  1. I am in as well, as a newbie How does it compare to 94.7? Are the times similar?
  2. Does anyone know how many start groups in open seeded, and how many entries in total?
  3. I am also doing this one. After my 3.16, at the Carousel, I am aiming as close to 3.00 as possible, but the extra 5 km will make that harder. The weather forecast has the wind between 6 and 8 km/h. But hey, anything is possible.
  4. Big up to Championchip. The got the results loaded just after lunch on the same day. I was even on the results, which was not always the case on the racetec results in the past. Even got a congratulatory SMS early on Friday afternoon.
  5. That is quite something with all the wind, on such a monster bike. Well done
  6. So what times did you all do in the Tsunami I managed a 3:16. Was seeded in A, and should have started in B. Wanted to experience A. Rode above my strength/fitness level up to the climb, and then got dropped by the group I had helped to get there. Joined a group that was picking up the stragglers, on the way back. Sorry to say I was a wheel sucker all the way back . It took everything I had to stay with the bunch. Still not sure that I enjoyed it. Will have to see what the Sun City race has up its sleeve for us next weekend.
  7. For some or other reason I scored a A bunch start. But will ride in B with my brother. What sort of times are you guys expecting?
  8. Hi all, Out of interest, where do you park at SBR. I have never been there, but want to go through on Sunday, net weekend? Is the route well marked? anything else to know about SBR for the first time? Cheers
  9. Get a pro fitting. But be aware that there are pro fittings and then there are PRO FITTINGS. Had my bike set up when I starter riding ate the beginning of the year, by one of the pro fitting shops. I felt comfortable that I just need to get used to riding a bike & the setup. Over time I realised that something was wrong. I believed that I possibly had one leg longer than the other, as I was tip toeing my right foot. Hence, my right leg is shorter. Surprised to find out that my LEFT leg is just over 10mm longer than my right. I had my saddle set too high, and had managed to rotate my pelvis to the right and forward. This made my short left leg almost straight at the bottom of the stroke. I rode my bike after the setup yesterday for the first time, and what a difference. Legs are now evenly spaced from the head tube while pedalling. Only problem is that my right sit bone has not been on the saddle for quite some time. Managed 45 minutes, then right sit bone pain from hell. Like getting used to a new saddle. Look for someone who has been setting up bikes professionally for a long time, and been trained by the best.
  10. I stand NO chance of winning, yet I still training like a mother trucker
  11. I learned about cycling wind. When you have a head wind and turn right, you still have a head wind. Turn right, and you still have a head wind. Cycling offers more head winds than tail winds.
  12. I am on to my second 12 week block. Class is now almost full. 18% increase in FTP in 12 weeks. I am training on the road as well, but you can't beat the results. I have seen the benefit on the road as well. This gave me the confidence to take on the Kremetart this year. This after riding/training for less than six months. Have booked for the next class in advance, and intend doing the one after that. That would make it four in a row.
  13. We made it!!!!!!!! Finished in just over 6 hours. Quite an achievement. Booking accommodation for next year. At least we now have something to beat.
  14. 24 hours and counting!!! May everyone have a safe journey & may the weather spirits(read wind) spirits be on our side.
  15. I would love my wife to be on a bike, but she prefers the energy expenditure of the bus
  16. My other half on the bus as well. With good accommodation, I could even score points
  17. Where are you guys getting your forecast?
  18. Thanks a lot. I suppose that you can start in a lower start group as per normal races, but then you have to start in that group for the rest of the event. Did I understand this correctly?
  19. I am new to cycling and racing. What are the age groups that each of the start categories refer to? Start times as follows: Tandems at above time. Junior and Senior men + 2 minutes. Sub- Veteran men + 5 minutes. Veteran men + 10 minutes. Women + 17 minutes. Master and Gr. Master men + 22 minutes. Comrades + 25 minutes
  20. What sort of race times is everyone hoping for? My brother & I are aiming for between 5 & 5.5 hours. Wind permitting. Will be a looooooooong time in the saddle. :D
  21. We were told that the race was the best cycling event of the year, so we entered for something different and the vibe. The more I hear about it the more I look forward to it.
  22. A question for those of you who have done the first hill before, on a scale of 1 to 10, how bad is it? Trying to prepare myself for it in advance.
  23. I don't it is easy to underestimate a 9.4km climb on cold legs, and a 175km race distance
