  1. The mtb part of it will be very easy, maybe a little soft sand but mostly chilled single track and dirt roads. Its really good fun and not that tough, if you are extremely unfit you will be able to complete the 2.5/15/2.5 but if you are reasonably fit its easy and you should o the longer one. Really good day out!
  2. Where can we get our photos?
  3. Finished the 75km with my buddy, our first mtb race (go big or go home...) wont pretend it was easy though, finished in 6.5hrs with cramps along the way and bikes breaking beneath us! Next time I'll come way more prepared and also keen to bring a dual sus 29er, hard tail 26er was like riding a bull! My hands were blistered and cramping, I still cant believe these guys with the SS's crazy!
  4. How many days do people recommend resting before the race, I trained hard this weekend then had two relaxed spinning classes this week now planning to take the rest of the week off , have I gone lazy?
  5. Moab khotsong... Same mine group I think... Thanks for that advice, don't want that! I see there are tons of options when you go into klerksdorp but its a little far, would prefer finding something closer to orkney... www.mtbroutes.co.za
  6. Greetings hubbers I am going to be working a few months in Orkney starting next week, the only neighbouring town is klerksdorp. Can anyone recommend a trail or two for me to pass the days with (my work will be taking place at night...) Many thanks!
  7. Hi Can anyone tell me if westdene cycles or linden cycles are open on sundays? Thanks
  8. I'm in the same boat as you, seems like chainreactioncycles.com is the way to go. Going to buy myself a VDO X2 Cycle Computer (See below) for now at R250+R99 Shipping and save up for a more awesome one later on... http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=66033 Im not 100% sure but I think it'll be the cheepest to do it this way, can anyone advise on that? Thanks
  9. As far as whey's go i think muscle science is great value, your buying whey isolate and hydrolysate at the price of the other standard products out there... To purchase the same thing else where you would pay upward of R700 a tub from optimum nutrition. I use this. Dischem. Glutamine is not bad for you, wont add calories to diet and aids well in recovery. I also recommend!
  10. Awesome! I wont buy one but for poor people its cool...
  11. Ive sorted my ITBs out as follows: I went to SBR sport, sunninghill. Got my bike set up to lower strain on ITBs and have had 3 session of massage there. The massage was the tipping point, stretching wasn't enough to solve it. Im back to riding happily again, going to leave the running for a little while longer.
  12. If you have any problems whether its running or riding go get an assessment done at SBR. They film you to make sure all your angles are correct (while running and riding). I went through 2 months of unsuccessful physio (lots of money too...) when all i needed was 1 visit to SBR where I bought the correct shoe for my legs. The SBR consultation was cheeper than 1 physio session. Great service and price!
  13. I messed up my ITB 4 weeks ago (15km run) currently sitting at my desk with ice on my knee ... I am also getting quite close to the point of considering this op, I have been doing yoga, stretching, gym training etc etc etc and it wont heal. Can someone recommend who i should talk to in Sandton area that will give me the right advise, does medical aid cover this surgery? Thanks!
  14. Thanks guys! I have bought all the parts now (Tape and Rubber rim strips) under the guidance from the shop that they were both neccessary. I will let you know how the install goes.
  15. Alex TFS rims, maxis ust tubeless tires. Going to swing by the bike shop now with the rim and tire and see if it is necessary to get rim strip again for seating purposes. Thanks for the advice, I can go there knowing what questions to ask...
  16. Hi Guys I bought a bike recently recently and stripped the wheels down to service. Inside I found lots of old dried up sealant and a few large thorns poking through which i cleaned up. There was yellow tape sealing the rims as well as a rubber strip (very old and tarnished) on top of that. Should i be replacing the rubber rim strips, I cant work out if you need tape and a rim strip? What is the reason for having both? Thanks Kevin
  17. i wont be doing dh only normal riding but want to look sick!
