  1. Haha, true! Given that, I think I should just race open on this one and try vets on another flatish one.
  2. I think so too... One that comes up very close is Gerald's race... Any race will help with seeding, and you might get lucky since this is the first one this season... Maybe guys aren't that fit and you might get a bump up the ladder.
  3. I will be attempting my very first vets appearance. It's gonna be a lonely ride! Edit: Hopefully I won't fall like last year. I hear the racing is more "mature" in vets .
  4. Event Name: Value Logistics Fast One 2018 When: 28 January 2018 Where: Midvaal Raceway, Meyerton, Gauteng Category: Road Nice, flat and fast race. Not sure about the portholes or road surface... Nice race to check the dent made by the holidays. Go to Event Page
  5. How is the turnout on this race, normally? I am unfit, but I would like to check it out. And it's cheap.
  6. Event Name: BSSS Summer Pre-Gauteng Champs Sportive 2018 When: 13 January 2018 Where: Grootvlei Reformed Church, Rooiwal, Gauteng Category: Road This event is this Sat in preparation for the Champs. I am sure it's a nice way to check if you are up for what's coming... Please merge if there is a thread already. It is now timed by Racetec. Nice! Go to Event Page
  7. Yes, that part. But I don't see it happening... it would not be economical for them and they did not ask for my sizes. Haha! Edit: Nevermind. Just saw that this is a bag. I read and saw what I wanted to see and forgot all about the punctuation there. Oops!
  8. The mail we just got, does it say we get kit or I misread it? EDIT: the email about the seedings being out.
  9. Same here... I got to VA Kauai and the lady said they don't take WiCodes for breakfasts. I had to part with only the smoothie. Now I have to go to a normal Kauai for the breakfast. I hope they know about it.
  10. Hahahahahaha lol, I ride compact, so on a flat race it's pretty difficult... but it can be done. Please don't make me face reality.
  11. Yeah the marshals had some methods that I do not think we effective to get the guys to fall back. But really the first looks like he had a problem with his bike. The other on the bridge could have done it differently. Maybe they were tired or something... or maybe those were the instructions from the organizers, Gerald can help there. For a few KMs I thought we did not have bike marshals... then the guy who stopped first joined us and did that. Then I laughed at wanting them to be there. lol Good race overall. My crank does not allow me to compete for the podium... next year!
  12. BL results don't look right. I don't remember there being a breakaway that succeeded and esp one that would have gained such a big gap. That mat in the middle was missed.
  13. They normally are present at races in the morning for exactly that and to check if your chip is working... also to set up their mats. But maybe Frosty can give a definite response.
  14. I am 30, turning 31 2 days before the Fast One. Will I have to go to VA or my seeding decides? Or I choose when I sign up for a race?
  15. Last year on this one, I had just moved up here from Cape Town. It was my first ride in the Gauteng region... Jeepers, I could not breath! I got dropped, but somehow managed to finish in the top 30% of my group. Hopefully the altitude will help me this weekend when I take on the One Tonner.
  16. Next year I am racing vets. I will start with the Fast One... I hope the riding is more mature compared to A...if there is such a thing. Lol I don't trust myself this year, and I have entered for all the races this year already. I will train for the veterans in the holidays (if the missus lets me).
  17. Gerald, did you reveal the nice addition to this year's race? Lazy to go back... and look.
  18. I think so too. But then again, I was out for most of the year. Last race I did before the Satellite was the Fast One. So I am somehow understanding my seeding (not easy though).
  19. Yes, but don't other races use ASG results when they are on Racetec? I would assume they do.
  20. BL... must have been penalized after the Satellite.
  21. After being dropped at the Satellite by AL this past weekend, I am looking forward to this. I am still not where I want to be in the hills.
  22. Yep, I was caught in that. Had to walk to the finish... no major injuries, just the bike that couldn't even be pushed.
  23. First race in AL since my crash in the Fast One in Jan... ...I'm scared. Fitness is about 50% of where it should be.
  24. I just got the usual... nothing on the side. Not even the R100 voucher.
  25. I would very much like that option... I am in Cape Town those days and only coming back the Sat.
