MAYBE YOU SHOULDN'T GENERALIZE ???? - I assume by your comments you are refering to older people than yourself ? I'm 59 done 18 Argus's, 3 Epics, 7 Sani2c's, etc, stec, and you know what ........... I have never throw/littered anything or shouted at anyone to "hold their line" - on MTB races I have given the odd "passingright" as a cursory notice of my intention to pass. I might add that sometimes those rash brash wet behind the ears so called cyclists have ruined many rides for many genuine cyclists
  2. Why not take a few days off and do a road trip with the bike ?? It would be an adventure of note !!!
  3. Only a near miss - this time - with a quick frantic ringing of my bell - yes I have one - and a hurried shout of choice words. I was surprised as all of you - roadie-arses using the cycle path - what next ? Maybe they will great when passing and ride single file or sensibly ?? - yea right - dream on !!!
  4. 84kg rider on an old 15kg mtb over a weenie roadie-arse on a sub 8kg bike will always win ! Now this is critical mass !!!!
  5. A semi-decent torque wrench is about 20% of the cost of your saddle - doesn't make sense does it ?
  6. Last Thursday afternoon cycling home on the cycle path running thru Paaden Island I was almost hit head on by a roadie-arse cyclist riding 3 abreast chatting to his 2 mates on his left. It happened where the path goes over the bridge over the waterway - nowhere to go to take evasive action due to the concrete walls either side of the path. I see this group of Lance Armstrong wannabees - normally 6 or 8 of them all dressed up in yellow and black lycra kit quite often. Guys 2 abreast on the cycling path is bad enough - but 3 ???? and the 3 were behind two other riders which more than likely blocked their vision of anyone comming the other way. All I have to say to this bunch of plonkers dressed like girlie bunble bees is - if you insist on chatting next to your mates, at least have the decency to look out for cyclists coming the other way, you only think you own the path !
  7. Unfortunately I did the first 3 Epics when the value was sort of acceptable and no more because I also have now done 6 sani2c and I'm afraid at that price for me it's like the Epic - a big rip-off. They do not deserve to get the numbers to sustain the race
  8. Dude ............get a life !
  9. To all the guys and gals responsible for spoiling us cycle commuters on the cycle path at Woodbridge Island this morning with free cuppachino and muffins ............ you guys rock. What a pleasant way to start the day - just made it difficult to leave the happy group and go off to work. You certainly picked the best weather and best place see you at the West Coast Challenge for sure !
  10. Wow thanx for the instant response I'll start to phone around the contacts you have given me but will continue to try find my old bike - bit of nostalgia here !!! The green frame is really nice - mine was plain metalic green without the criss-cross white pattern on it
  11. Hi Guys, This is a long shot - I'm looking to try trace and purchase my old Metalic Green and White Tommasini road bike which I traded in at Tour de France Cycles (got next to nothing for it - should have kept it ! ) some 10 years back. I have since moved to Cape Town and would really like to track her down and buy her back...........so if you know of anyone that has an old bright metaic green and white Tommasini lying around or have seen one in a shop some where I would really appreciate a heads up.
  12. Don't dig at Farmer Glen - rather the newbie entry system that couldn't cope with everyone hitting register as fast as they could ! Yes I also experienced problems but got in and paid and now can't wait
  13. The best way to fix this thorny issue is to ride a miuntain bike fitted with tubeless tyres and slime - on a bad day my record is 9 front 5 back on the way to work - still no flat though !
  14. SCR - commuting - come on guys ............... its street fighting out there at the best of times !!! Me on my MTB , hairy legs , back pack , miss matched clothes on the way home and anyone or anything is fair game - not that i always catchenpass But I just love it when I pass those stuckup roadies with a clang on bell (yes I do have one )say howzit and ride on buy with no response from Mr. Lycra ! And I just love it when they do respond and the race is on - interval training at it's best So you guys who get passed on the BRT route by a very old geezer who rings his bell at you - that's me - say HI !!! we could just have a jam session of note !
