  1. Get over what ? Nowhere did i say the bikers were right in what they did. I certainly do not condone what they did. I simply was reacting to those who immediately jumped on the bandwagon and condemned the bikers and all of a sudden there is an outcry that every biker is bad. Nobody, on here, me included knows what transpired before the video starts. Did the biker just go asking to get flattened ? Did the car driver cause trouble before that and a biker saw red and did something stupid that then spiraled out of control, once he got hit by the car. Was the guy in the SUV drunk ? Was he a victim of the bikers abusing him and his family ? What went wrong to spark this all. Did the driver give the biker the finger and the biker got clever and things spiraled out of control ? Who knows because none of us do. And no, i am not going to try pull over taxi's or whatever and take matters into my on hands. Its not the right thing to do.
  2. Oh for Pete's sake get a life.................I am simply trying to prove a point that all motorcyclists/bikers are not all bad, and used this forum and cyclists, which is what this forum is all about as a very apt example as cyclists and motocyclists share a lt of the same dangers on the roads as bikes do. They also hang out together and go for group rides together, and generally stick together, so the mob justice bit works the same. I have witnessed cyclists pulling vigilante moves on a car driver who fingerd and vloeked them on a morning ride when they caught him at a robot...........so the example i use is very similar. So many people jump on the motorcyclist bandwagon that they all bad, that they ride like idiots, that they gonna kill themselves blah blah, but maybe should take a look around them and wake up. Not all motorcyclists are a danger to themselves or others. Not all ride like twats. Not all think they are Rossi on a bike. Not all can ride all that well. Some can and some can't. Some are idiots, some are not. All have family, wives and kids, just like all the cyclists of who, some are a danger to those around them let alone themselves. Some ride like twats, some are just selfish @ssholes and ride 2/3 abreast on busy roads and don't give a continental about anyone else. Some think cause they have an 80k bicycle they are better than joe soap out there who is on a much cheaper bicycle. Some are very courteous and obey road rules and are generally good people, just like the average biker or the average car driver. It doesn't make all bikers or cyclists or SUV drivers bad. Its the person on that particular bike/cycle/car who is an @sshole, not every person on one.
  3. We all sit here and make a noise about how bad bikers are blah blah, just like another forum goes on about how bad cyclists are blah blah. What actually happened, if anything did happen to set the motorcyclists off ? Was it a bike ride where they had roadclosure and the oke in the SUV was where he wasn't supposed to be ? We don't know that. Was the biker just a chop who decided that morning that he was going to go out and find an SUV Driver to abuse ? We don't know that either. Lest say these were all cyclists, bicycle race, Sattelite classic, no road closure, and for some reason cyclist no 16302 decided that a particular black SUV had hootd at him for riding 3 abreast and p!ssed him off big time, so decides in his stupidity to block the SUV and the SUV bumps him off, and all his mates from the hub see this happen. Shortly thereafter, comes a stop steet, and there are a few cars waiting, including one particular black SUV. So said group/bunch/mob of thehub cyclists that have just seen no 16302 get flattened(whether the cyclist was right or wrong), decide that they are now gonna surround the SUV and confront the driver, and ask him how his family is etc,who panics and rides over a few cyclists and their bikes in his haste to escape the mob and speeds off. We now have a number of flattened cyclists, one dead and about 300k worth of written off bicycles. Cyclists carry on with their ride/race, and low and behold, a few km down the road, there is a truck that has jacknifed and the cars are backed up, including one particular SUV which by now has bicycle paint on it. So, our group/mob of cyclists from thehub catch up with Mr SUV, who is now completely trapped, and can go nowhere and so they stop and politely ask him if he is ok, after the tw@t cyclists had got in his way and damaged his SUV. After that, the group/bunch/mob of cyclists that had just seen a number of their buddies flattened, politely greeted the driver and wished him well and carried on with their race.
  4. How convenient..................
  5. Maybe they can deal with the tw@ts on bicycles at the same time.............
  6. I see it daily where cyclists abuse motorists, and the cyclist was in the wrong. So all cyclists must be TWATS then.
  7. You must be a bad @ss biker to do something like that. Obviously you are in the wrong cause you are on a bike in the first place. Because you are on a motorcycle you are wrong in the first place and guilty as charged. You have less rights than the car drivers, cause they really do OWN the road.
  8. I agree with you on some of your points. However, again, much like this forum, its not all bikers who are bad, same as not all cyclists jump stopstreets. Same argument applies as there are way more drivers in cars who break road rules and drive like @ssholes than bikers by volume as there are more cars out there. I ride to work and back everyday of my life by bike, as i refuse to be stuck for hours in JHB traffic. Not a day goes by that some idiot turns in front of me without signalling, not a day goes by that i am going along, at the speed limit(with a valid number plate) and some idiot is tailgating me trying to force their way through. Ja Ja, how many times have a group of cyclists or cyclist caught up to a car that has just given them the finger or whatever and then had to stop in traffic shortly threafter. Poor little kittens in Lycra that turn into an angry mob of cyclists and wanna bliksem a motorist...........it works both ways. I agree, if the bikers caused k@k and the driver accidentally bumped the oke, caused he braked, then its not his fault, however, why would the bikers have caused *** with the guy for nothing, and i mean for ansolutely nothing at all ? Two sides to every story. Very seldom, even with "HardCore bikers" that they will just look for trouble for no reason at all with some random guy in an SUV. We all know as cyclists that drivers in cars and SUV's think they own the road and you as a cyclist must get out their way cause their brain goes wonky when they have an expensive car protecting them, and you on two wheels must get out their way. Well, breaking news for you all...........its no different for bikers. They also get pushed around by cars, just as much.
  9. Ok, fine. What did the driver do to p!$$ the biker off ? Did he cause k@k first maybe ? Who knows ? Still doesn't justify knocking someone down. I wanna hear the same argument on here next time a cyclist dies cause they gave some motorist the middle finger and the motorist then got the hell in and swerved into them.
  10. I see this type of thing daily in my travels to and from work on my bike where cars tailgate you to intimidat eyou to get out the way, even though you are behind a car that is holding you up. Normal sensible people turn into @$$holes when they get into their SUV's and big German sedans as well.
  11. I saw the same as you, and it looked like there were words exchanged before that. Who knows. Not getting aggresive either, just gets my back up, being a cyclist and motorcyclist that bikers are always wrong(to non bikers at least), yet on this forum a cyclist is always right. Had this been a cycle ride and the SUV drilled a cyclist then rode over a bunch taking off, you reckon guys on this forums would be calling them TWATS ? I have my doubts.
  12. Much like people behind computer screens on forums who get all brave, as well as the thousands in cars who are all tough and aggressive all of a sudden when they get behind the wheel.
  13. NOBODY asks to be flattened by a car. Much the same as no cyclist asks to be flattened by a car. Every time a cyclist gets flattened by a car its the cars fault. Everytime a motorbike gets nailed its the bikers fault............Strange how that is hey. As to flattening more of the bikers..........yeah right. And then you would get out and moer them all as well......
  14. Check this out: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=319_1380522846 Then check this out and read what happened. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2438620/Shocking-video-Range-Rover-crashing-bikers-surround-vehicle-annual-street-ride.html It was an annual Street bike ride in New York. Why did the SUV driver have to ride so close behind the bikes anyway ? If the bike puts on brakes, things end up worse than a bumper bashing. Believe me, being tailgated on a bike is not a lot of fun...........
  15. Also got me confused...............
  16. No Urban Legend at all. My oath. I race Motocross and so does my son who was a little younger than the kid at the time. Have both been racing for many years. It really and truly did happen. I knew the kid and his parents, albeit not house friends but we would often chat at racing etc. Couple of kids innocently messing around with those small aluminium scooters with skateboard wheels. Who would have though something so simple and small could end up hurting a kid with such immense talent and skill on a motorcycle so much bigger and heavier. He was knocked out and lay on a steel plate unconcious in the heat of summer till the medics arrived. He sustained nasty burns from the hot steel plate as well. Really Really tragic, even more so for the family as his younger sister was also severly imparied and in a wheelchair and unable to do much for herself. Not sure but i think her case was from birth.
  17. A good few years ago, probably around 2000-2002 there was a kid here in SA, who was a huge talent in Motocross, at the age of around 10-12 years old. Was head and shoulders better than anyone around in his age group. Really nice kid and family too. The kid had talent and was really going places. Bright future in the sport for sure, probably even at international level. Anyway one day he was playing around with one of those small scooter things with skateboard wheels, and crashed, at walking pace. No Helmet, sustained a Head injury, leaving him with permanent brain damage. Poor guy has never ridden a motorcycle again for years, and now rides but as a very small shadow of his former self, as a result of a knock on the head from that small crash on the scooter. He is still nowhere near being a normal person.....True Story. So to those out there who think riding without a helmet is a good idea, go for it, be my guest. Just don't do it anywhere where you can stuff things up for the rest of us who do wear our helmets.
  18. Ever heard the Saying:"Stupid hurts" ?? It applies to this no helmet topic.
  19. If there is space for the rider to move over a little so a pass can be made, Ask politely if you can go past, if that fails, maybe be polite one more time and ask again(they may not have heard), a little louder. If that fails, you then shout coming through and go for it. Thats what i do, and thats that. If they get bumped in the process...........it will be a lesson for them. Best of all though is to be ahead of the slower riders and un-clippers from the start.
  20. Nothing went over my head. Lets get it straight, you like the spruit, i don't. Simple. I am sure there are many other things i like and you don't and vice versa so why make it an issue. You can be glad that not every single MTB rider in JHB likes the spruit...........if they did, it would be like the N1 at 7am.
  21. Well go ride the spruit then. You seem to think its the bee's knee's when it comes to mountain biking so go for it...........I also don't particularly enjoy spinning all the time, but it sure beats the stench of human faeces and vagrants along the spruit. Go ride the spruit...........
  22. You know the words.............f you, f you too, f off............smack(assault)............ More than likely the dude who got bumed by the woman biker said or did something the male companion took offense to and got smacked.........I may be completely wrong but one would think that he must have said or done something to have been klapped. Right or wrong. I do not condone the assault either...........Just saying
  23. At last someone who feels the same about the Spruit as i do. I said something similar last week on another Spruit post, and got slammed for it. Was told how great the place is and i don't know anything and that the spruit is a better place to be with one less rider(me) on it...........I would rather go do a spinning class than ride the polluted/over squatted/faeces infested spruit with punchy and his mates.
  24. Sounds like your typical story that has three sides to it. His side, their side and what really happened...........My guess is she bumped him(probably by accident), he swore or had something to say that her male companion didn't like and words were exchanged, following which the male companion biffed him one.
  25. You go and have fun.................Be Safe..............
