a thread like this (please correct me if i'm wrong). So far my first upgrade will be the grips to a pair of ESI extra chunkies, what has/would yours be?
  7. How does that work with a front derailleur?
  8. Happy riding! Tubeless is the way to go for sure.
  9. I did the same thing, I watched as the guy did the eft from his phone on the fnb app, and as soon as he submitted it i got the SMS. Not really sure how someone can fake that? But apart from that I met the guy and his friend on a previous occasion and we had a long chat about cycling in general, and I just got a good vibe about them as well. It's always a risk selling or buying second hand, never sell to dodgy characters!!
  10. I seem to remember that last year capacity was reached as well but people could still enter on race day. However I am not 100% sure if that was the case but thinking about trying my luck.
  11. Ah sweet! Enjoy, I think this is going to be an awesome ride, great geometry, great components and really light. Your wife will understand
  12. Just under a grand and they weigh about 250g
  13. Pick up this baby after work today! With these pedals
  14. Well, that is just like, your opinion man. Mountain biking is not supposed to be a fashion parade, but it seems that it is turning into one. As long as you are not a blue bull and have a blue ball sack under your car I reckon you are ok.
  15. I don't understand why people think a saddle bag is homo. My brother is always giving me **** about it mentioning some obscure rules of cycling. I am not talking about those things that you can fit a small chinese person inside, just big enough for a tjoop, tool, plugs and a mandela. On several occasions I have had to bail people out. I would rather be called a homo that to be stuck on the trail.
  16. I sometimes find that I need to just get on the bike with no intention of going anywhere, and no way of tracking distance. Then just ride around and enjoy the scenery, play around with the bike. Try and wheelie, do stoppies, bunny hop over stuff like we used to do as kids. Not because you have to but because it is fun!
  17. It's not something you will replace regularly so I would suggest spend a couple of bucks extra en get the slx
  18. I would vote for pads. Try sanding them with fine sanding paper, if that does not help just get some proper resin pads they not that expensive. Also try to lube your pistons, if you take out the pads get some lube in there and then gently push back the pistons before replacing the pads.
  19. Hi Guys, I would like to join as well, whenever possible.
  20. Hey Daniel, definitely interested. I use to go out on solo rides but finding it hard to keep motivated on my own. I stay in Olympus, very close to Faerie Glen, and my average speeds are very similar to yours.
  21. First 70 km ever, gonna be awesome from the sound of the trail description.
  22. Have alwyas revieved great service from you guys, hope it stays the same!
