  1. Thanks. There is also the new mapmyride.com - very nice, mygarmin.com and motionbased is so 2008!
  2. Is the bubbles where the spokes connect to the rim?
  3. I only have some of Jonkers, Tokai, and Lebanon (should have Oak Valley within the month) - do you want to (or will you) share yours on Jonkers and maybe some others? Or is that taking advantage? Maybe one can have a dedicated forum for those? Always helpfull.
  4. Let us know how todays' meeting with her goes anyway. Maybe a polygraph test? There are quite a few people who can administer one of those, but not sure what the pre-requisites are for those.
  5. I have given this some thought, as initially the guys coming up the single track confused and sometimes annoyed me a bit. But I figure it makes a lot more sense for the guys going down to give way, as gravity is in your favour - if you stop on a technical climb, it is very difficult to start cranking again, so it makes sense.
  6. I think this concept will carry on for a long time still. Does not matter how big or small the issue is, OT realized he made a mistake and owned up to it, no excuses, no reasons, taking full responsibility and apologizing. Reading through the responses, it is clear that most hubbers think that you might have over reacted Fever - so you have a chance to be the big man and apologize.Wernervdmerwe2008-12-12 11:01:34
  7. Fever - I take it you are not one for apologies?
  8. wow - their site gives me a mid-life crisis! Too many nice things... when you finalizing order?
  9. When they coming? If they not uber-fit, maybe we can go for a ride together, have 2 spare medium HT. My elbow is broken till 13 Jan though.
  10. Also downhill adventures in town... Jonkers and dirtopia also, but Boulders and Outlands though...
  11. Dunno if this is hijacking or assisting... I have a Giant Alias (http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-au/bikes/mountain/1131/28948/) frame with a Dart 2 fork avail. The alias is a better frame than the Reno, but not as good as for example the xtc's. It is classed as a "sport" frame. Also have a spare Giant Boulder (http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-au/bikes/mountain/714/22612/) complete (with bar ends!) we keep for the people wanting to ride without bikes that my wife wants to sell, as we now have yet another spare bike as I upgraded mine. The Boulder is not as good as the Alias, will not recommend the Boulder is you want to do any sort of jump Guess the boulder (2007) is worth around R1500? I would presume the Alias (2008) and Dart2 maybe also R1500? Both medium. Not sure if the prices are right, so the more knowledgeable guys might be able to give some input on that.
  12. Made a huge difference for me as well
  13. In the words of Fanie.... pic on couch please!
  14. My understanding is you can roll over bigger things (rocks, roots), science holds that you can roll over anything that is lower than your axle, so greater wheel size means bigger obstacles can be rolled over.
  15. According to this: http://www.foxracingshox.com/fox_tech_center/owners_manuals/07/eng/rear_shocks/float_rp2.htm it is 300psi
  16. Thanks - very helpful. So a slacker head angle will count against you in technical climbing and switchbacks, but count for you in straight downhill trails... Just want to make sure I am not gonna make a complete ass of myself when I go cycle with guys with other bikes - last thing I want to do is bring a hardtail on a ride where everyone rides AM bikes - leaving me in the sidelines
  17. Greetings, I am not too familiar with the physics and science behind the different geometries. My question is how does the type of frame impact the ride? I understand for example a downhill frame being stronger (therefor more heavy) and with a slacker head angle your center of gravity is more to the back, which makes perfect sense. My question is more the differences between for example an all-mountain frame vs a trail frame or xc frame, when it comes to e.g. switchbacks etc? So the finer changes, excluding climbing and bombing over bigger stuff and higher jumps if that makes sense...
  18. I see many 'polish' their bikes - does everyone use either car polish, Mr Min or WD40, or am I missing something? Does the polish help prevent those nasty rack-scratches on the frame?
  19. Eish - I hope you don't have to clean all the bikes you rent out by hand yourself!
  20. Does spraying the bike with WD40 or Mr Min not cause more dust to stick to the frame?
  21. Greetings wise ones! This one for the MTB-ers. How do you clean your bike? I spray mine off with a hosepipe (taking care around the hubs, BB and headset) - but yet, when she dries, she still has remnants of clay and mud. Took my bike in for something at CycleLab and got it back INSANELY beautiful, clean as a whistle, looked brand new - even in those hard-to-reach areas. So I was wondering, what is the 'done thing'? DO you take a bucket of soap water and hand wash, rinse with detergent, spray using bikewash then rinse? Apply paraffin and rinse? (If you are not a environmentally friendly person )
  22. maybe the topic should be: "It is beautiful" Very nice - congrats
  23. It is weird that it happened twice, I told my wife we can do a bit of redecorating, then the lawnmower broke, so I understand unexpected expenses happens. Also, I have had offers accepted and the people find the same product for cheaper and buy there (I have done that myself once as well though, felt very guilty as the store (CycleLab NG) had really done more than their fair share to assist, but the price difference was just over R1000 at the time). I remember learning that one can return purchased goods within 7 days on a 'buyers remorse' clause, so I would rather the guy cancel at the last moment, than him bringing it back after a couple of days and me having to refund him - as I would have no doubt been spending some of it But the previous posts are correct, legally if you tender something and that offer is accepted, verbal or otherwise, you can enforce that in a small claims court, but I agree with MuXmAn, it is not worth the effort - if one person would buy it, then another will as well. Normally I find cyclists are nice people, given the 3 that I know are my long-time friends
  24. That RD looks VERY sleek! It scares me that a pic of a RD can thrill me so much
