  1. It's good that you're feeling it now (as opposed to just thinking you're unfit). First step in becoming a true ninja! Well done on the time that's blitzing!
  2. Definitelly sounds like over training to me. Try slow down the time trials to work for a week or two and make sure you're getting enough calories (eat a few avos) and sleeping enough too. You'll probably come out the other side like a raging bull! Check out the concept of polarised training if you're not familiar, basically 80% of your training must be done at a painfully light exertion rate and 20% at full taps to make sure you recover sufficiently. On a side note I had a similar experience once that turned out to be salt deficiency, I had a few electrolytes and came right quickly. Could be that too.
  3. A pleasure, take heart in that you are dealing with some serious perfectionists on this thread, I know lots of banters that would go mad for your products. I will support it too! godd luck!
  4. The chocolate mouse looks like a winner to me, not so sure on the other because I look for things that have fat (within reason)more than just things that don't have sugar. However the other products still look like a good scapegoat for a sweet tooth moment. Only negative point is on the ingredients is "colourant", "stabilisers" and "emulsifiers", anal shoppers (like me) wonder whether its safe. And also cant the palm oil be replaced with something else, the people who have read "real meal revolution " will see that as a negative, perhaps use coconut, olive or gee? Thumbs up on the Stevia and Zyliton , its good to see that quality. Just a few points but I will purchase this, cant wait to see your products in the shops!
  5. I'm 28 and a very abid HFLC eater. I train with Watt equipment and a coach and compete at a relitively high level too and have been on HFLC for almost a yr now. Would love to get involved but i think a little young and also i'm in jhb unfortuantelly. But let me know if there is ever a need for me.
  6. I used to have a light flu almost weekly, I think it was brought on by hayfever alergies etc. High carb low fat has made me "bullet proof"! Racing the van gaalens ultramrathon this weekend, had a mild carbo load last night (2 days in advance) and back onto strict low carb again now to fire up the krebs cycle! I must also say that compared with my riding partner who chows carbs like a race horse I have become much more able to pump out the watts after 2/3 hours when his energy levels tank every time so HCLF definitely works and I'd recommend it to all. Be prepeared for a short downturn (for me I was week for the first 2 weeks) while your body adapts but persevere and you will pop out much stronger!
  7. Ho wmany groups are there in the ultra marathon, I got A-batch but I have a feeling that behind the UCI and professional "A" is all that left?
  8. Am i confused a 3 day stage race that provides food for R720... that seems cheep to me.
  9. Work has decided to send me to Zambia this weekend, No more monster for me! Very very sad! So now I have cheep accommodation for someone and a marathon entry too. In terms of accomodation I have paid the deposit (R800) you just have to pay for the other half which is R800. First come first serve. It is booked from fri 23 may to sun 25th for two people for two nights. The accomodation is booked at mamagalie lodge. http://www.mamagalie.co.za/units/bush-lodge. The ticket can go for R150 to the first buyer. Please email me at kevinwalter777@gmail.com if you are interested. Good luck and enjoy everybody!
  10. Just to let you guys know your not alone, I also had a rough weekend tried to hit vangaalens twice, the first day was average to bad but the second day was hopeless. I rode 7km then had to turn around and cruise home. I think it was a combo of a rough training week as well as with the HFLC diet. I find that I recover much slower after a tough ride like that , my body just said no more. I will continue with HFLC but when having a intense session of more than 2 hrs I think a few more carbs during and even after the ride will be in order in future. I think you need to balance building the fat burning machine and also building the rest of your body too.
  11. Short answer: You should see pretty notable results after a month, 2 weeks prob a little soon. The results I would expect would be more to do with maintaining higher energy levels well riding and as a result being faster. Long answer: I hit that maffetone style training where i limited my HR to 180-age-5 when training and I put hours in (12+hrs a week) for around 6 months. Theres no doubt it works and improved my stamina for the long days in the saddle because your fat burning system is trained up in the end I could ride for 6 hr periods with minimal carbs (dried fruit, biltong and nuts only) and was faster than when I started. I hit a plateau though where I was exhausted, always on the verge of knee injuries (from high wear) and was not improving anymore.. I have since gone to a coach (bikefit.co.za) who throws hard intervals at you twice a week with base training over the weekend (currently I'm putting in 6-10hrs a week). I've been doing this since Nov last year and I must say the results are far more noticable and I would recommend this style of training. After the first month I was already far fitter than I'de ever been and actually more rested too. You could even just get a training program electronically and do the training at home if coaching doesn't fit the budget (coaching is around R550 a month) and personal time etc, these programs are emailed at the begging of the week and your results are monitored to make sure you are progressing. Good luck with the training!
