  2. Please keep me posted Frosty. Missed the deadline mate
  3. @Ary_Mo Will follow back!
  4. Awesome stuff bud! All the best. You will be fine there
  5. Last year we did 2:26 in the lead B group! Could've went quicker but we cruised for a while after catching the accident in the Elite ladies bunch & missing an accident too near the finish. Going to be racing A this year!
  6. In the days preceding the race, I usually eat Pasta & Rice dishes. Pasta is perfect for Carbo loading. Aim for Carbs from Friday evening. Try & have your breakfast at least 2 hours before your start. Bowl of Oats, some Toast & Coffee will go a long way. Cereals are fine too. Banana's are a must. Try & sip on an energy drink before your start, staggered intervals, not too much, then you will run to the bush. Try and eat every 30-45 minutes after your start, a bite of an energy bar or a gel every 45 minutes should be ok. 5 hour ride would require some sort of Carb replacement. (Banana's, Energy bars, Biltong, baby potatoes or gums) Also, sip on your bottles every 15 minutes or so. PS - Don't eat anything your body is not use to. Don't try new products as well. Other than that, enjoy your race!
  7. Feels so good seeing my name on Page 1 of results! (Albeit without the Elites/ Vets)
  8. Seeding's have been sent by SMS earlier. Starting in AL Lets do this!
  9. Bad post nasal drip & flu 2 days ago... Over medicated with Anti-Histamines, Corenza C & ACC 200 Feel OK but I'm still heavily congested... Vicks to clear the muck by the weekend hopefully!
  10. Weather around this time is pleasant too. Gets up to 30 Deg in the late morning!
  11. I know some guys who travel on the morning & spend the day there with their families as cyclists get free entry. Staying over is much better, but depends on finances & availability. I stayed over at the Cabana's & they provide special breakfast for the cyclists & start pen is a nice warm-up from the accommodation.
  12. Thanks Gerald! Much appreciated... Whats the total elevation ?
  13. Definitely new route! I remember those bumps too well. (2014, 2015) Old Classic route don't have those bumps from what I hear from guys who raced previously. Similar profiles to Fast One & Emperors
  14. http://www.cansalostcity.co.za/ The Bestmed Cansa Lost City Classic is delighted to announce that the 2016 road race returns to the original route for this year’s 19th edition of the popular event. To facilitate the change, which will now offer distances of 103km and 70km, the road race moves away from its traditional Saturday slot and will take place on Sunday, 21 August. The MTB Classic now fills the Saturday slot (20 August) over the weekend cycling festival. The reason for the event discontinuing the popular old route three years ago was the increase in traffic volumes - in particular heavy mine trucks – on the R551 from Thabazimbi, which the race came across from 23km to 45km. Never did the Classic old route, just the new 116km for the last 3 years. Thoughts? Will give race a go, always enjoyed the 116km route, Fast & Flat. http://s30.postimg.org/6naeig1i9/103.png 103km Route Profile http://s28.postimg.org/9red4yyl9/image.png 70km Route Profile

    Lost city 2014

Looking forward to this race this weekend.
  20. Good race all in all. Expected more riders in total but very few entered it seems. Awesome marshaling, nicely organised and great day of racing. Weather was good. Lots of cross winds but weathered the tough winds. Started in A, Shew, Pace was hectic. Got dropped on the main climb to the turn around. Picked up some fast guys on the way back. 4 of us from about the 70km till the end. Averaged close to 38-41kmh at times. Thanks guys for sharing the load/pace & getting us through. Finished on 3:03 Just missed my sub.. But Chuffed with 3:03 for a 110km race.
  21. Race Entered. 1st Time doing this race. Hectic Drag in the middle I see.

Exactly a year since I started Road Cycling. Was an awesome race, lekker fast & flat (If route is still the same) with a slight bump Those railway tracks are a tad trickey, but nice route. Looking forward to this.
