  1. Did Table Mountain and Block House with some of the regulars for the first time. No mud or sludge - pretty good ride overall.
  2. Shimano XT, no chain slap or dropped chains. Brilliant piece of equipment.

    Argus 2014

I'll be doing both the 52km MTB challenge and actual Argus road race.
  4. Thule platform rack. Expensive but worth it - loading and unloading is a breeze.
  5. Will the UCi MTB Pietermaritzburg round be broadcast live on SS?
  6. GT Sensor 9R Expert 13kg Add-ons: Easton EA90XC wheels Geax Saguaro tyres Shimano XT clutch derailleur FOX 32 Float CTD 100mm fork Selle Italia SLR saddle R3230/kg
  7. I'm doing the W2W 50km event on Sunday. Part of the 50km has washed away but they are trying to re-route it to keep the overall mileage. Hope it's not as wet and slushy as the Wolseley race - that race chowed my bike.
  8. Well send it in to Garmin. Maybe there is a recall on the sensor? I'm happy with the new design - like I already said: no more wind-induced HR spike due to the 'snugger' fit.
  9. This is a pic of the new version.... http://bicyclesnyc.c...rap-54800-1.htm The strap I got with my Edge 800 is pretty much elasticated with two pins that clip into the sensor, so this was a huge upgrade for me. By the sound of it, your HR sensor is faulty or the battery is going flat.
  10. Howsit pal, I sent it to Garmin head office in JHB. Took about a week or two but they replaced it. Not sure if you can buy it but the new strap is plastic on the chest area and elastic around the back. This also helps keep wind vibration to minimum so you don't get those huge spikes in HR. Will take a pic of it tonight and post it up.
  11. Only thing I've had issues with is the Garmin HR monitor. Sent to HO and they sent me back a brand new and improved strap with sensor.
  12. Big up to Lourens Calitz from Cycle Centre. He and his team are always willing to assist me whenever I need help or have an emergency. He sorted some lingering issues on my MTB, fixed my derailleur that bent during a fall on Die Burger challenge,, fitted my new freewheel body and gave the bike a quick once over. Recommend him to anyone in the Durbanville area. One of the best mechanics out there and jolly good chap, too.
  13. I paid R900 or so for an ErgoFit with Dr Jeroen Swart about 2 months ago. The chnages to my riding is unreal. No more understeer, better breathing, no ligament pain - you just have to get used to the 'new' set-up. It was worth every cent. Plus since Jeroen rode the Epic on a GT Sensor, he was very familiar with my bike and it's geometry etc
  14. You can't compare Die Burger 30km to any of the trails in the Durbanville area which is known for its leg-breaking climbs. Die Burger 30km is a flat gravel trail...
  15. ErgoFit by Jeroen Swart or by any qualified ErgoFit instructor
  16. Ok, i've worked out how to do it. When entering your race number just input the number, not the letter in front
  17. The photos still aren't up on Action Photos website
  18. Once the elevation has been corrected it should be on par with that of the quoted elevation
  19. Sunday, 18 August. Here's the link: http://www.wines2whales.co.za/index.php?id=90
  20. I've just signed up for the Wine to Whales open - 50km enduro. Think I'll do the Lourensford too
  21. Depends...did you upload your Garmin info through Strava or GarminConnect? There is an elevation correction enabler on GarminConnect
  22. That said, It was't the toughest race I've ever done. Was easy compared to a race like Fine Breede.
  23. Nah, there was some pretty steep climbing. My Garmin recorded 1180m of elevation gain, which over 42km is pretty tough. There was a lot of descents that spiked the average speed.
  24. I managed a 2:38 for the 42km. The heat was pretty hectic but I'm sure if I went harder in the beginning I could have shaved 10mins off my time. Great weather, Marshalls were very good and the scenery was stunning. Next year I'm doing the 60km.
