  1. Thanks yes I got my financial advisor to complete the form. Sitting on 263 right now, waiting for next month for my momentum product points to add more points. Healthy Heart score:100 Financial Advisor review:100 Questionnaires: 60 Active days: 3 Got the app and activated safety dayz, did not drive around though, so hope my safety dayz allocate next week for non-traveling safety dayz. It will be great if PPA/WP can work with Momentum to get more elite road races on there, even if is just 2 points per race.
  2. where is Gen tired of helping new Momentum peeps haha I hope Momentum is worth it. Discovery really screwed me over when I bought the 820 + heart rate combo and I thought it will work with device booster since the guys as sportmans warehouse told me yeah right no problem and I thought yeah it should work since they support the 520 + heart rate. I think they updated their list of supported devices a couple of months later. Well I cannot live with such a complicated system where they cannot help you if you forgot to push a button on their app before making a purchase and at the time their website had no info.
  3. Hi, I just joined Momentum Multiply Premier since I took up some of their products. Read a couple of posts and understand things changed a little bit since last year. So there are now more "Cash back" points and instead we should have some cash laying around in Momentum Money? Say I should look to get like 40 points from Multiply Money and 40 from TaxTim. If I do the car safety check, will this also increase my allowed active days from 80 to 120? Edit: It seems like it will add and unlock extra safety days. What happens when you do an "elite" event. For example, you were on 75/80 points. Do you get for example 10 points and just go to 85/85 or does it become 85/90 or something else ? Is there still a global limit of 240 points for active + safe + finance? They do not indicate this in the 2020 points guide. Edit: Found the page which says the global limit is 240: https://www.multiply.co.za/wps/vanityurl/points-at-a-glace/
  4. Traffic was passing the group on the left Edit: But the marshall's tried hard keeping the group to the left. Giving guys last warnings, revving the engine next to the group etc..
  5. Someone else said the two values is the position and gradient of a bell curve. This made sense. I like to think of it as a minimization problem. Take the results of CTCT as the base seed and see which beta and adjusted wining team of the current race will give you the least difference, for all riders which did both. This means your chance of getting a better seeding when ending in a big bunch, is very slim. You either need to work hard in a small breakaway to get a better seeding or hope they group your alphabet letter with a better one and then end at the sharp end of that group (and hope the group splits up somewhat). This can make the smaller races attractive for getting a better seeding.
  6. 0.72, adjusted winning time 1h56m24s So a sub 2h09 should give A and Sub 2h13m10s should get you into B
  7. If will probably be the same as Sportive #8, which means you will be the second group to go, 3-5min after first group. A and B was grouped together and C,D and E was next. I believe that is how it works with the sportive's. They did sent a SMS on the Friday informing which group you will start in e.g. "... and your seeding is A-B for the 2019 PPA Sportive #8..."
  8. But I would expect the two breakaway riders from C-E to get bumped to B
  9. Says the guy to scared to start in A-B
  10. How many guys were in the break from the start from A for 65km? Was it just Jack van Wyk? Seems like it is always a hot start when he is there!
  11. It was a fast race eh, my fastest ever even though I dropped 10km from finish! I blame the 100km I did the previous day on water. Must not have had enough sugar in my legs next day.
  12. I see there is a notice board on the site for members looking for teams. Never knew they had this! Edit: Forgot to say: happy with the seeding
  13. Sounds like a decent commute. My guess: 1h20 one way?
  14. Perhaps it is that pull action which you are doing and I am not. But you might be on to something. I am no sprinter my max recorded power is only 922 watts According to this training pics thing it puts me in Novice 2 https://wpassets.trainingpeaks.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/28142846/PowerProfile.png
  15. I like the way Intervals.icu presents the info. Started using power meter data in May.
  16. You guys are training a lot. I got seriously unfit in August/September after training diligently throughout the winter on the indoor trainer I was doing around 350 TSS per week for May, June and July. Then I almost started getting my mojo back end of August but took more time of the bike. End of September I really had to start training again (2 months away from DC) and found my fitness really took a big dive. FTP down 10% and lacking endurance. Week 1 (15/07 - 21/07): 7h50 / TSS 461Week 2 (22/07): 5h36 / TSS 356Week 3 (29/07): 2h10 / TSS 98Week 4 (05/08): 0h00 / TSS 0Week 5 (12/08): 0h00 / TSS 0Week 6 (19/08): 0h55 / TSS 29Week 7 (26/08): 3h48 / TSS 319 (Hard 2h43 race this week)Week 8 (02/09): 6h17 / TSS 371Week 9 (09/09): 1h00 / TSS 79Week 10 (16/09): 0h00 / TSS 0Week 11 (23/09): 8h19 / TSS 502Week 12 (30/09): 10h48 / TSS 803Week 13 (07/09): 5h38 / TSS 487Week 14 (14/09): 3h57 / TSS 307 (recovering a bit from fatigue this week).Current week (Thursday): 4h43 / TSS 370 I am now back to where I was end of July, I think Edit: Word choice not the best, replaced with dive
  17. These shoes can do a 2h49 Argus https://www.firstascent.co.za/force-road-cycling-shoe edit: And I like the shoes, probably because I do not know any better
  18. These cleats works well for me https://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/marvel-spd-sl-7-degree-road-cleat See they are now R150, think I got them for cheaper. Works with Shimano pedals. I also do not really know why the roadies need different type of cleat/pedal setup than MTB'ers. Do not think it makes such a big difference (the bigger surface area on foot is apparently better for roadies and little lighter). Marginal gains...
  19. In %, two guys got a gap on the R302 and I was quite surprised at how long it took to bring them back. Do you know who was the one guy with the Namibian socks in the breakaway? The race was a little bit boring/frustrating, difficult to get to front. On the second last hill some guy put in a nice effort and it got a little strung out. I should have moved to the front when it eased up since I got boxed in on the last downhill again.
  20. But the winning time is 3h53. So the winners will get a seeding index of 6. If you did 4h41 you will should a seeding of just below 15 and with the new seeding indexes be in A group. So 92/808 riders will be/stay in A. 54 of them started in A, 13 in B, 11 in C and 14 in D (savages fault!)
  21. If it is a circuit type race (doing loops) then I would not expect it, if you drop then you can just finish the loop or go on if you do not need water. All the races I did was in this format (Paardeberg, Windmeul, Raithby, Slanghoek etc) But it might be a considerate thing to do for races of other formats (e.g. out and back like this one), help the dropped guys get back without dying. There was also just one race distance for all the different categories, whereas it is normally shorter for Cat2 and Cat3. This was also the longest Cat3 race. Edit: double quoted and spelling stuff
  22. When are we getting Cat4&5 like they have in America. Cat2&3 is a lot more competitive than last year. As a B seeded PPA rider I just managed to hang in Cat2 last year and now I am a middle of the pack Cat3 rider. All of the Cat2 riders can easily ride a sub3 argus and most in Cat3 will also be able. With it (until recently?) being so easy to get a A-D seeding in PPA this WP cycling rule of A-D belongs in Cat2 makes little sense. Cat3 will be empty unless you got a low PPA seeding because you haven't been doing many PPA races. At the moment you will get dropped from Cat3 with an FTP below 230 I reckon. You need above 3w/kg and above.
