  1. hey capricorn not really sure what POA is as of yet, what time is the DS on tomorrow, I might make a turn there.
  2. same route as the map on the first post. start at beacon, finish at bin at bottom. I am sure we can hook up sometime...you riding tomorrow afternoon/evening?
  3. brussel works on Sundays brussel is keeping the pressure on, new time: 5:25
  4. mmmwhahahahahaahahah maybe there is something in the clown bikes thing? FYI mtbmom is not that old mtbmon is my sister, maybe mtbmom has good genes I think this has become great fun!
  5. sorry not a roadie - used to be 15 years back I ride one road race a year the DC Seriously though, if you guys need some lessons in going fast just shout, I'm more than happy to oblige hehehehehe
  6. follow this link download the map and you will see you park at the bottom of yip de jaager road
  7. would be interesting to compare the time between the two...the immediate left gnarly one is great fun but slow and short, the other route is longer but high speed...you might find the steeper gnarly one is quicker though, so you could shave a few seconds if you've got the balls
  8. yeah what should we add in?
  9. yip, the trail is pretty smooth so it's going to be faster on a hardtail for sure
  10. OK so my competitive spirit is getting out of hand here. new time 5:29 GPS track of the route below
  11. From the camel humps: continue for 100m through grass then sharp left weaving through undergrowth and then dropping onto the contour next to the dam. continue down, hugging the edge dam all the way down towards the dam wall of the second dam. At the dam wall there are two options - no real difference so you can choose, left route is less steep. Then continue through sweeps and take right fork near the end pop out onto farm track and down to the metal dustbin (now mangled) updated pic to clear any ambiguity (text not that clear... in the middle there is a fork where you must stay right to keep alongside the dam)
  12. I was just about to write to clarify...personally I like the whole run down to the bottom. heading out for a ride shortly and I might do a run if I am out that way...I have a seriously competitive streak
  13. after the compressions you go on for another 50 meters or so....added pic to show OK so I just did a30 minute ride to loosen the legs after the weekend. I did it in 5:56 from touching the beacon to touching the demolished rubbish bin at the road on 29er hardtail. almost killed a laatjie hoping to "score" with his girlfriend almost killed myself twice too
  14. thankfully I work odd hours so I can pick the quietest part of the day
  15. describe the run so I know EXACTLY where...If I kick your butt I don't want whining later hehehehe It seems like from beacon you take the sweeping track down to the trees, across the first bridge down the rooty drop off then across the second bridge, then the very tight hairpin. Then you have two options, camelhump or new bridge to the right, down track, hairpin left then drop down onto contour next to dam. Then it looks like a pretty straight run down to the dam wall keeping to the right and not taking the left forks. Then at the dam wall again your have two options: down the rocky steep one on the right and rocky but less steep one on the left. Then through the sweeps keeping alongside the river to come out at the last exit and down to the road where you hit the stopwatch does that sound like it? gotta make sure we get this right...I am heading out in 30 min to see how fast
  16. motorbike shops will have belray oil...in any weight you want...
  17. fasttrack LK are good. bontrager jones XR are good. currently have an maxxis ikon on the back - also great on the not so good side conti are rubbish...great grip but thin sidewalls that tear just looking at them WTB nano are great but are paper thin too and the tread wears off SUPER quick too
  18. chain reaction has a blackspire blade that is 38teeth. I have it on a 29er and it is perfect, 39 might have been better, but I can race with the best and have not had issues
  19. what wheels you got at the moment?
  20. sorry pal that fork is toast you'll need to replace stantions, probably bushes and seals too. mundo dosh!
  21. heck 7 hour rides The longest ride I did over the three years of training was 5:30, most of the time our long rides where 4-5 hours once a week. The rest 90 to 180 minutes long I also get to points where I look at my bike, feel nauseous and walk back to the couch
  22. Banna, I think you are right, it does make a huge difference. I race and train pretty hard all year through so I don't do much different for the epic I just see so many people who overtrain for the epic. I would rather start earlier and build up a good base rather than hammer the last three months at 20 hours a week.
