  1. How do they keep track of the hours then on each brain? Or do they just give you another one thats just had the same hour service as the one you brought in? Like if you bring yours in for a 100 hour service, do they give you a different one that's also just had a 100 hour service? That seems like a crazy system though if that's really how they work.
  2. I'm not sure what you're talking about, but I assume you mean a black unbranded Giant bidon? But as was discussed at length, the bidons you want are the titan black ones that you've modified with sandpaper or a stanley knife to remove the branding. Nothing else is acceptable, so your question is invalid. But if I had to guess, I'd say it might hold a black unbranded Giant bidon, but you'll have to hold the second one in your hand, or put it in your moonbag, cos obviously in South Africa, you can't leave home without 2 bidons.
  3. The discussion on brains? In fairness, I think the discussion on 1 vs 2 bottle cages was relevant
  4. Gotta wonder if his crash with Ewan is effecting him, or if he's just a bit off the pace. He did hit the deck pretty hard at 70+ km/h, so it would be surprising if he's not at 100%
  5. He's definitely doing flippen well, and is on the best form he's been in for years, but I feel like we've been robbed of seeing him stack up against the likes of Ewan and S Bennet, even Merlier. I think Ewan might have been quicker than him if he didn't crash, and even Merlier was looking quicker than him until he decided to ride as a lead out man for Phillipson.
  6. I hate servicing it, but love riding with it. I love that there's two less cables on my bike too. I hate the look of having a spider web of cables in front of my bars.
  7. This bike is definitely the one that rules them all...... In it's own head....... ???? Thats such a good place to store a spore inner tube though. It might be heard to mount though, but I'm sure if you drill a hole through the rolled up tube and use a big washer, it'll stay in place.
  8. Lets keep this thread on topic and discuss why station wagons aren't more popular in South Africa? I mean it's literally a mini-fortuner without all the hastle of getting in and out or parking a tank or the crappy fuel economy. How come every second mom dropping her kids off at the school down the road from me is in a fortuner, when a station wagon makes so much more sense?
  9. Didn't you say your gravel bike has 2.4 tyres on it... Which is awesome! But at some point it's dangerously close to just being a hardtail with drop handlebars.
  10. Exactly like a Beatle. There's a certain appeal to them, but would you actually want to own one? No. ???? (But you're always looking for one nonetheless)
  11. Is that the post about breaking fingers in orifices? I have to agree with you. We are a strange bunch when it comes to taking pride in making things work after intentionally making them more difficult for ourselves. (like being proud of doing long rides with only 1 bottle cage, when 2 is clearly better ????) I do understand the argument of gravel bikes making tame trails feel more fun when compared to a 120mm travel dual sus though, but there's definitely a line where you're compromising fun by being on a narrow tyre, rigid gravel bike, so it's not all a win. And also the point where your insistence that you can go everywhere on a gravel bike becomes a nuisance because while you technically can, you're twice as slow as everyone in your group that is on a mountain bike.
  12. Me too.... Once el Presidente changes the lockdown limitations.
  13. Brilliant. You're obviously not a roadie though. Drop bars are great on the road when you want to get out of the wind, and have multiple hand positions, or lower your center of gravity around a corner. There are different types of road bikes too though.... The few that come to mind are: aero racing bikes - think Italian sportscar - aggressive, built for speed, but rigid and uncomfortable if the road isn't smooth lightweight climbing bikes - made to be light for when things go uphill, and decent on pretty everything else. Not as aggressive and fast as an aero bike, but still a racing machine, like a BMW M2? endurance bikes - comfort is king. made for long rides. Like an old camry. Not fast, but you'll forget you aren't in your lounge while the miles past by time trial bikes - The equivalent of a downhill bike. Unbelievably good at what it's made for. Crap at everything else. What the car equivalent of a BMX? One of those motorized kids cars that technically an adult can drive but really shouldn't? Or a golf cart? Your description of a gravel bike is exactly what I experienced though - A bike that can technically go anywhere, but that will make you wish you were on something else 95% of the time. But that might have just been the bike I had seen as other guys seem to have had better experiences.
  14. This ???? A poll on bikehub is going to give you some pretty skewed results, and they might not be as useful as you might think. Basically, you've asked a bunch of people who already own bikes, and would likely take their bike with them on holiday to Knysna if they wanted to ride, what size bike they already own. So it's likely that 90% of your respondents aren't your target market in renting bikes at the guesthouse. A better poll would be: "If you were going to rent a bike on holiday in Knysna, what size would it be?". And then also have a "I'll just take my own / not rent a bike" option. That way you'll get a better picture of what size bikes people's wives and kids that don't have bikes ride, which might be more useful than knowing what size bike I already own.
  15. Hi
  16. Perfection. If I owned that bike, I would mount it on the wall in my living room. Although I'd probably put pedals on it. What's the widest tyre you can fit in the frame?
  17. That cockpit....
  18. I wasn't aware the suspension and pivots form part of the paintwork. My mistake ????
  19. So according to uncle Pat, does this suspension not work?
  20. Yes, but instead Valverde will probably attack him and go for stage wins himself, while the rest of the team marks Carapaz out of the race....
  21. It's an interesting idea, but waaaaay to complicated to implement because there's far too many factors to consider when pricing second hand cycling goods. Basically, we all have an ability to google what the best price is to buy an item from a shop. And we all know that if you buy that item from the shop, you have the ability to return the item to the shop if something goes wrong, which can be important depending on the item. So from that price, you need to reduce your second hand price based on a number of factors: age, condition, usage, desirability, not getting a warranty, availability of alternatives, stock of the item in bike shops, location etc. But that will differ from item to item, even if it's the same thing. I guess some rules of thumb would be that if you're selling something that's brand new (as in COMPLETELY unused, in the packaging), you can take around 25% off the best new price. After that, it's all a negotiation. But googling a bit and looking at other ads can give you a good idea of how other people value stuff. And if you're not in a hurry to sell something, it's also okay to advertise something at a price that you think is maybe slightly optimistic, and then rather than negotiating with every responder, every week drop your price by R50 or R100 or R500 (depending on the item) until you get your asking price.
  22. But not as bad as a seatpost cage....
  23. Why does no one put cage mounts on the bottom of the top tube? Seems like an obvious place to store a bottle? To throw some fuel on the 2 vs 1 bottle cage debate... My epic's suspension seems to work quite well and I have 2 cages? ????‍♂️ Anyone care to explain why you have to choose one or the other?
  24. Big ride from Froomey today though... He moved up 13 places on GC, and is now only 24 seconds behind Cav.....
