  1. Scar is gorgeous!!! Everytime I see that "happy" face I laugh out loud He needs to come play with Miss Molly
  2. Poor Ghost He must have played with the others a bit much. Hope he gets better soon. Keep us posted
  3. Wayne, you can join "English & French Bulldog Rescue" on FB or "English Bulldogs in South Africa" Just send them a request & admin will add you - your girl will find a home in NO TIME - these people are crazy about them & they are subjected to very strict home checks & hectic application process. If we dont come right with that, my mom will take her - but that will involve a stressful flight down to PE. I am so sure there is also a Boxer Rescue FB page where we could find the others a great home too. If you wanna Whats App me a pic of them I can also post on our area FB page. Dont worry - we will find them all great homes
  4. Ian, how are you for funds for the ops? Such good news, cant wait to see pics after they realise they can see
  5. Nothing like a bit of pressure & hot dog breath down your neck to hurry up & get there.... Having a stern talking to about going to visit their new doggie friends at night in an area they dont know... After the weekend...somebody was out cold!
  6. Took the family (minus the cats) to Groot Marico for the long weekend. To say the dogs had a ball is a complete understatement... They went crazy. They swam & played with all the neighbouring farm dogs & all the dogs at the cool pub there. And they even came for a canoe with us How we didnt all drown I will never know, but it was a huge laugh. Two people & three dogs in that tiny canoe was hilarious. Miss Molly dog was in her element!!!

  8. Im actually speechless - on so many levels. I feel like I cant deal with this human ignorance & utter cruelty anymore. Keep us posted please Ian - either on Fb or here. Payday is coming soon - this month there have been too many worthy causes. Heartbreaking.
  9. Oh nooooooooo Sorry TGIP. Poor Marsie - she is our special Hub girl, please explain to her that she needs to get better.
  10. You are so right Swissy! But you were first to call it when Molly first arrived - you said it would happen! It was a case of all the other beds were taken, so Motego cat saw an empty one & climbed in...then along came the rightful owner who was not going to go without a bed, so had to just get in & act like she didnt know there was a cat there.... We are going to need a bigger car for december holiday this year...
  11. No assumptions & no Judgement form me CL. Just see many animal lovers who are heartbroken when their best friends are diagnosed with mammary cancers or other deseases that could have been completely prevented by spaying & neutering their pets. Many people who genuinely love their pets are unaware of the huge reduction in risk to them once they are spayed. Its a fact that animals that are spayed & neutered live longer than in tact pets. Its no secret that Im against back yard breeding as there are animals being put to sleep each day in shelters, but my comment was not meant as a judgement of you - it was aimed more at the best interest of you dogs. Take care.
  12. Winter is on the way & Miss Molly has decided a cuddle is a cuddle - even if its from a cat! 6 weeks ago I would never have been able to imagine this sight...thanks again to IanJ
  13. You will sell them as they are cute, but for the sake of your female's future health & all the dogs being put to sleep each day in shelters, please can you put R1500 of the money you get from selling the pups to having your female spayed? That would be fairest for all involved.
  14. Cutest thing ever!!!! Brilliant idea PS> German Shepard - Bwahahaha, thats why I will probably never have one of those.
  15. Miss Molly Dog had a big weekend... First bath...went very well until she fell over & then realised she had to go outside until she was dry But then to speed things up she experienced her first fire (it was a very chilly misty Sunday evening in jozi) But the day before we had the biggest & final breakthrough in her new life...she, of her own accord, suddenly decided that she no longer wished to eat the cats. We have been working with her for 3 weeks & with the help of the magical Ian J we made tiny breakthroughs, but we couldn't stop her trying to snap at them when they got up close - it was more of an excitement snap than a vicious "i want to eat you" one. So eventually we tried short periods with a loose, soft muzzle for a week. She could eat, drink & even bite with it on but she just couldnt do big snaps that could cause serious damage. We found that she actually wanted to be with the cats & followed them around & then lay next to them, but once they moved, she bullied them. Never the less on Saturday we tried the big step of having her in the room without the muzzle on with a cat sleeping on the bed. And sure enough, she had somehow made the decision that she no longer wished to eat them Since that moment she has been completely fine with them - one big happy family...at last!
  16. Feel free to send bones....
  17. Thanks Dr Nix. She is such a happy girl. FULL of beans, thankfully we are right by a big park, so we get to tire her out regularly. I cant imagine how her spirit must have been broken by her previous home chaining her up to a gate all day...and the other night I was doing something & walked through to the lounge with a hanger in my hand - she nearly had a heart attack & went flying into the corner to get away from me But in general there is very little sign of her previous neglect/abuse.
  18. You can probably get more professional advice...but, firstly get her some raw hide bones the big ones that will keep her busy for a while when you leave in the morning (yes it gets expensive), it will make her jaw tired. Im finding it helps with Miss Molly - I forgot what its like to come home to a garden strewn with all the blankets out of the kennel, chewed up solar lights & garden signs & anything she can grab off the washing line But one wag of a tail & a look at that face & all is forgiven. Then get one of those half shell kids sand pits. Get her lots of toys & treats & bury them all in the sand for her - you will need to show her they are there the first few times, but it does seem to work like a treasure hunt for them & they get to know that is their place to dig around. Thankfully Molly seems to just be a chewer rather than a digger!!
  19. Hey!!! Look at you time heals all. Hope this one is a keeper.
  20. She beautiful - looks like she is happy. I wish I could have a massive farm with people to love & look after all these poor beautiful babies. And i wish people would stop breeding until they all have homes!!!!
  21. Yep - its bad. But you can do what I did, read about 90% of it and then stopped as I was on a plane & knew I wouldnt be able to keep it together. Same thing with the movie - watched it on a plane & turned it off where I stopped reading the book
  22. I was honestly thinking about this exact thing this morning... Is it wrong to start a campaign for certain breeds of dogs to only be issued to people with a license? And home checks are required etc. Huskys, Collies, Pitbulls...dogs that require major commitment. Even though all dogs require effort, we cant deny that some need more than others. or we need to be like Finland & not be able to buy dogs until all our shelters are empty
  23. Was thinking about her the whole weekend & wondering how her "move" went. We will find a home for her - just need to network. But my word I felt so sad when Ian J said there are 100 huskys looking for homes in jhb - and thats just with them, not all the other husky places. What is wrong with people? How can you buy a dog knowing these beautiful creatures are locked up in cages waiting for a home??
