I'm in the same boat bru TOO MUCH TO CHOOSE FROM 2013 Axis A10 = +-13k 2013 Titan 29er Pro, best specced = TBA tho and for 17.5K you can get a carbon momsen sl629 Anyways..maybe some patience will yield a better result...as you wont be the only one stil waiting

I'm sitting in exactly the same boat...and its a k@k boat at that. Have a look at this that I've posted http://www.thehubsa....s-momsen-al529/ Should give you an idea whats good for about R15k I think the biggest problem is being spoilt for choice and I stil get that "mine is bigger thatn yours" feeling so you don;t want to make a mistake with buying the "wrong" bike.. Take a look at the Axis A10 2013, they saying it should come in at around the 13K mark which leaves you with some cash for a tjooplis setup and a leka computer for around 15k. On the other hand I can get a 2012 Giant xtc 29er 1 for 13K with similar spec to the Axis..the Giant is a "better" made frame, it boils down to which bikes geometry will suit me better. Also silverback is having their launch in cpt on the 6 oct..got an invite, this should be interesting..like the look of their new 27.5's but yet again a spanner is being thrown in the works :whistling: also I've seen that they've "downgraded" from 2012 so their bikes would have to come in cheaper than this year. I'm also waiting for Titan to launch their 29er PRO..bike looks sick and is AWESOMELY specced. I'm searching for a new bike..its been 6weeks already but ja I've stumbled across the Axis A10 and i must say the 2013 model looks like something special. http://www.axis-bike...dtail/a-10-29er Does anyone have the current A10? any reviews good or bad would be appreciated. According to Tread mag May/June 2012 this bike really is something as it completed the 2012 Epic. The 2013 model should retail for about 13K.. is this good value or a k@k buy ? I can get the Giant xtc 1 29er for 13K.. What you guys think?

I think the biggest problem with looking for a "GOOD" bike for around R15K is that there is so damn much to choose from! and the fact that the arrival of the 2013 models are around the corner hasn't made life any easier!!!! New Axis A10: Reba, X9/X0 groupset, crappy wheels +- R13k New Titan 29er PRO: Reba, FULL XT, crest wheels +- R15K New Scott 940: +-R15.5K Looking at the new Silverback vida 1, MASSIVE downgrade IMO !! Reba, SLX/XT, crest wheels, I wouldnt pay more than R15K :eek: As for giant, thats yet to be seen Merida big9 XT, Fox, full XT, merida wheels R16.5K What to do, what to do! and it seems like no one is ready to let the "older" 2012 models go at a cheaper price I'm going on 5 weeks without a bike, luckily the motjie is keeping me busy , in the gym I might add Lets see what happens in the next few weeks, once again I'm back to square 1

Had another look at the scott 940....DANMMMMMM was tempted to get one as i could get it R2000 cheaper from a different LBS ;-). only thing thats a bit off putting is the fox fork, the guy said it needs to be serviced abt every 50 hours, is this true???? thats abt every 2.5 months, GEEEEEESSSSSSSAASSSSSSSS In anycase, I hope the new Ish arrives soon as the wait is killing me and the running is killing my knees! I checked that ja..but the orange on the storm 2 looks like ASS..the storm has red in it which makes it faster ;-)hahaha

@ AARON - I'm doing this purchasing on my student budget which im sure has made me spend more on petrol which I could of used to purchase a bike already. I've had a look now at the silverback storm 2...hehehehe, can I get the storm 2 but on the storm 1 frame? The reviews on the storm 1 sound really really positive and I'm sure it'll be more or less the same for the storm 2 as just the fork and groupset are different. Does anyone know where I can find the storm 2 for a good price? i think R22k(LBS) is a bit steep and way over budget The wait for the 2013 stock to arrive is driving me INSANE and its only been 10 days since my wait has started. Storm 1 is a good bike but its above my budget unless you can organise 1 for me for about 15K

@ JANmtb: RE the Titan carbon 29r race its weight is 13.52 As for the spec on the 2013 model alloy 29er pro I hope what they showed me was true There's so many options on the market I really dont know which bike to go for anymore?? do I buy now or should I wait for the 2013 models to arrive

So I got my bike sold, WHOOP WHOOP!!! and went to go gert my new bike the weekend...but to no avail :-( They did however show me the new titan 29er PRO and MY EFFEN WORD! the bike is beautifull! only problem is they'll only be arriving mid to end september.. Some of the specs: Full XT Reba fork ZTR Arch wheels I hope it is this way cos my name is right ata top of the wanted list!! If its not what I expect it to be I'll go with the giant! :-)

I know the XTC is a much better frame ja, thats what drew me to it. BUT I can always get another frame later on and spec it with the full XT from the titan.. I've got some possible buyers coming to view the bike this weekend..................and if all goes well, I'll be on my new machine next week :-) :-) :-) Just got a JAGS deal on the XTC from my LBS R13000...shhhh don't tell anyone!!!To krap my kop even more the lbs has just thrown a spanner in the works by giving me the titan 29er PRO alloy(Same fork but with full XT including hubs) for the same price(I think the frame is *** though)...Super tempted as i can always get a carbon frame in a few months time ;-) Any thoughts on the titan? So I popped in @ my LBS yestday looking to do the deal on the giant xtc1.....................................he then advised me to try a longer high rise stem to check the difference..Haven't tried it yet as I feel I've already made up my mind with going for the xtc1..will be trying it out later today tho...you never know Another LBS said I should look at the scott 940..Its about R2500 more than my budget but they say the Fox fork thats specced on the 940 with its intermediate remote lockout is about double the price of the reba specced on the giant/scott/momsen I've been looking at so maybe the scott 940 is worth the extra bucks.. I never knew that trying to sell a 26" MTB specced with some good **** would be so hard to sell ma nou ja GIANT XTC 1 it is............or so I THINK

So I've popped into my LBS and came across a large(19inch) Giant XTC 26er frame for ONLEEEE R2499. was thinking of getting this frame and then just tranfering my existing parts across. I'm struggling to sell my bike as it's only 4 months old now. The LBS advised that it would of sold easier if it was older and I'd got my money out of it. I mean to loose R3000 in 4 months to me is ridiculous UNLESS I just close my eyes and take the knock????? The only problem is that i don't know if its going to fit me better than the silverback i currently own. Giving it time till this weekend else ima go for the giant XTC 29er

Where can I get this done?

ALL I can say is MY NERVES IS KLAAR!HAHAHA..the geometry on the silverback I've got now doesnt suit me..the difference in height between the saddle and handle bars is too big hence the feeling of topling over the front of the bike. I've got a 70mm riser stem on and it makes a difference but stil not what I want. if I look at my setup my front end will need to lift by about 25-35mm(added to that of the riser stem) to increase the "feeling" I've got on the bike. I have sat on a fw 29er's and it does feel better suited to me, haven't ridden one yet tho...

I still havent made my choice as I'm still trying to sell my 26er. and after reading https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/118626-why-do-they-still-make-26-inch-bikes-if-29ers-are-clearly-the-way-forward/ I don't know if I should just get another 26" frame or if I should just close my eyes and go 29er?????????????????????????????????
