  1. I managed to finish the marathon in 5:14 which would put me in personal record position, pushed myself effing hard thought I was going to die at the end spectrum sport scanned my timing board but I got a DNF... very ***!
  2. Can someone tell me why we register at Cycle lab, I have my number board so do I still need to go? Is it just for the goody bag?
  3. looks slick! Where did you order that? how much?
  4. I was one of the 70km, one lap finishers... tried tha event with a mild flu, it was tough and I still had fun but when I rode past the start for lap two I was bushed lol! Beautiful trails, well run event definitely going to train harder and be back again next year but will hit the 35km to try get into top 20 or there abouts...
  5. hahahaha! frame that!
  6. Thanks this looks like the business, ordered it online! Keen to get reading... Coaching sounds like a good plan too will look into that.
  7. Hi Hubbers I'm looking to buy a book that will help me put together a good training regime, looking to learn how to make full use of training with a HRM, timing rest and peaks etc... I'm a mountain biker. Could someone make a recommendation please?
  8. I'm pretty much finished with these races, nissan trail seeker at cullinan was *** too... The routes are very average which makes you focus on trying to get a good time but then the distance are always at least 10km shorter or longer than you bargained for... I did the magalies monster and that was properly organised on a way more beautiful route too! Doing vori berg this weekend in the hopes that it will be similar...
  9. Dont know what your trying to say here, are you saying that what we see is only an external layer which is there for cosmetics? I was under the impression that UD had most strength in 1 direction while 3k is a weave and has strength in more than one direction?
  10. http://www.light-bicycle.com/the-3k-12k-ud-carbon-fiber-weave-for-rim-and-frame.html In case theres anyone else out there wondering what 3k 12k and UD means... very informative... 3k is best looking but UD generally performs best, For best frame performance you want UD in the long members [top tube etc.] and 3k around all the bends.
  11. wear a buff round your neck, can double as a dust filter... This thread has made me amped sounds like we riding in a mad max movie!!!
  12. after reading all your information (thanks a lot btw!!!) I think i underestimated the importance of keeping the brake fluid dry when I bled the system... I reckon thats what it is so I'm going to take it in for a full service an just get all the seals repaced too so that they should be good for a long time hopefully. I'd love to just upgrade but I'm planning on buiding up 29er in dec so I'll rather wait it out a little... Thanks for all the advice everyone!
  13. Ok well thats cool, glad to here the servicing isn't too expensive because when they work they work well so I'd be happy to sort them out.
  14. They faded at the top of mountain at van gaalens this weekend, there i learnt the dangers of only having front brakes lol! I think I'll take my bike to the shop for new seals and pipes, I did blead em and it didnt help, fixing this one is too much for me... If its expensive I'll get a new system...
  15. I have tried to find leaks and cant find anything major...
  16. Lol thanks for the advice, I'm keen to go the hope route just gotta examine the budget first...
  17. Morning hubbers I've been having problems for a while now where my brakes, they come and go during a ride. I bled them myself but it didn't fix the problem, they still go soft occasionally during a ride... I find it hard to believe they are over heating with my level of riding... Is there anything that could be causing this besides overheating. Thanks.
  18. Well done hahahaha! My GF rode her first race this weekend and was completely put off by the race snakes shouting at them on their way past, its actually going to be hard to convince her to try again which is a real pitty.. well done for standing up for the ladies! The race was just badly timed, seems like all the A class people came past the slow riders right in the middle of the technical stuff??? One 20km entrant tried to get back onto the track as a faster lady rider was passing and they had a massive collision resulting in the faster lady being knocked unconscious, not good for either entrant.. Can anyone tell me where the photos can be purchased?
  19. Thanks for the info, very encouraging!!! I'm planning on doing the same in a few months
  20. Looks really awesome how much did it all cost in the end , what does she weigh and what size? if you dont mind all the questions hahaha! Mean machine!
  21. Thanks for the input mad marc, your theory on sliding scale ronds is really good much appreciated! We were going to be cheaper and that also seems like a good idea. BTW I paid the R150ish rond option for magalies monster because it was a special event for me but I agree you would get a whole lot more takers if it was more affordable and the quality of picture is also critical. Thanks your time guys!
  22. Hi ladies and gents Could people let me know if you buy your photos after a race from the photographers and possible what effects your decision? I'm interrested in starting a little photography business myself and just trying to get a feel for it all. Thanks in advance!
