  1. Yikes, so I bought a Cannondale Rush frame for my wife. Had to replace the headset - two options was given me, R800 for one that is not very good and will wear out quickly, or R1550 for a Cane Creek one that will last. I thought 'reducer' meant cheaper!
  2. 8 weeks off the bike, and now I got the flu! Sorry guys, this on me out
  3. I have already deposited the money - can I send you my bank detail for a refund?
  4. We gonna go early afternoon, but will probably frustrate you guys to no end. My hand just came out of the cast, so have not been on my bike for 8 weeks, and ate a LOT! So we'll probably end up doing the 8km loop or maybe lapa and back. For what it's worth.
  5. Just wondering, bought my first 971 today, so curios if it was worth the extra bucks
  6. 1-1... What to do oh what to do...
  7. I need to put brakes on my new toy, but am not sure which'll be the better option. I have the new XT's on my Trance and they are incredible, so I know I will not get the same from the previous generation.
  8. I need to buy an ISIS BB for a 2006 Santa Cruz Superlight - anyone know the axle length?
  9. In the ranges they are at the same position - second in line (is that the same as to say that no matter what they do, they will always be second best?). I like personally SRAM because of the 1:1 actuation ratio, so the index error with mud and dust etc is less. But in the end it really is personal preference I guess.
  10. I know the Recon is coil, but it feels nicer than the Dart-2, which is the only other coil I have come across. I do mostly cross-country riding.
  11. Indeed! We did that last night and it is a medium. If you measure the physical top tube, it is the exact size of a small, the virtual line is 20mm longer, making it a medium - no harm, no foul though
  12. Thx for the feedback - we measured it again and compared it again to the Giant site - seems both is a medium. Anyone wanna swap a small for a medium?
  13. Splat - that is the one I used as well, we get the Australian bikes in SA.
  14. Ok, resized you can't see the measurement on the small's top tube, but it is the same, just to show how I measured it?
  15. I hope I am being dof here, but maybe someone can help me out. I have a medium Anthem and I just bought samma's small Anthem frame. But they are the exact same measurements! The Giant site give the small a top tube length of 575mm and the medium 595mm. I have attached some pics - I know the measurements with a tape measure is not that great, but I only have one hand at the moment! Here the medium's top tube: Here the small's top tube: The medium's frame: and the small frame: Only the medium has a size sticker - what am I missing?
  16. +1
  17. It will be fine. I also had an Alias before upgrading to Trance and Anthem. Replaced the rear with an XT cassette - no problem at all. Only things that needs to be the same is shifters and deraillers - chain, cassette, crank, all interchangeable given same speed (7, 8 or 9)
  18. Nice ride Rock!
  19. How about you rate the buyer out of 5 and the seller out of 5, depending which side you are on. That way, if one person has a personal gripe, it will not have a huge impact on his score? Maybe the points can be added to his profile, like Wernervdmerwe Buyer Score - x/5 (based on x votes) Seller Score - x/5 (based on x votes) So you know how often the guy sells - therefor how accurate the score is. Only other thing, is will people actually vote when they got good service or only when they get bad ones?
  20. Mike as in Michael that works at Cycles Direct? Very knowledgeable chap, but I took my business elsewhere as I always felt guilty after speaking to him, even after spending over R3k on brakes, like I am wasting his time. I always though I am just a bit sensitive - hence the question
  21. well, let's rather get all the info. Can you explain the route you took maybe? You start on the jeep track climb, but did you peel off into any of the single tracks there? Nice start might be to go to level 4 and start with Mamba and take all the single track down, or level 2 (?) and start with Bluegum (?) Best is to go with a bunch of mountain bikers, hard to get into the sport not knowing the trail etc etc
  22. Since this thread has move WAAAAAY off topic a couple of times.... Welcome back mookyspunky - tell us abt your trip?
  23. No, not to talk to dead people with, just to fit on a medium bike..
  24. That'll make you a medium
