Still doesn't really answer the OP's question
I don't understand why everyone is getting upset about the location of the finish.
1. it was downhill to the start where you had parked! I'm sure about you, but I didn't need to pedal on the downhill.
2. if your family came with you, did arrive when you started and waited while you rode (that is very nice of them) could they have not walked up the hill to watch you finish?
3. imagine if they had had a downhill finish! Sprint finish would have ended in carnage........
4. didnt the 94.7 also have a different start/finish, didn't find it a problem...........
(flame suit on)
results are up already
Was not an easy route at all
so many attacks in AL took all my matches
Well done to the break that stayed away. Missed you guys completely
I am happy with a 7th place at 2:47 on a new bike. But I so wanted to compete in that sprint...
What bike were you on?
Also in AL, gees boys rode a great race! Proper lung buster trying to stay with them when the group split!
Well done
Also starting in AL.
I am a bit nervous about this neutral zone down the hill, as being a larger guy and aero wheels downhills are where I pull the group back, or pull away from the group, so please don't shout at me if it looks like I'm attacking. Really I'm not!!
So be kind to the fat kid!
If your friends tjune you for having a lekker farmer tan and skinny white arms.
You need new friends! You must wear it with pride!
You have put some decent hours into getting skinny arms, you should be proud of it
Some of the best bib shorts I have ever worn were Panda.
Not easy to come by as I think they cater for the Team/Club type of orders.
I have never seen them on a rack in a shop.
But damn they were good bibs.
Panda have an unofficial factory store in their factory located in town.
It's all the surplus stock they have which they will sell at a huge discount.
If you leave in Jhb and don't mind doing some free advertising for a random brand then pop into the store.
Only problem is that its only open during office hours during the week.
Awesome. Thanks! Will see you there
Anyone doing the Audax next weekend?
Back to topic, I have one of these
http://www.litexpress.com/en/headlamps/liberty/liberty-121-sensor/
it is awesome. It has a flashing light at the back, which I use when I run on the road at night.
The LED on the front is super powerful and I have even used it for a game spotting in the Kruger.
Really good on batteries. Great for night running!
Think I will wait a bit before I enter, would like to do this one. May be more tough, but it will be brilliant if I can maybe beat my time from last year.
I have a friend in Broadacres, think I will go and park at his place and do the 7km ride to the start, warm-up will be good!
Take the plunge! It's JHB's biggest race! So HTFU! It will be tough whether it's the old route or the new route! If it doesn't hurt, you're not cycling fast enough!
I am keen, also know a couple mates of mine who would be keen.
Please let me know costs.
Thanks
I have the Garmin 310XT. I absolutely love my watch, I have done multiple triathlons (including 1 Ironman, 5 half Ironman distances), cycling races and running races.
The swimming function is a little shady and far exceeds the distance I have swam but the other features like if u want to incl/excl transitions in your timing you can.
A great watch with loads of features!
Interesting article!
I first thought it was going to say something about thieves knowing where u live and flowing your weekly riding trends and waiting for you and your bike.
Using strava you can find a whole host of important info: cycling routine, type of bike, how many people you cycle with.
We must be careful what we put on open forums
Can we get discovery points for this?
Looking at for a new ROAD bike.
Heard that Cannondale frames have a good "tall" geometry
So I am in the market for a new bike.
I am wondering what is the best frame for a tall person.
I am 1.96m (or 6' 5in for the older generation).
Is there better frames for tall people?
My best is when people log there gym work! Seriously is that necessary!!
I did the race yesterday! Swim was good, just k*k swimming back with the sun in your eyes, I couldn't really see the boys so just swam towards the sun and hoped for the best.
I got a reading of 88.9kms for the ride! Was nice and flat but the way 2nd lap was a little tougher as 1st as the wind picked up.
The run was great through the suburbs and flattish, also finished with a 19.8km reading on my garmin.
Thanks for a well organized event! Legs are feeling it today but happy with the event overall!!
@Faceplant - you seem to be involved in the event. If TSA withdrew from Prestige event, why do we pay for the TSA Temporary license? Should we not get our R100 back as this is an amount paid to TSA?
I would like to hear your response on this matter

I need some assistance!
We had a sound plan for a group of us to come down to the Argus this year, things have dramatically changed and fallen apart
I have decided to do the trip myself, at the moment i have not yet confirmed accommodation and was wondering if any of the locals can advice me.
I have family to stay with in either Durbanville or Kenilworth, how can i get to the start (Start 6.38) as i am led to believe it is chaos in the morning with the road closures - any options of a kinda 'park and ride' facility - maybe a group of guys arranging transport?
Other option i find a hotel within +-10km radius of start and try get in there for the Saturday night
If you are staying in Kenilworth, its not a bad ride thru to the start in the morning. Its about 10kms or so and nice warm up. Only thing to worry about is you won't be riding with lights and there is obviously the puncturing issue.
I'll be trundling around the Cradle, so looking forward to seeing the groups whizz past
Also another thing to note, is that there were not XSmall T-shirts. My poor GF was so disappointed when she was told they only had ordered 1 box of XSmall T-shirts, let alone have female fit T-shirts.
She can definitely not wear her Small as it looks like a dress.
You would think that at a performance event, where people are generally slimmer than the average Joe, they would accommodate for this!?
The Scott Foil is a beaut of a bike! But again, too small for me! Need at least a 60/61cm frame
So which is better at transferring power into the bike?
Weight Weeeeeennniiiiieeee...
What about efficiency, converting the power you're putting in to best use with nothing getting wasted? I'm happy to throw in a few 100g more if I know that when I stomp on the pedal it's all getting used.
I can save that 100g's by dropping the extra spare tube, bomb or a pie!
