  1. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2619/4040289530_e8a24d6efe.jpg I love that xc dude in the back round http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2442/4040304490_f717980b9b.jpg Good to see the old horse in good use I had a frustrating weekend. Raced the GP DH champs at Helderkruin. Had issues with my gears skipping (very pedaly course) on Sat. Put a new shift cable on last night, set the indexing, rode it a bit... tried to pre stretch it a bit, checked the hanger etc... but I reckon the derailleur (105) is toast. Kept skipping in my race run Worst part is, I have a Saint shifter and derailleur on the way I learned one more lesson from this weekend: if you want to compete on a decent level, you need good parts. Not some good parts, you need a completely dialed bike. Don't mess around with sketchy sh*t, it will cost you time! Fun weekend of racing though, ended with 2nd in Elite.
  2. I wear DC, got hooked up by them a few weeks ago. Stoked! Rocking the "Tactic mid" for riding. It's BMX specific shoe, works a treat! I own The Riot BMX shop, which my brother (Greg ) runs during the day. While he does that, I work at Mikes Bikes in Greenside. Mechanic, sales, receptionist, pump track builder... you name it... I do it They're also helping me out for the '10 DH season, hooking me up on a 2010 Glory frame!
  3. Put a really short stem on your Chumba, and then just practice... it takes ages.
  4. Yes! Flats for life!
  5. That'll be too big. Take your time, and get something that fits!
  6. I hope that there's a legit new Marz agent' date=' even more so... I hope that their 2010 products are decent. Unlike the '09 rubbish. We had about 60% of the '09 Mongoose Teocali's that had Marz forks on them returned with failures. Current Marz agents couldn't sort the problems out sufficiently. We had a '09 66 sent back, even on to Italy... returned just as fooked [img']https://assets.bikehub.co.za/legacy_images/smilies/smiley5.gif[/img] Brad@TheRiot2009-10-18 13:44:54
  7. I have heard that they stick like snot! Apparently it's a mission to realign your foot if you replace it slightly off your mark. What would you say about that? I would love to try a pair' date=' but they seem very chunky and so I'm guessing there's less feedback (which I enjoy). Hesitant to drop the dollar on a possible fail [img']https://assets.bikehub.co.za/legacy_images/smilies/smiley5.gif[/img]
  8. @ the guys buying Marzocchi and looking to buy Marzocchi, do you know that there's no longer a SA agent? So spares, no backup...
  9. What about your riding style?

  11. As far as coils go... each bike has a different leverage ratio. Therefore, certain bikes might need a heavier weight coil with the same rider on it. For best suspension setup advice, check the specs and guidelines for you specific frame! Concerning the Sun MTX's. I'm running the 33's, and I've trashed them in less than two months. But, I ride Helderkruin mostly, and it's very rocky! I used to pinch a helluva lot, but that had been reduced drastically. Pinch flatting and denting rims have an inverse relationship. Really tough rims (resistant to denting) will cause more pinch flats. That is why the WC racers use softer (and lighter) rims, they would rather dent than pinch flat. Podiums come at a price! I have friends running both the Sun MTX 33's and 31's and they have had much better results... well in terms of rims durability Each individual's riding style (and pocket depth) will determine the necessary equipment! BTW, I'm really excited about the Gauteng DH championships this coming Sunday, it's going to be sweet!
  12. Better pics here: http://www.nsrmtb.co.za/mikes-driver-8/
  13. I can't wait for this!
  14. IMO, it's either 20" or 26". At least then, you have the best of each. Not something that doesn't know what it wants to be...
  15. I have both. I ride the BMX on street, skateparks and nice dirt jumps. For slightly sketchier jumps... i.e bumpier, imperfect transitions etc. then a jump bike feels better, due to the bigger wheels and the suspension fork (if it's not rigid). On smooth stuff, a BMX feels great! It rolls fast and will be more manoeverable. I like the BMX on street and parks for that reason! So I reckon it depends on what he wants to ride...
  16. Yup! All I see in that bike is a pile of $$$. I'd rather have the cash in my c/c account than taking up space in my garage!
  17. Bikes are for riding. Saying that, I'd only use it on special occasions. Good job! Rad bike
  18. Just the frame. I have some decent parts on the Glory ATM, so it will be a nice build with what I have. Also, I like switching parts out fairly regularly anyways. So I'm not fussed about having the "stock" bike. Not a fan of the Shimano hubs either! Brad@TheRiot2009-10-11 13:51:26
  19. Cool. my details are on that page. Let me know
  20. That looks so rad! I would love to have an urban DH race in JHB! It would be epic!!!
  21. I'll be honest (not justifying the rudeness)' date=' but some hubbers are pretty strange. You post a frame for sale, with pics and all the details. Then someone e-mails you and asks if you have "XXX" wheel set? [img']https://assets.bikehub.co.za/legacy_images/smilies/smiley5.gif[/img] One thing that I have noticed, is that hubbers shop for bargains... not for quality, not for what they need.... but purely for bargains. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe I'm generalising. But that is the feeling that I get. yes, that would be a bit irritating, especially after the 2nd call but in DHK's defence, he asked for the wheelset on the bike, not some random unrelated bit of kit. sometimes, we dont like to break up a set, but in this guys case, i'm pretty sure he can swing the bits and pieces without issue. Whole bike is obviously way less grief than shipping pieces and dealing with the whole bunch of western cape idiots For sure! It was a general observation
  22. It is mine. It's bike I used to ride' date=' I have a Glory now. That stead was good for 2min19 at Mankele, so nothing wrong with it. I'm in Randburg, JHB. Delivery nationwide can be arranged [img']https://assets.bikehub.co.za/legacy_images/smilies/smiley2.gif[/img]
