  1. Be carefull when they pass not to slide off, the amount of oil leaking could cause a slick big enough to equal the exxon valdes!
  2. I stuck to 25 and glad I did! The down hill then 180 deg turn followed by uphill nearly finished me a few times. As for the second new bridge that looked great until you went over to discover a steep loose downhill with zero braking and lots of sliding! the floating bridge at least kept my family amused for a while. big up to "captain America who went for a swim in his suit and still rode a lot of the 25km route soaking wet.
  3. Only the 2 groups in 30km were joined together and started at 9am. Race was good with juice water and goo at the water points. My first Walkerville and really good. Will be back next year.
  4. Going up hilbrow tower and carlton centre to the coffee shops. Hilbrow ice rink, hyde park hotel, blairgowrie high school
  5. Really nice riding area. No permits required and nothing too dangerous. Large baboon troop the most tricky to get past.
  6. I have managed 1 to 8 sofar in 18 months of riding! 8 cost R22500 in hospital bills. Dont recommend trying it.
  7. Entered for the 30! First time on the cold one.
  8. Only a little water there on Monday. Nothing like the Summer Race
  9. Holdfast make one that fits on venter style trailers. Works well. About 3k
  10. Both my 4yr old and 10yr old ride an easy 15km twice a weekend. We let them compete in the www.like2bike.co.za series every 2 months. This is children only to the age of 14. No times every one gets a medal which is all they want! The 10 yr loves to race and is aware that she is out to beat only her self and the clock. But her vision (not ours) is to ride like Cherise Stander in years to come. She has completed the Emperors 20, lido 35 all in her own time. She respects all the other riders and knows the rules and regulations on what to do the trail. No pressure from us as we are backmarkers ourselves and want them to develop at there own pace.
  11. If it is a snake skin tyre, is it not just sheading?
  12. Yep Cancelled. I have mailed Cycleevents for a refund and they advise that it will be processed ASAP.
  13. BS! As a pedestrian you must report it to claim road accident fund if injured why would it be any different on a bike. she will have to get a case number to claim door damage from her insurance
  14. Having the joy of 2 healthy kids who get the chance to ride and run, this is a tough story to ignore. Deposited R1200 . Ref flashfozzy and family
  15. My wife has tried a few saddles and ended up on the Fizik Vesta. No more pain or sore bits http://www.fizik.com/saddles/women-saddles/women-vesta/

  17. After my mistake and crash 2 weeks ago the Doctor has advise that when I eventually get back on the bike I should consider some form of Spine protector in case I fall again on the same problem vertebrae. Having looked round I am battling to find any locally stocked items and so far have only found the Knox Venture Top. This has built in Back and chest pads in a breathable vest. Are there other options? Has anyone tried this item? Good /Bad any other suggestions other than not falling off again!
  18. Striker is the main reason I can type this reply today! After Sundays fall, striker will be retired and replaced the same again
  19. All "Etoll" SMS are fake! If you read there site they advise that contact will be by post or email only. The cameras are good but from the pics I have not good enough to read a licence disk. This is the series of pics they take every time you go under. 2 of our bikes on the back. Measures 2.8m to highest point. So far no change in classification,

  23. Thanks all. I hope this should heal in about 8 weeks
  24. Big thanks to all the riders that stopped and helped my daughter after I had a serious fall. I ended up at the bottom of the last big dip on the river route at Northern, on my head and back. I was showing my daughter the route for the first time. We were taking it very easy and stopping at the top of each decline so she could look and decided how to descend. I started to go down and caught the left edge that gave way. Before I knew it I was falling head first into the ditch. I landed on my head and flipped on my shoulders with all 85 kg Winded and concussed all I could think of was my 10 year old. She was brilliant! I had blacked out. She had come down the slope, got out my phone and started phoning for help. After a couple of minutes I got my breath back and realised I had serious back and neck pain. Some other guys arrived and helped me up. I tried to walk, this was a no go. Got back on the bike and rode out to where the help had managed to get the bakkie to. 3 CT scans and loads of x rays later. I have fractured 3 vertabae and 2 ribs in my back. Again thanks to all that helped. Regards Gordon Top of my head after fox helmet remodeling
