  1. All this hot air for one day in the year? I suppose the same must be said for runners then - Comrades / Boston / New York etc... marathons. Then of course the Olympic Games etc… What an inconvenience! This is sweeping negativity. You are simply a to$$!
  2. Fluid strap saddlebags, biggest scam to cycling.
  3. I just wish runners would wear some lights, not sounding devices, just some small lights, nearly bumped a couple this week only because the were undercover.
  4. Really thankful for the replies guys and value the experience and advice here. First problem - I did raise my saddle slightly on my second last training ride even though it felt fine (will get this checked out for future) I felt fine and really wasn't gunning it over the first half (I am a weekend warrior of note and specifically took it easy) but again lesson learnt, will be sure to keep it lower and slower first half next time. Finished two bottles of energade, three quarter bottle of rehydrate and water, one energy bar then the two Gu's, after that both quads cramped up as tight as a ducks @$$. The legs always seem to cramp after the second Gu though, may then try Hammer and ensure I down with half bottle of water in future? Thanks.
  5. Was chasing a sub four, going great guns first part of the race - twenty minutes early into Witkoppen climb. Then totally bombed on the Lion Park Hill. Then a puncture on N14, after the cramp finished a very slow and tired 05h20. Every time I have my second Gu an hour or so after the first my quads totally seize - any reason why? I do train regularly, should I lay off the Gu and drink more. (I ate and drank regularly)
  6. Quick question: Best water point along route with easy access for supporters guys? Preferably in the second half of the race.
  7. This is just simply amazing, thanks for the share Blitz, well done!
  8. Not stupid. I did a similar training plan to this for last years race and was also very overweight, the only difference is I converted to slicks, you could do the sub four, irrespective - the feeling experienced when you cross that finish is simply amazing. All the best!
  9. By the sounds of things this guy is a class A bully. Urgent and direct action needed here, not a few hours discussing the meaning of life and how sorry he is supposed to feel. He will do this again given the chance - no doubt. I say put a prop in it, let him enjoy a few months of liquid lunches.
  10. Yes cut the tape to make it fit into the groove, stretched it in to fit snuggly, double checked for sharp ends and no lift. Think it's a good idea to ride it until it becomes a problem and then replace with insulation tape? Thanks for the advice here.
  11. Hi Guys. Any advice on rim tape on my MTB, I am rolling with tubes. The rubber strip bust so I replaced it with duct tape, the tubes were getting punctured / pinched by the rim. The duct tape seems to be doing the job so far, I took the bike out for a 30k in the week and so far no problems. I've done some research and some guys advise not to apply duct tape due to the adhesive becoming unstable while others seem happy to recommend, I've heard about the gorilla tape, any thoughts? Still have six spare tubes at home so not too keen to convert to tubeless for now. Thanks.
  12. Missed my spinning today, reading this I'm going home to spin tonight. Two years ago I was a heart attack waiting to happen, FFWD to now I'm 10 k's lighter now thanks to my mate, feeling so much better. The comments about "are you all alright?" are pretty funny and true. In fact the result: My loss in weight motivated about ten people I know to join in the 94.7 this year, they're busy buying / borrowing bikes to ride for a cause - all thanks to my mate who is soooo much fitter than me, will never go back or stop riding now.
  13. This is moer funny, tap outs and all. Wasted a half hour of my life, but sooo worth it.
  14. Tour Ireland with the wife - stop overs, town to town, city to city, no time frame. Then short tours of Ozz cities and Europe.
  15. My mate and I will see you there, just a windy afternoon run for us. I'll be bringing up the rear, did it last year - it's a rough ride back against the wind, saturday's weather looking hectic, maybe cold with pumping winds, good start to spring / summer riding, all the best to you Clay.
  16. Anybody know where I can hire five bicycles for some mates? We're planning on riding for a fund raiser at the 94.7 cycle race this year. Nothing special just good enough to get them through the race and have fun trying?
  17. I'm glad I read this, different strokes right... Got meself a MTB, running slicks. Unfortunately I only have one bike for now - I am grateful (lost plentsh kg's sweating and learning lots) I see the future and if the choice arrives I will then get a road bike and hopefully get to go a little faster when racing (I use this term very loosely), then pop knobblies back on the MTB and get to those spots posted on "where has your bike taken you" thread. Until then just loving it for what it is, just being out there and keeping in some sort of shape (round is a shape)
  18. Dexter - starting at season uno, cancelled the DSTV, now I just stream what I want when I want.
  19. Yes, pretty much, nice to meet you SwissMan, you also not in the mood for work much?
  20. Doesn't anybody have any work to do?
  21. I almost bought a pair of toe clips this last weekend, I've found many contrasting views from many sites. I'm on a MTB - 26'r converted to road - that's how I roll. I drink beer - love it and sweat my *** off working it all off again (not going to change) Okay - to toe clip or not? Go for it.
  22. I'm doing this - 80k. Only second race of my life - on a MTB, using it as a tester for 94.7, just hope the wind stays away.
