I have had the Trance 26", Giant XTC, Spez Epic and now the Spez Camber 29" I have posted this else where, Your riding skill will determine what you find to be the best bike. I started with the Trance, easy bike to ride and gave confidence on the downhills. The epic has a steeper head and seat tube angle and I struggled to find confidence in the bike on downhills. then moved to the camber, feels like a hybrid between the Trance and Epic, a bit slacker and a bit more forgiving. Thus, making me feel more confident and in the end enjoy the ride more.... So, the real question is....how well do you ride ?
