  1. Sort of... couple of factors... > The 2016 Camber Comp was really well priced in the first place > Specification has been improved from 2x10 to 2x11 > Pricing for 2017 models based on R16 = 1 euro (2016 models based on R14 = 1 euro) ... Thanks Mr Zuma > Small inflation on base price in Euro's = adds up to the price increase.
  2. Daniel, what size are you? The Stumpy Comp has a dropper and the Camber Comp doesn't which explains some of the price difference... The Stumpy is an amazing "pure" trail bike, and the Camber is incredibly versatile. Some Camber owners have upped their fork travel from 120mm to 130mm or 140mm (costs under R2000 to do with a new air spring) to give their Cambers a little more aggression.
  3. New 2014 Epic... it rides better than ever and it can take 2 water bottles!
  4. Get a Spot if you want belt drive... contact the RSA importer... etienne@kttape.co.za http://spotbrand.com/bikes/product-page/honey-badger-ss/ Or get one hand made for you here in RSA... http://mercerbikes.co.za/ https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/130968-new-cape-town-frame-builder/
  5. Looks like a clear cut warranty claim but remember, you need to be the original purchaser too. Second hand bikes don't keep their warranty. @ Malpiet, careful using using Google/Forums as your source for "common" bicycle problems. People only post when they have problems so you may find 50 incidences which may seem a lot, but maybe 50'000 of that model was sold.
  6. Simple Answer... Find a better LBS.
  7. Jonkershoek today (Heritage Day), Welvanpas on Sunday. Two of the best rides in SA!
  8. Very easy answer... the new 2014 Specialized Epic Comp... landing in RSA next week. http://www.specialized.com/za/en/bikes/mountain/epic/epic-comp-29 PS> Don't buy used. No warranty, potential incorrect size, risk that bike has been ridden into the ground.
  9. Owning a Giant Athem/Trance is like owning a Toyota Fortuner - Good Value Solid Reliable Bicycle/Car, but everyone has one! (and the R15k new Trance X3 mentioned in a previous post is very poorly spec'ed). PS. I am the guy selling the Specialized Enduro .... Moohahaha (evil laughter)
  10. I own a bike shop and there is no doubt that the largest number of Tubeless issues come from Schwalbe tyres, especially the EVO versions that aren't the Snakeskin versions. They seam to come standard on lots of bike brands, and that is why they appear to be popular, but that's probably because they are light (for the brands' catalog weights) and cheap to supply on the bikes. The most reliable just based on what we see in the workshop are: Light Weight (thinner sidewall) and very well priced - Specialized Control tyres - various tread patterns Bullet Proof but heavier - Maxxis Lust - various tread patterns and Great Grip but fast wearing - Continental Protection - various tread patterns
  11. No Way, The Exchange rate is ***! My local bike shop offers much better value, with warrenties and no risk of customs! PS. Got nailed 40% the other day in customs because I had one item of clothing with my order!
  12. Forget the "Value Brands" (they are like cheap chinese cars!), you will regret buying it in the future. Go for the best! Specialized... and for a change they have a bike that offers great value! Check out the new 2012 Specialized Camber Expert 29er - only sells for about R33'000! http://www.specialized-sa.co.za/contentbike.php?range=206&year=&bike=322 BEST ALLROUND BIKE ON THE MARKET!!
  13. You can... (PS. USA web prices always exclude VAT, because each state has it's own tax rate)
  14. A lot of decisions in Cycling now-a-days are difficult with all the options available but this time, the answer to your question is Simple... For exactly R50k you should buy a 2012 Specialized Epic Carbon Expert 29er full susser. http://www.specialized-sa.co.za/contentbike.php?range=200&year=&bike=293 It's proven to be the fastest... wridden this year to the following results 2011 World MTB XC Champion with Kulhavy 2011 World MTB Marathon 2nd place with Kulhavy (1st place was Sauser on a Specialized Stumpjumper Hardtail 29er) and 1st at the 2011 ABSA Cape Epic with Stander and Sauser, The only difficulty is finding one... Otherwise you get a 2012 Stumpjumper Carbon Expert Hardtail for R34k - I know where to find you a small... http://www.specialized-sa.co.za/contentbike.php?range=201&year=&bike=313
