  1. I now use the trim detail cans from Midas vs Mr Min. Works just as well and you can get a really big can for cheap. The best product I found recently is brake cleaner spray. Works wonders in keeping brakes clean (as you would expect:)) but also cleans other stubborn hard to get to parts well . You can pick it up for cheaper in Midas making it a little more affordable.
  2. 6''6'and 115kgs. I started on 180mm X 2 and subsequently put a 203 on the front. It was the difference between stopping and not. Have the alligators from CWC on now and they work as good as the two piece and slx rotors I had previously although I will be shortly fitting my two piece formula rotors so should have a good comparison point then. Two piece rotors do however look great!
  3. Got both (well rx1's but same calipers), I am a very big guy by cycling stds and the Formula are alot stronger in my opinion.
  4. If you mean the thread in the frame has come loose a new thread can be riveted in place (sure there is some official name for it) any engineering shop and most bicycle shops.
  5. The other unintended consequence as it is with Seikos, Rolexs, Oakleys, etc is that as the fake numbers increase there is a tipping point where the real versions are assumed to be fake by everyone as the going in position. Of course never an issue for me ... I am not a poser of course ... but it undermines the brands traction and has significant impact on sales. Before I get flamed maybe I should admit ....I may be a bit of a poser
  6. I remember when I was a laaitjie - we ate chomps - kit kats were too expensive. Today I spend thousands on the next bright shiny thing that catches my attention with little or no consideration. Why because quite frankly I can. Cost is relative. Your R1000 is my R100 is a less fortunate persons R10. The fact that the bike is R91k is entirely relative not to your reality but to Andrews. If that is how he spends his money so freaking what, its his cash and sadly only for you it may be far less of a consideration than you buying a set of new brakes. Don't knock just because you can't do it. The fact that he is pissed is understandable and fully justified and the fact that he warns guys like me that in good faith and recently new to the game who would trust a shiny fronted shop is commendable. What I find ironic is that people passing comment and judging are the same guys that will come on here with their other 100000 post mates and bitch about the most arbitrary supposed slights they suffer and receive any number of shoulders to cry on. Andrew - unlike so many deeply gifted individuals who supposedly can sum up the entire circumstance of a situation based on two sentences - I accept at face value your warning. Thanks for letting us know and good luck from one of the dead ordinary okes here.
  7. The organisers have the right to do what they want affording you the right to either agree and participate or not. That said I cannot follow an argument that somebody is searching for a route on Strava and plans to ride it through obviously private land. If they want to ride 'virgin' track Google earth will probably allow them to easily work out the details themselves. It seems like making the argument to ban lead because it could be used in bullets which could be shot from a gun which could ...
  8. Really happy that everything is ok, must have been *** scary. I do that route from Noordhoek a couple of times a week and it is a big wake up. My only consolation is that nobody would want to touch a bike with that much sweat on it perhaps it is an idea to setup some type of informal group?
  9. Works likes a bomb well worth it!
  10. Firstly a warning, they call it the beach cause it has sand and fact - fat guys on mtbs sink into it rather quickly - weather is a little dodge here in Stuis but it was great to get out on the bike this am! Read the thread for the first time in quite a while and I was really touched by the candid replies i will remember that the kakest thing for me was to lie in the hospital ward with a bunch of guys that are at least late fifties (no offense nor taking anything away from anyone - peace and love:) and for the nurses first comment to be wow but you are young. Shame is a nasty thing and I felt deeply ashamed by my weakness - typical south african male. Not looking for a Dr Phil moment here, but guys it really does make a difference to hear other 'young' guys stories! It certainly makes me feel well ... less lonely - which is awesome! Yes us MI survivors will always have a subconscious tinge but I also believe that if embraced it can actually turn into a very positive life affirming reality. Here is to a 2014 a new year and no doubt a good start to many many more. I absolutely 100% agree that internet diagnosis and treatment is a BAD idea but given the scant medical 'feedback' one gets I will let you know ho it goes after the appointment with the non invasive cardio.
  11. Cheers for the replies guys. Not that this is something that I would wish on my worst enemy, but it is great to hear from guys that have been through the same thing and have come out strong. I know I went through years of turmoil before I recovered a semblance of the previous me. Support from guys that have experienced this is worth a great deal because one know it is not patronising. If I in turn can provide some of that support I am more than happy - pay it forward! Teardrop - ek is te vol k&k as jy vir my vrou vrae ten minste I hear you as I do have a tendency to overdo things! I have seriously relooked at my approach and although I will continue to aim high the immediate urgency will need to be toned down. As my little pic says - I may not win immediately but I will win definitely! I will merely build up to what my body can handle comfortable over time, there is no rush. I have through my GP been referred to a non invasive Cardio in Constantiaberg. Have an appointment in the new year. What he does is take a look at all of the risk factors (comprehensive if you consider the blood test list!) and will advise you of what exactly you can do to reduce the risk as much as possible in his considered opinion. This is what I have missed from my Cardio. Don't get me wrong he is a great guys but he addresses my questions in a general sense with pretty dismissive answers like "The rest is in Gods hands". While I do agree with him, what I have been looking for is the latest thinking. I don't think the general docs have a clear view on premature CAD in all honesty. If the interweb searches I have done is anything to go by there is scant little available in fairness to them. I want to know that I am doing everything I can do. So lets see what he says. I will post back here with my experience.
  12. Ditto from my side very fast and efficient service with great end result.
  13. Shot for the feedback okes - will definitely look up Dr Schwelnus!
