  1. Bwahahahaha! I think it's gross. There are definitely better ways to go about being different.
  2. The local Fox guys are great! I ordered a Rampage Helmet and some Straffer DH shorts from the rep that calls on our store, that was on a Monday. I was riding that weekend, and he said it should arrive by Friday. The next morning (Tues), my package arrived The shorts had small mark on them, sort of a sun stain or the like. I brought it to the reps attention. The warehouse staff said that all the 28" Straffers had the mark, by the next morning we had received a 40% (off the shorts) credit note. I was happy to save some $$$. 10/10 to the local Fox agents!
  3. I am jealous! Check out Aaron Gwin's (Yeti DH racer) story: "Aaron Gwin has been a big surprise to many people in the mountain bike world. Literally coming out of no where, Gwin has captured the interest of riders, industry, & media throughout the nation, if not the entire mtb world. Gwin placed 10th at his first two international races (Sea Otter Classic & MSA World Cup) against the fastest World Cup racers around; qualified first, at his first, national mountain bike race; and bested his World Cup teammates (Justin Leov & Sam Blenkinsop) at the Snowmass stop of the Mountain States Cup. Did we mention that this was all within his first 8 months of racing downhill? Not just as a professional... but his entire racing career!" From: http://www.pinnedmtb.com/aarongwin_interview08.htm
  4. I can't stand not being paid last year we did the BMX demo at the Masters of Dirt Freestyle Moto X show... that was June last year and we're yet to be paid! BTW, I wrenched at this years Epic for Shimano. I was paid within a week
  5. Hell yeah for SA MTB!
  6. It's worth the drive to Mike's. Just call first and book it in, 011 888 8868
  7. I went there earlier this year for the National DH. What a great weekend, DH course was awesome, can't wait for African Champs in July! This time I definitely want to hit the trails too! Great camping facilities!
  8. Take the bike to a decent bike shop and let them shorten the hoses for you
  9. I'd buy this: https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=49297&PN=5 If the size is right
  10. I have never liked cable discs. From personal experience, the braking power is better with decent v brakes and they're also easier to setup/adjust. But, what I would do in your situation is take the cable disc option and then upgrade to hydraulic discs when you can. I have Tektro Auriga Comp hydraulic disc brakes on my hardtail and they have seriously impressed me! I have been riding them pretty hard since Aug last year and have had no issues. The stopping power is good, the feel is good, pads are cheap (+- R60/set, still on the original pads BTW)... and they're very affordable. Retail around R1600.00/set! Best value for money brakes!
  11. That's my bro! So proud!!!!!!!
  12. Most suppliers ran out of stock before the Olympics. The problem is that there is inconsistent demand from the race scene. So now there's inconsistent supply from the wholesalers side... Eish
  13. Hey Hog I've got no specials on ATM. Also, most suppliers are currently out of stock of BMX race bikes
  14. "Lurker"? That's not nice Ha ha' date=' yeah... we're tucked away in a little dungeon behind Mike's Bikes. The Riot BMX Shop: www.theriot.co.za ^^^^^^ IGNORANCE.
  15. At least the Uno's are Fiat's (ITA)... how many frikken Citi Golf's have you seen with the Ferrari badge on it
  16. I used to race with Skizo, I quit just before he got really fast, ha ha. The man is nothing short of being an absolute machine! He's definitely in with a chance of medaling. But you guys are right, it's def a bit of a lottery. But he's not gonna be slipping his pedals with SPD's on Here's his UCI World's final: He's super strong out of the gate! Show him you support, join his FB group: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=64138725299&ref=ts Brad@TheRiot2008-08-15 04:14:09
  17. As some guys mentioned before me, it's rarely just a "5 min" job. I don't enjoy working on bikes in front of customers. It's just awkward, you feel rushed and under pressure and that's not how you want you feel when trying to repair a bike. I've seen this situation so many times: A customer walks in says "please check my gears, they're just slipping a bit". Once the staff member/mechanic gets going, he notices that the brakes need adjusting too... or that the cables need replacing, that'll turn a 5 min job into 30 mins! It wont always end up like that. But it's not worth the risk. Rather just drop the bike off and fetch it when it's ready. That gives the mechanic good time to work on in and test ride it! You'll benefit in the end
  18. Cheers for that. My mate spoke to Olaf (spelling?) at Crosstown, he has no hubs in at the moment
