  1. I have a black MET helmet, no problem in summer
  2. Racetec was not used
  3. I havent got one i ordered on the 14th of this month
  4. As i said earlier i had to leave the event early so i didnt manage to get the finish.
  5. One rider from Nu Water/Cape Town Market managed to get away from the main bunch, in head-wind conditions many attempted to bridge the gap to the breakaway but only one Smith & Associates rider managed to get across.
  6. Race started at Cycle Lab Paarl. With Paarl Rock and Taal Monument as an amazing backdrop. The Elite bunch set off to start the 110Km course at 10:30am. All the big CPT teams pitched up, this was sure to be a tough race for all.
  7. Okay well, im u18 so i cant change it to Public. I will post a few of the better ones on here, or if you really want you may add me on facebook.
  8. Precisly, the guys that are backing the PPA on here act like PPA are gods, PPA has helped up and coming riders in SA just as much as CSA has.
  9. Here's the link to my album of pictures from the race: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10200130667490273.1073741855.1258252442&type=3 I had to leave early so i didnt get the finish
  10. All great things start out small
  11. The guys in the WPCA that control the prize money are directly linked to the money going to the youth festivals, I represented WP at the last Eric van Enter there ever was 3years ago, ive been back up to Gariep for the last 2 years and went to Oudtshoorn last year. WP have had atleast 2team(6riders) in age categories from U14 all the way to Junior(U18) yes, WP struggle to get money every year to pay for those whom arent as fortunate as myself. But trust me if the WPCA board thought that some of the money made from Winter League needed to be used for youth festivals they wouldnt hesitate.
  12. Would love to see how everyone would speak to eachother if we used our birth names on here. Some people would soon realise that they actually no nothing about what goes on behind closed doors in our sport and that some people are telling people that have a huge influence over what happens in our sport that theyre wrong.
  13. Its a pity both Gariep and the Oudtshoorn have made their distances so long, i get that SA Cycling is trying to get on par with European cycling but instead of taking the Junior raod race from 100km to 150km, take it from 100km and then up to 115km, slowly build it up. Ive represented WP as an U14 and as an U16 for two years, and last year was terrible, we're made to travel for 10hours, just to be told we must race 105km(or more i cant quite remember) as U16s, and not just race it we must do it after we had down a TTT of 20km is the morning and the Road Race starts at 1pm and those of you that have been up to Gariep you know how hot it can get. Because of last year, i dont think WP are even sending a team up this year.
  14. It seems like the PPA supporters have their minds set on what they think is right. Its going to be funny if CSA win in the court.
  15. im sure that woulnt happen with WP Cycling, theyre just finishing off their WPCA Winter League, which cost R80 per race and all money-expenses goes back to the riders as prize money
  16. Okay fair point that the CSA dont really put on many events. So youre saying that because they have "17000 or 18000" members and has been around for 37 years they almost have the right to do what they want an ultimately take over CSA's job in the running of cycling in South Africa? Let me quote from someone else and this should probably be the end of it. "to all the csa bashers .......if only u really knew what is going on. simple, just replace the csa with the ppa. then what? the ppa is only in CTown. do they have provincial champs? no do they have national champs? no do they award provincial colours for road, track, mtb? no do they organise any cycle event? No do they send representative team o/seas? no do they coach / train teams, individuals?no are they affiliated to provincial or national association? no" So essentially theyre a cycling club just like Wannabees, City Cycling Club, Outriders and what clubs you have in Gauteng but they have a bigger bank balance, "18 000 members" and wait the best thing is theyre not even affiliated to any cycling association.
  17. "17 000 cyclists" really? I dont see 17 000 cyclists at every funride the PPA host, actually ive never see close to that amount. And yeah, the PPA have done quite a bit for the guy/girl that gets on his bike for the first time on the saturday morning and then does a funride on the sunday. But im not sure if you race or have raced one of their Spring Leagues or Summer Leagues but you have to pay Over a grand for the whole league and you get something like 5 or 6 races and then if you win you get a R200 gift card for Canal Walk, please tell me how that is building competitive cycling in South Africa or the Western Province. Our guys never never make it overseas bwcause they dont have the backing of the government, which is CSA admittedly but now youre saying that CSA should let the PPA take hold of the steering wheel but do you really think the PPA an organisation that has a bank balance going into the millions and has prize money of R200, will help South African cycling anymore than the CSA currently is?
  18. If you look at the first picture it looks like a nice day in Spring
  19. Stefan Ihlenfeldt happy with his win.
  20. We were hitting 70+ down Polka, so those guys must have been getting close to 80km/h
  21. Even though the conditions weren't prime exciting racing went down. U16's & U14s off first. Keanu Slingers breaking from the gun ad staying away the whole race. CAT3 was up next, around 25 guys and girls started, but we reduced the bunch by around 15riders, Lance Barrowman(CCC) and Faziel Thomas(Bellville CC) breaking about 20mins abd they stayed away till the end with the rest of us slowing the bunch down for Lance. Faziel getting the better of Lance at the line. I personally finished top 10. The main event was up next with plus minus 55 riders starting. Theuns vd Bank(NU Water) breaking from the first lap, Stefan Ihlenfeldt(Focus) and one other rider later joining him for a few laps. Not exactly sure when they were caught but they were. A bit of chaos on the last corner of the last lap going up to the finish line, but one rider went down, the bunch scrambled and S.Ihlenfeldt emerged the winner 3metres behind was JC. Jantjies(Spartans CC) and in 3rd was D.Daniels(MCC). Good, tough racing, nice turn out . Special thank to Peter Wheeler for sponsoring a nice cash spot prize. Heres afew pics of the CAT1/2 racing. More pic will be uploaded onto Facebook later.
  22. I would gladly use the cycle paths if i was either on my way to work(which i wont be for another 2years) or if i was training with one buddy, but to train on them with all your mates and/or the rest of your club is almost impossible,a rep from our club had to complain to the City Council about removing the concrete blocks that were inbetween the two lanes at every 20metres. And thats what many people dont understand the cycle path is for communters and cyslists tat are training alone or with a friend or two. But yes, those lanes are probably the best thing that the government has done in a long, long time. PS. cycle lanes in Bothasig are now being painted.
