  1. First delivery went well. Second delivery I am still waiting. They tried delivering last Wednesday after 18:00 to work. Driver told me they would come the next day at about 11:00 but never came. Then I read an article that Buffalo couriers is currently struggling to keep up with Temu orders and a delay is expected. Today I received a call that they are outside work for delivery. This on a public holiday. Hopefully they come tomorrow. I was in contact with Temu chat support and they did offer to refund me and even keep the items if it does end up being delivered. I told the agent I don't mind waiting just expect better communication from the courier company.
  2. My body decided to get the flu that's been going round the office. Hopefully I will feel good to ride. I'm generally a slow healer. My start time is a bit earlier than previous years and did not do much races to be seeded. I think this is further evidence of a drop in people participating.
  3. I used to enter events as soon as possible. However, After driving all the way from Somerset West to Paarl to do take part in one of the Bikefest events the Sunday only to get there and then having the races cancelled, I’ve also adopted the book as late as possible mentality.
  4. Been struggling with app notifications on the device and suspected my Huawei P30 lite to be the issue. Paired the device to friend's' Iphone and Samsung A31 and notifications worked perfectly. So I think I have the perfect excuse to buy a new phone now. The battery is probably the big negative for me. I've noticed it drain quite quickly even with just setting up profiles.
  5. Thanks. Will definitely try to get more time in the saddle over weekends
  6. I use a smart trainer. Did an ftp test and then followed a suggested workout program that garmin gave based on my ftp test.
  7. Thanks for all the advice so far. Once my heart rate monitor arrives I'll try and use heart rate zones in my rides. I'm still relatively new to using data as part of my training but ftp based has been relatively easy to get used to. I hope it will be the same for heart rate training.
  8. Hi All I have been doing a lot of my riding indoors on the trainer according to a power based training program. Went for a ride yesterday and today without any power data. What tips do you guys/gals have when cycling outdoors and only going on perceived effort? This morning I found I would tend to overshoot my abilities and tire quite quickly. Hopefully I can save up for a power meter soon. Thanks in advance
  9. FInally managed to take the unit for a test ride. Was a short ride but the setup was easy. Data seems to be accurate and easy to edit fields on the device. Unfortunately I'm still struggling to get notifications on the device. Could be compatibility issues with my phone. I still need to test out the strava live segments hopefully tommorow. Battery does seem to drain much quicker than other devices that I've read up on but for my riding it's suitable. Even on lower brightness I could still see clearly. I'm still waiting on my heart rate monitor. I contacted Hammerhead after 2 weeks with no update on the UPS tracking site. They responded saying they will contact the courier. The following day the courier tracking page was updated. Seems the package is now in RSA somewhere.
  10. Received the Karoo 2 this morning. Was hoping to go for a test ride today but unfortunately not likely. The heart rate monitor has still not left the warehouse. Last update on the courier tracking website was 30 July 2021.
  11. I'll keep you posted on my experience. I'm not an expert on cycling computers. Only been using my watch and phone to keep track of my data.
  12. Hi. Thought I'd share my process of ordering online if anyone else is considering. Decided to bite the bullet and order a pair after not getting response from Chris Willemse regarding another brand device that was advertised online. I knew there would be a customs charge was not sure what to expect. Hammerhead had a promo running with 50% off on a heart rate monitor when purchasing a cycling computer. The 50% saving basically went to the shipping fees. I ordered the devices on 28 June at 20:21pm. The next day, 29 July, email received stating that the items were ready for shipping. The items ship separately. The computer ships from China with FedEx, whereas the heart rate monitor ships from the US with UPS. Received a call on Saturday 30 July from one of the FedEx employees here in SA to confirm ID No. Yesterday 1 August received an email from FedEx with the customs bill of R1200 for the cycling computer. Currently according to tracking the cycling computer is in transit in Singapore with an expected arrival of 6 August. The heart rate monitor is still in the US with no delivery date estimation.
  13. I've been looking at having a friend bring one over from the UK when he comes on holiday.
  14. Decided to take the plunge and purchase a smart trainer after getting too much anxiety worrying about cycling outside alone. Now to just sort out my room to minimize the amount of dust that collects.
  15. Good day, I just want everyone to be cautious when cycling. Rode this morning and two seriously suspicious guys were walking just along the road just after the Lord Charles. They way they kept looking back and across the road as I approached seemed very off. One guy also seemed to keep his hand im his pocket or behind him. I ended up cycling in middle of the road as I got close. I always ride with caution and fortunately police training has taught me to always keep an eye on a suspect's hands, which is why the situation seemed sketchy
