  1. Pity I got to work before the sun came up !!!
  2. On your own with no back up !!! We're not worthy !
  3. Done the Jock 3 times and every time the final stage to me was the hardest - maybe I had blown by then !!!
  4. I got taken down in February at Salt River Circle - 3weeks before argus = worst ever time for Argus in 10 years Container truck in right hand lane coming from town suddenly turned left on exiting the circle to Voortrekker rd. Fortunately I was knocked off my bike which the truck then pinned and dragged for 39m ( I mesured it ) before being forced to stop as the bike had locked up his left front wheels forcing him into the pavement. His response - did I knock you down - hell no I just parked my bike under your front wheels !!! Lots of road rash and some broken ribs - all sorted now. Even got money out of the truckers insurance to help pay towards a replacement bike !! Now I stay away from that area on my comute to work !!
  5. I have a 26er - 3x10 and a 29er 2x10 ------------- and you know what I love both of them !! 2x10 just feels more efficient and yes 3x10 gives 1 more stop at each end of the range - so what ?? And I'm begining to get a feel for the type of track each is best suited for ! So ................ just maybe the 2x10 is making me a more efficient rider ??? Now I'm sure that will open a fair bit of descussion
  6. Took my brand new KTM out of the box at Underberg - rode around the field a few times to make sure everything worked and then rode Sani2c the next morning - best Sani2c I've ever had Use the new one
  7. Thanx for all the feed back - now I need to find which one is easiest to use !
  8. Hi All, What soft ware is available for editing GpPro Videos - I need something easy to use ?
  9. Stop the meaningless medals! Please donate the money at the end of the Race. Maybe this sort of comment is why we no longer get goodie bags with " meaningful items" and free Tee shirts for entering cycling races. In the "old" days I remember getting free Tee shirts and or goodie bags that were really nice. My first 10 Argus races the goodie bag collection was a high light and yes I still enjoy and collect the "meaningless" medals to hang with all the others I have collected over 30 years of cycling. Road running races would appear to get way more for their entrance fee than cycling ............ now why is that when the cycling entrant numbers are much bigger than road runners ??? .. maybe because of the mentality that goes with the title of this thread - just my 50 cents worth
  10. Weighs more than you can imagine - got a hernia trying to lift one up at Canal Walk Bike shop !
  11. Yip - it's on my list for next year too seeing as how it clashes with the 2 day "W2W' event - maybe if they had announced this early enough before entries for the 2 day were in ??
  12. It's like insurance premiums dude - you only know it's value when you need it After ojne winter ride I landed up pulling 9 devil thorns out of my tires when I got home .........each one would have been a flat - evidence the white Stan's dot after pulling - thank you Oh Great God of Sealants Don't leave home with out sealant - my 50c worth !
  13. Yip - this wheel set up works my S725 wrist unit is 100% accurate with cadence and distance .............. it's just the frikken HR that spikes and sometimes shows 205+ bpm !!!!. Tried moving the strap, new battery and even wearing a tee shirt between stap and cycling jersy to prevent static - HR still spikes !
  14. I'll be in Sedgefield - where and what time you guys meeting/leaving from ?? It would be nice to tie up for a ride or two !
  15. Well done Boet ...... pity more of us don't have the balls to do this - it's so much easier to complain on the forum - kudus to you !!!!
  16. Except for what you consume - use to water your garden - wash you bike etc etc !!!!
  17. If you ride a SS ............. you have to apear to be rough and tough and retro and hard core ............... no ???
  18. Having done 3 Epics in the original format - would I want to ride again ???? Only if it returned to the Knysna to CT route - be it a coastal route or inland it doesn't matter And then of course I would somehow justify the entry fee and the training ( did anyone mention the cost of the training and getting to the start line on top of the entry ?? ) This event has definately lost it's soul !
  19. Maybe the first one in 2004 had too much sand roads - but it was still a blast - the years after that the route improved but I still enjoyed all the Epics I did - mainly because they were a journey from Knysna to CT and not loops arroud CT made exceptionally hard to justify KV making more money out of reduced logistics !
  20. The Epic has definately lost it's sole - I did 2004, 2006 & 2007 and could see a change over the years already - in those days it was an adventure - to ride from Knysna to Cape Town off road - you achieved something - now it's a slog in my "own back yard" with the organizer trying to get as much money out of the event and to have as high a drop out as possible. In those years entries sold out in a matter of hours and were snatched up if they became available again. If you want a race with sole, value for money and a truely warm fuzzy feeling - do the Sani2c !
  21. As a regular Platlett Donor I would cycle to the JHB unit after work, sit for over an hour on the machine watching videos and munching cookies and drinking Coca-Cola whilst they removed the white cells they needed and then cycle home, because the donation date co-incided with my commuting schedule. This was never a problem and I was never refused - maybe they were desperate? So why not donate plateletts instead of blood and then you can race within 48 hours of the donation ? This way you know your donation is helping a cancer patient somewhere and your blood is not being used to save the life of some low life hyjacker/thief/crook/criminal who has been shot by the police and needs blood to survive - just my take on the issue - use it don't abuse it !
  22. The World's most technical ride ......No If you are scared of heights .............maybe the scariest ride Would I like to do it..............I would sell my soul to do it

    CWC Rock

Are you buying bits for your bike or a used web site ? I've only had good service from CWC - and I actually don't care what their web site looks like it's the bike bits I'm interested in
  24. Don't understand how they can run out of water - they knew how many riders were expected and the weather conditions and as for the coke table at the end - it's the most pisspoor attempt at an end table I've seen un a long time - I couldn't find a cup with more than 25% full so when I took a second one I also got the smack on the back of the hand ritual. Personally I only rode with one bottle which was almost empty at the end so a cold cup of coke would have ended the day nicely - thank you. Guys for the entry money we are paying we are not getting anything back - yes I know times are hard but for the back markers who really need water at ALL the water points the Burger sucks big time That "rate you race" site ....why don't we try set up a similar site for the "worst race of the year" to warn all the newbies who may get chased away because of races like the Burger ???
