  1. I am 1.83, on a large stage max. Running the Rapide 780mm bar and 70mm stem. Feels awesome! But I have long arms, like a circus monkey
  2. Having a bit more travel will only make it that more fun on the downhill bits... Also, won't hurt climbing that much. I was riding with an oke on a Santa Cruz who went on about how his bike "climbs a lot better than the PYGA"...so I blasted past him on the climb back up from the Cobra at Hoogekraal and Contermanskloof
  3. Fully built up! Stoked!
  4. So here is the first pic...build should be done today!
  5. Saw your one there too this afternoon!
  6. Yup...bit of Frankensteining going on until I can upgrade the wheels and a couple of other small parts. Would love a pair of Pyga Trail wide wheels
  7. Revolution Cycles
  8. My Stage Max is being built this week!! No pictures yet...have to get to the bike shop. Can't freakin' wait!
  9. Hi all! Don't know it there will be any entries left...but would like to do it. Just don't know if I can do this and also Xterra (full) the weekend after
  10. Was looking forward to this race, but can't shake this damn flu!! HR spiked seriously on Sunday at Hoogekraal, so going to sit this one out! Enjoy it!!!
  11. Hey! Well done on entering your first triathlon! During the race I never look at my HR, because then I would probably just stop... I would suggest to only glance at it every now and then, but it is more about how you feel. If you feel you are struggling take it easy. No need to hurt yourself, unless you are aiming for a podium finish... I have a Suunto Ambit. All I did was to set-up 3 different screens for the Tri: 1 for swimming, 1 for bike and 1 for running - each having the views I prefer when doing these individual legs. I then used the "Lap" function when I entered transition and when I exited transition. I also switched to the different screen view on my way out. That way you can see your times afterward for the different legs (or laps). Just remember to enjoy it!!
  12. Hey Pieter! How was the Epic on the Sprada?
  13. Need to see the Sprada in the metal or aluminium to appreciate its beauty. The pics don't do it justice
  14. Hi. I love my bike! Once suspension is set-up properly you never lock rear shock, just leave in trail mode. Climbs superbly! Extra bit of travel is great and it is still capable of being a XC race bike. More versatile than Anthem imho..
  15. Once the suspension is tuned in for your weight it is a dream. I did the xterra full in Grabouw on Sunday. Track was gnarly, but the Sprada just soaked it up! Was even passing guys on the climbs
  16. Woolies Tri is 800m swim. Durbanville Tri is 1km. If you want to get extra experience try and do a couple of the 1st Sunday of the month swims at Clifton. It is 1.6km, but there are life guards and you can always swim to the beach if you can't make the whole way. Good way to build confidence for longer swims.
  17. Yoh! 3:59! Good time! Well done!
  18. Enjoyed it. Very well organised! Was my first ever tri-athlon of any kind. Finished in 4:35. Had a very good swim, but messed up in first transition and ended up in the "traffic". I was also one of the plonkers on the MTB . Really wanted to ride the technical stuff, but ended up walking most of it due to guys dismounting in front of me or someone shouting to pass. Gonna work on those technical skills!! Run was hard! Full stop. Now I have a base time, so it can only get better in future!
  19. Here is my one!
  20. I have one! Best bike ever. Had to play around with the rear suspension a bit to get the correct "feel". Now climbs like a mountain goat! I never lock the rear into "Climb" anymore. Just leave it in "Trail". Changed the tyres to GEAX TNT and changed the rear cassette to 11 - 36. Came out with 11 - 34. My first 29er so need the extra few teeth on the gears A lot of guys think this is just a trail bike, but I have done a few races and nothing wrong with it for normal XC! You will love it!
  21. Silverback Sprada 1. Better spec for around the same price. Bit more of a trail bike 120mm/110m travel. I have one and loving it! Check out specs here. http://www.silverbac.../sprada1_14.htm Also can't go wrong with Giant. Either way you should be happy. Try and ride as many bikes as possible. I went through the same process last year and ended up choosing the Silverback. In the end it is a very personal choice. No one bike will suit everyone (imho). But then again, what do I know? Here is my bike
