  1. Scott aspect if you want entry level bullet proof(just change the wheels) or a Scott Scale. trus me. the bullet proof. my 2012 Scott scale elite 29er came off the bike rack at 140kmh on a tar road. dragged behind my car for almost a km attached to the stretchy. raced it the next day. just 2 scratches and the gears needed adjusting. still going strong today. and I'm also pretty hard on bikes
  2. this is a duplicate thread. just FYI
  3. well i think we can safel;y say.... DO NOT UPGRADE. sell and buy a good 2nd hand one. got it? good
  4. have a look whats on the hub right a this moment... https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/87660-merida-big-nine-tfs-900/ for a bit more https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/89651-scott-scale-960-2013-large/ https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/85396-momsen-sl729-medium-2012-9-months-old/ and even more https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/89584-cannondale-flash-1-29er/ https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/86668-merida-bignine-carbon-xo-edition-2013-price-drop/
  5. sell it and buy a better bike. dont necesarally have to buy new. some good 2nd hand deals. IMHO, upgrading the groupset, wheels, and especially fork is going to cost you the same if not more. and you would get a higher level frame with better geometry. my 5 cents
  6. proper XCO course. about 3km a lap. do as many laps as you can in 60min. get to meet a bit of the community there.
  7. thursday night, 6 at cyclopro/profiles gym. 60min of mayhem valley ride. you get timed and costs 20 bucks
  8. that is one mean looking running forward pack though
  9. the 2013/2014 bikes has the fox shocks. the early 2013/2012 has that *** dt swiss one. maybe better. but the giant is just an awkward looking bike. on coolness scott wins hehehe
  10. go for the scott..... doooo iiitttt. (and scott is a much cooler brand)
  11. Scott all the way. no argument. i way 106 and im on the scott scale 940. no problem with the wheels. but also that why i have insurance, so if i ever fold them i get them replaced! (happened on my 1st scott with alex rims on) have 3 mates on the spark and they swear by it. especially now that they have the fox float shock instead of the dt swiss as on the older models. giants are good bikes. but i think the scotts design and geometry just gives it that lil more
  12. is that 12x ratio?! nee hell julle roadies raak nou erger as die hele 29/27.5 ding
  13. roadie troubles. all i see
  14. the Scale 700 series also a beaut when it comes to 650B
  15. and it was only really an issue on the 2012 frames with the DT swiss shock. not so much with the Fox sus
  16. Scott Scale 910. come in at early R30K. full carbon race frame. Fox fork. full XT. one of my dream bikes. Im on the Scale Elite alu frame. and its still an awesome ride. you could perhaps look at the 650B as well
  17. scott scale. done. i have 2 scotts, so has my other half. no issues at all.
  18. what about the Scott Scale 940. hard tailer, but an awesome bike. (do you need a duelie?) this way you spend =- R24k, 6K to get pedals, good shoes and kit helmet etc. never underestimate the value of good shoes and shorts for comfort, and a decent helmet for your pip. i presume you will mostlike do marathon type races in the start, 45 to 80km. hard tailer is perfect for that. and i asure you that if you get into it you will get a new bike or a 2nd bike in the next 12months.
  19. well if your whole leg is isolated not to work for 2months... well maybe not that small. but fabes can kick start a boeing.
  20. a break is sometimes just what you need to come back stronger... been in a telescopic brace for my knee for 2 months and it came off yesterday my right thigh is smaller than Fabes calves. now rehab. at least the rehab is mostly work on the bike
  21. fabes is looking for young boys apparently to take a "new career" path...
  22. instead of a walk in closet, have a walk in bike closet for kit gear and a mini work stand. with spot lighting (like a surgery, for the bike oon its stand
  23. he was passed by a tractor with a 26er slipping
  24. just a *** read
