  1. I know you get an adapter to run 6-bolt rotors on a center lock hub, do you get the other way around as well? I used to ride with XT C/L rotors until I bought the Trance, which came with 6-bolts and Avid rotors. The Avid rotors are much more noisy, specially in wet, also, does not feel like they offer quite the same braking power (maybe just an illusion). Any way I can go back to my trusted C/L's? Is there an adapter for that as well?
  2. Yeah - we swap pedals depending on where we ride. If we do Koeberg or something flat, she uses LOOK's, anywhere else, even if it just smells of single track, on goes the platforms. But she is gaining confidence, so you never know!
  3. Dirtbreath - it is a powdercoat, much like handlebars. Came that way from the manufacturer I think. Slowbee - ermmm... yes. We had a WTB saddle on there, but the bikeshop said she should get a women specific saddle as it is better. Ils wants to spray the bike white, so we can look at a Fizik or something then. Santa - That was actually a set of stickers we bought from CRC, works better than I thought it would, but still prefer it being painted on
  4. Build up almost entirely with things off the hub, mostly great service (had to pay R700 to fix the wheels) But for the rest, WONDERFUL - makes building bikes a treat. Specs: Fork: Pace RC-39 C-Type Frame: Not the foggiest - anyone know? Shifters: X-9 FD: XT RD: X-9 Crank: Stylo GXP Cassette: SRAM 980 Shock: Fox Float RP2 Brakes: Juicy 5's Some of you might remember my question about my wife being very nervous about single track, must say, with this bike and a proper setup, we cruise at just under 30km/h between trees and over drops!
  5. I bought a Trance after a lot of research - budget wise it was the best bike I could afford. Love mine, very similar experience than you. Where are you based? There is a ride-before-you-buy at Dirtopia (Stellenbosch) on the 15th. So there you can play on different bikes for a day (R60 - own shoes, pedals * helmet) The other toughy is the fact that my first 3 rides absolutely sucked, I hated the bike, felt heavy, had no climbing ability etc. After I had a setup done, it was like I traded it in for the sports model. The bike is now substantially faster than me. Anthem is more a XC geo, and the Trance X more trail / aggressive XC. Buy a bike that will do that what you enjoy the most - else it becomes a job Good luck - this is the most difficult part of cycling, choosing a new baby.
  6. We put the Pace duplicate of that fork on (Pace was bought out by DT Swiss, so same fork) and she is loving it! I think it might be the bling factor of the carbon lowers, but regardless
  7. That's just cruel seeing that he is forced to sell it now

  9. Bloody hell! Hectic stuff..
  10. And look both ways before crossing the street!
  11. My wife is very happy with her Juicy 5's. Personal pref for me is the new XT brakes with the perpendicular reservoir. Stops like a wall and are more quite than the Juicy 3's
  12. I will wait for the next run then - I am all for the team
  13. Where can I get the order form?
  14. Have to run now - need to make LBS in time, but please don't order without me
  15. Bought my frame from MTBKid and he used UTI. Very good service, not sure of the cost - but they brought first the frame and then fork, both within a day or two. Hats off to MTBKid's packaging as well
  16. Freeriding is more of a science than I thought! I figured as long as your wheels hit the ground together you'll be ok. Thanks for the responses
  17. Makes sense, but I do not understand why, if you jump too far, you will fall?
  18. I have been watching Roam a couple of times and the one fall they explained as the guy landing too late after the jump, so he went further than what he was supposed to. My question is on a constant angle decline, and variable bike angle due to you being able to manipulate the angle, why is that an issue? I am not a freerider myself, so am more curious as to the science.
  19. That is a VERY scary image! I will agree with the plat thing, might help with combing out all the knots afterwards (ahh, student days). To my knowledge the Fox and Giro helmets stop short of the base of your neck. Maybe also give re-cycle in Bellville or Cycle Trader in Salt River a call for second hand equipment.
  20. Eclipse, she is on page 1 - the facebook link, had some trouble finding it myself
  21. Yeah, two shirts this side, me and the wife. This Anatomic sizing?
  22. Does the kit look like the link or like Wolverine's pic?
