  1. Clean Green, a couple of brushes and a hosepipe trickled over the frame and muddy parts. dont spray water anywhere near the BB.
  2. I'm sure. Kiwi also sells them online for R100. http://www.planet-x-bikes.co.za/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=ON%20ONE%20BOB-ON%20GRIP
  3. Replace them with lock on grips. Giant sell some for under R60. I dont even bother with the friction type ones, after one ride they are all twisted up.

  5. I scratch my bars all the time when putting grips and brakes on. Sliding those metal shifters and brakes on is pretty difficult to do without scratching the paint. Its normal, and will not effect them in any way. Stripped super glued bolt is just horrifying and dangerous. parabola2009-12-05 03:34:25
  6. Flea your 22" frame looks perfectly in proportion with the 29" wheels
  7. I suggest you read through Misconception No.2 in the link below: http://www2.eng.cam.ac.uk/~hemh/gyrobike.htm The gyroscopic forces are there but are negligible in comparison to everything else. You can also see from the article that it is possible to build and ride a bike that has no gyroscopic effect at all. Oooooh! The elegance of that! I'm definitely bookmarking that link. Sometimes we do need a man with an anorac and a PhD in the background to lend weight to what we say. What an interesting article. Thanks Edman
  8. If you really need to resort to something as drastic as this I reckon your frame is too big for you
  9. pretty common, just flip your current one over. My EA50 has symmetrical logos for this purpose. EDIT : Then get a stem with more of an angle to it, and flip that over parabola2009-12-01 12:04:30
  10. Check out the new Merida one-twentys, they are nice all rounders
  11. Ah I see. Juicy 5's are a good upgrade, I have the same. Make sure you use them with the Avid rotors, I used mine with shimano ones and they are not the same width as the Avids. What crankset do you have? How many km's on your current cassette/chain? Well you could order 9sp shifters, a 9sp cassette and a 9sp chain from CRC. Your 8sp derailer and cranks should be fine with the 9sp stuff. Go with Deore or SLX if you want to spend a bit more for something longer lasting. Should be about R800-R1k. If this is a bit out of your budget, then just order the Alivio 8sp shifters, but the problem is once your cassette is worn, you will need to replace that, so if your current stuff is worn, its worth going all the way and moving to 9sp all at once. You will save money in the long run, and have an extra 3 gears, which does make a difference! I have only ordered stuff through the parcelforce option, in which case you pay the man who delivers the stuff to your door. On smaller orders you can use the royal mail option, I assume you have to collect from the PO and then you would pay them on collection. parabola2009-11-30 06:28:03
  12. This magazine about Bicycling got thinner and thinner leading up to the time when the new editor took over, then miraculously was back to normal amount of pages. I then discovered that it had become even more of a glorified advertising catalogue, as the extra pages are just adverts. Its not about size, its about quality. I would rather buy a thinner magazine with less adverts, and more unique, well written articles, relevant to our own cycling scene. I think the rehashing of old articles is not something unique only to this magazine, but to most of the others as well, such as the one about Healthy Men.
  13. You order, pay via credit/cheque card, you receive in about a week via your PO. VAT is not included in their price, which you pay upon receiving the item. Postage on that item is only around R125. OR you could just upgrade to 9sp, might be a better option depending on the current condition of your drivetrain stuff. Always well priced 9sp stuff being sold around here.
  14. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=38697 Just about the only 8 speed triggers you can get for shimano MTB
  15. I know! I asked if they were going to repay the interest I've lost, obvious answer was no.
  16. A very friendly and helpful consultant at Standard Bank said that the problem will be sorted within the next 3 days.
