  1. I recently bought a Pyga 110 with a Talas 125mm fork on it I also have an F29 120mm Kashima coated fork which I could use on it Anyone with a Pyga able to give some input as to which would be the best option? For my riding I don't need anything more solid than the latter fork so only interested in whether there are any other benefits that I haven't thought of for sticking with the Talas.
  2. Just to clarify - Ryder/Extremelights/DX lights etc MIGHT come out of the same factory (I don't know this, but would guess they probably do), but Magicshine is not from the same factory as them. They do look basically identical in a lot of cases, but they are not the same lights at all. There also should not be any issue at all with the warranty backup on Magicshine's and, being an internationally recognised brand, there will always be support for them. Back to the original topic - 4 year's is a pretty long lifetime for most li-ion batteries (try using a 4 year old laptop!) so why not just buy a new Magicshine battery for it which won't cost much at all (if it is a Magicshine light and not a copy)? If the LED still works and has given you enough light for 4 years then there doesn't seem to be much point in investing in a new lights for 20 or 30% more lighting power.
  3. It could be 80% discount and I still wouldn't go into that shop personally...
  4. I have used a Camelbak Lobo for years and it has plenty of storage space which is great on the mountain. I do some trail running as well and find it bounces around a bit much for running so I've recently bought a Camelbak Octane XCT which is much better from that perspective. II might start using that for cycling as well as it should have enough space for the basics. Quality wise the Camelbaks are incredible so I will always stick with them - rather pay the extra now and then you don't have to worry about it again for years.
  5. I don't really understand having a climb like that near the end of the race - not many people were riding up it that I saw (and I wasn't too far back). Probably good for separating out the top guys, but not great for 90% of the field. Other than that, some really nice tracks and a very tough fight against the wind!
  6. Thanks to a very honest hubber, I am picking up my GPS this evening! I never expected to get it back so it was a very nice surprise to start the week! Thanks to anyone/everyone who might have read this message and an especially big thank you to the person who found it and took the effort to get hold of me!
  7. Thanks - will PM him... I must have been concentrating seriously hard as I couldn't remember looking at it once after we got to the top of Cobra until we got the Chrysalis... Was very strange when I finally realised it wasn't there and wasn't even worth going to look for it as I didn't have a light and had no idea where to start!
  8. Just putting this back in the latest posts in the hope someone with some info sees it!
  9. Found!!!! My Bryton fell off my bike tonight. Just thought I'd try my luck in the hope that someone picked it up! Could be pretty much anywhere in the forest, but most likely to be on the snake trails or main DH I would guess. Unfortunately I only realised it was gone when we went through Chrysalis and can't remember looking at it for quite a while before that
  10. Great stuff - it might mean I have to buy even more from you though which could be a problem... For the guys "threatening" ASG and CWC - just keep in mind they are businesses and we definitely don't donate our money to them out of the goodness of our hearts! I personally would prefer that they both keep posting great deals on here irrespective of their response to this (which I also hope is a positive one!). Wayne and Dips - What an incredible offer from both of you! I hope that one day in the not too distant future I am in a position to do something similar for someone that deserves it as much.
  11. Going to New Balance in the next few minutes so will try to pop into Hammer at the same time and see what they have.
  12. Thanks, but that's one shop that I will never go to again in this lifetime...
  13. Do they have a shop there? Very easy for me to get there if they do... There was another tri shop in Prime Park a while back which appears to have closed, but they only had some dodgy looking tri suits when I went there.
  14. That's one I haven't heard of before - will have a look...
  15. Thanks for all the replies - looks like I'll have to drive around this weekend... Was hoping to find a shop with a few options available to see in one place, but going to have to do a bit of travelling to get options by the look of it.
  16. I am trying to find someone that stocks a decent range of good quality tri kit in Cape Town (specifically looking at 2 piece tri suits -shorts and top, not wetsuit - at the moment). The only place I know of is Sportsmans Warehouse in Bellville, but interested to see if there is anywhere else out there. Some recommendations on good tri suits for IronMan 70.3 would be appreciated? I have a 2XU suit at the moment, but want to go for a good 2 piece rather. I'm not completely averse to buying online (locally or importing), but getting the correct sizing could be difficult.
  17. Just find somewhere where you can get legal assistance and find out what the best course to follow is - I can't imagine Neil can legally provide loans to people without any form of contract or terms in place. I agree your friend was not the brightest to default on repaying the money, but surprised that he can just claim ownership for something of a greater value than the actual loan amount. What is the guy doing with an R18k bicycle (that he obviously doesn't need for transport!) if he is this desperate to get R7.5k in cash? That part just doesn't seem to make sense at all... Just to clarify, I do have a serious personal dislike of Neil and his dodgy dealings and strongly believe he should have been behind bars many years ago.
  18. He's talking about road bikes so 1 to 2 kg's on an 8kg bike! No difference at all - especially to us who train on 20km rides. Really - where did that post come from? Are you providing the definitive answer to the question that has plagued the hub for years?
  19. I suppose what you're saying makes sense, just the way you worded it isn't necessarily correct... The principle of the proposed law makes sense - the fact that it would never ever be enforced on our roads makes it pointless. Our roads just aren't designed to allow that sort of space for cyclists. This would basically mean that traffic on the Main road (I'm in CT) would be backed up for ages behind the commuter trundling along on his way to work at 15kph as it would be illegal to pass on the majority of the road (the law would apply to your gardener on his bike as much as it applies to you); Constantia Nek would be completely impossible to drive up from any direction because of one slow cyclist; you'd be lucky if the cyclist sat right on the left hand edge of the road on Ou Kaaps which might give you 1.5m to pass on occasion (if he was in the middle of the yellow line then you'd be stuck). Basically it just isn't logical as there are situations on the above roads where it may be safe to pass, but this would make it illegal and basically make a lot of our roads useless to all except the most patient motorists... The only way I can see them making this law enforcable is to ban cyclists from any road that does not have a yellow line area at least 1m wide giving motorists sufficient space to legally pass them. Maybe that is the solution to make the roads safer for cyclists - only allow us to cycle on safe roads or just accept that you are making the choice to take a risk and you need to accept the potential consequences? I know that Constantia Nek is extremely dangerous to cycle yet I choose to cycle it a few times a week - if I come short it will suck, but I understand there is that risk and I could go an alternative safer route if I wanted.
  20. I am guessing here, but would think the CPA would give you the right to return them if they didn't fit irrespective of any policies of theirs especially if they are unused.
  21. After a lazy morning today, I'm thinking the same thing...
  22. Sounds good - provided all profits go to a meaningful, relevant cause! Can't stand the idea of people trying to profit off of an incident like this...
  23. How many drivers do you think have actually heard of the 1.5m campaign in reality? I've only heard of it through cycling channels - never seen or heard a word about it as a driver. Got to admit I am starting to rethink road cycling a little now - not sure I will be truly comfortable on the road at any point so debatable if that's worth it.
  24. That definitely should not feature amongst that shopping list in the opening post! My view - buy whichever looks best to you as they are all awesome bikes. All of them are good enough for the biggest tours/races in the world so are definitely good enough for any/every hubber... The opinions you get on here are going to be biased based on ownership/looks and/or a review someone read somewhere (when there are always many other reviews with completely different conclusions). Personally I love the look of the Pinarello, but too many fakes out there which puts me off completely so the Spesh would be my choice - the fact that they're established enough in SA to give backup service for the foreseeable future doesn't hurt either! Pity there are so many of them out there though...
  25. Same chop that tried on here (Redewaan I think)... Biggest problem is he seems to think they are genuine Pinarello's and he's just buying them "direct". My main problem with it is the fact that a company has paid to build their brand and you are piggy-backing on that (illegally) rather than selling them as unbranded frames or putting your own stickers on it as many people seem to be doing. Let the buyer decide if it's the same thing, don't try to pretend it is and deceive them. I ride a frame from the East rather than a mainstream brand and love it, but it is what it is, nothing more and nothing less (and definitely not a Pinarello!).
