The little bit where you say "there are bad spots not to be ridden alone" says it all. I have no need to cycle past loads and loads of vagrants, living along the spruit. Who in their right mind enjoys cycling along, the smell of human faeces, piles of faeces, litter, vagrants washing clothes in the spruit, some standing naked while they wash the only clothes they own. Thats besides competing with dogs and dogsh!t as well. Often there are blocked drains/sewer pipes leaking into the spruit that you have to ride through. Really enjoyable ride, always wondering if its safe to go around the next corner or is a mugger is waiting for you. You guys who love your spruit rides can have it all to yourselves. Not my cup of tea......... Then again, each to his own.

Well Done to those involved. Justice was served, but being the pessimist i am, I doubt the would be bike jackers out there, even know that one of their mates has bought himself a life in Prison for 10 years, all expenses paid. Food, Clothing, Warm Bed, Free Medical, TV, the works.............Where before he lived along the Spruit.......... I for one would rather ride my spinning bike than ride along the Spruit...............Can't think of many places worse than the Spruit.

Had a wheel converted to Tubeless at my LBS 3 weeks ago for R200. That excludes tire as i supplied the tire. Thats rim tape, sealant and tubeless valve plus Labor.

My Thoughts exactly. Surely in an accident when someone has been injured, you may not move the vehicles, and the people involved need to be there until the police say they can leave ? I hope this b!tc% gets what she deserves..................I really do.

Very adult like approach here...........If you don't get out my way I moer you............Face it dude, you on the wrong side of the road, so technically are in the wrong, so need to give way to someone who is obeying the rules of the road. If everybody is going to go around refusing to give way for anyone, can you imagine the carnage. IMHO, both cyclists in that kind of situation need to give each other room.

By virtue of the fact that the law allows bicycles to be ridden on most roads(excl Freeways and main routes like the N1 etc), a cyclist thereby has the same rights, and should be afforded the same courteousness from motorized vehicles as a car driver rexpects from a Massive 50 Ton truck. a motorist has no more rights to ride over or knock down a cyclist than a 50T truck has of riding over Mr Impatient in his German Saloon. Lastly, how many bicycles will it take to put the same stresses on the road as a 1.2 Ton car with 225 Width Wheels producing 100+ Horsepower ? Couple of Thousand maybe ? Therefore, wear and tear on the roads will be a helluva lot less, so then bicycles should be paying proportionally, so what's the license on a Sandton 4x4 cost ? R780 a year, divided by 2 Thousand bicycles = 39 Cents per bicycle, maybe less. Where do I sign up and pay my 39c License ?

No Way IMHO he is gonna admit............He swore under oath to Federal prosecutors and in court. If he comes clean now, and has lied under oath, he will be hauled up on perjury charges, alongside all the legal issues that will arise from people who paid him millions of $$$$$ believeing he was clean. Having cheated and lied about it to get all that money is basically fraud. He might as well slit his own wrists. Personally I hope they hang hing by his scrotum outside the White House until he perishes from Dehydration...........biggest liar and fraud the World has ever seen.

What a load of BS..........Maybe you should try Mountain biking sometime. I do both, road and MTB, and 3 hrs MTB racing is definitely tougher than 3 hours on the road................

I have been seeded in class W. I have always prior to going and focussing on MTB races been somewhere between Group A and Group C. Havn't done a road race since 2008, except for the 2012 Satellite challenge 2 weeks ago, so all those old results don't count, nor do some pretty good MTB race times at the Kalahari challenge. I have asked for a re-seeding and they sent me documentation to fill in etc and am submitting my time from teh Satellite challenge and my MTB races this year which they will look at as well. Apparently they only charge you the R150 if you are re-seeded and accept it, so you got nothing to lose by asking.

Awesome Post and to the point. I recently read a Journalists report on Livestrong and what it does and where all the money it makes goes. You will be really surprised at what they actually do and where money actually goes. They do not give people with cancer any financial assistance, nor do they pay or do cancer research. Its all about awareness, which to me is a waste of time. Everybody knows Cancer is bad. I will try find that particular report and post it. Livestrong is basically in my eyes an organisation that covers a bad boys @ss and hides the dark side of LA. I have read and researched extensively on LA, since 2002, and I truly believe he is one of the biggest Fraud's the world has ever seen. I truly hope he gets what he deserves and has to pay back every cent he ever made out of cycling using dope. He has defrauded and deceived the World for years. For that he should be held accountable as would anybody else who commited a crime and Fraud.

Personally, I think he should give back every single cent he has made directly and indirectly from cycling. That means Prize money, endorsements, and all other money/valuables he has made from fraudelently winning 7 TDF's. What it amounts to is nothing more than full scale fraud, the likes of which the sporting world has never seen. Crime does not pay, and in my eyes he should be punished exactly the same as anyone else who may have defrauded people/companies or whoever out of mega millions of $$$$$$$$. Which, pretty much means having his sphincter re-arranged inside a US federal prison. Who knows, maybe he can get himself onto America's hardest prisons cycling team.

Nobody is ripping anyone or anything. I also ripped nothing for myself. He may be unlucky, and he is a legend as you say, that I agree. Fact of the matter is, everyone crashes, regardless whether you are a beginner or Greg Minnaar for that matter. Everyone crashes from time to time. Everyone makes mistakes, although the Pro's sometimes seem to make less...... So my comment stands that he may well have run out of talent............which is short for "He may well have made an error in judgement and crashed................" It Happens to the best of them.

Anyone ever wonder if he maybe just plain ran out of talent............. Everyone, even the best in the world make mistakes and crash. Not everyone will always admit to it being their own fault, and blame their equipment. It is entirely possible that he may well have simply been pushing too hard and got out of shape and crashed. It Happens to the best of riders.......... Not saying it is the case, simply asking............ Try Max Biaggi for an example. Never ever lost lost a race or crashed when its his fault. Always the tires or some or other part of the equipment gets blamed.
