  1. Pavel Sivakov is also battling on and has been riding as the Lantern Rouge since the third day. Hopefully he and Poels will recover sufficiently over the next week or so to be able to support their leaders when the going gets tough in the last week. It is probably the only reason why they are carrying on.
  2. Bernal- Mountainbiking Bouhani- Boxing Woods- Athletics ( only person who ran a sub 4 mile and completed the TdF) Guillaime Martin- Writer Brad Wiggins- Modster ( as in Paul Weller)
  3. Great ride by G Martin as well. He might just be the French rider who has the best chance to make the Podium in two and a half weeks time.Pity his team is a bit weak. Van Aert was magnificent- imo he is currently the best all round road cyclist in the world . . Ineos? mmm.., not looking that great at the moment but it is early days and I am not writing them off just yet.
  4. Super sprint. Once Caleb somehow found space between Sagan and the barrier line he was unstoppable. Well done to Peter for holding his line .. he must have been tempted to just slightly lift an elbow
  5. To win: In no particular order: 1. Bernal 2. Dumoulin 3. G Martin 4. Carapaz 5. Roglic Outside/heart pics 1. Sivakov 2. Kuss 3. Pogacar
  6. Indeed, but I would like to see how anyone can define "vigorous exercise" in this context in such a way that it is logical, widely acceptable by runners, cyclists, walkers, etc and also enforceable.
  7. Yeah, as far as I know the guidelines that define what "vigorous exercise" entails were never published by the Minister of Health. It could have been a minefield and the easiest was probably just to leave it open for interpretation.
  8. Perhaps the snub (even humiliation) of not being selected for the TdF is exactly what G needs to revitalize his career.
  9. Niizzolo won a stage in Paris- Nice 2020 as well.
  10. t is unlikely that any of the sprinters will win a stage at the Tour...They just do not have the quality to compete with the real top sprinters imo. Perhaps NTT's best chance for success would be to fully support Nizzolo to compete for the green jersey. He is a one of the most consistent sprinters in the field, an climb a bit and has won the points competition previously at the Giro so I reckon with sufficient dedicated support he might just stand a chance.
  11. The only rider from NTT who has covered himself with any glory so far in this race is Pozzovivo. Sadly he seems to get zero support from his teammates.
  12. That is how it goes in football and sport in general. The supporters of teams who have not won anything are always in a such a hurry for the next season to start
  13. As a Liverpool fan I am not that familiar with all the names of the players in the lower clubs
  14. It is true but riders such as Froome, Sagan and a few others are judged differently. If Cristiano Ronaldo misses a penalty the world erupts but if some midfielder from Aston Villa does the same nobody really notices I say it with respect to Adam Yates
  15. It depends how you look at it. Is he in the race to make a contribution to the team and to help Bernal to win ( like all the other riders in the team did) or is he in the race only to prepare and therefore to ride for himself? It appears to be the latter. He struggled a lot yesterday. Besides not being able to take a turn in front he had a hard time to even follow the wheels and in a way disrupted the flow of his own team when they tried to apply pressure in front of the leading group. I think he has done brilliantly to even get to the level he is at the moment but the Tour might be a month or so to soon for him.
  16. If he does not show some decent form during the next few days I cannot see him even going to the Tour. Team Ineos cannot afford any passengers specially now that Jumbo Visma is so strong. I know some commentators are saying he is holding back and sat up deliberately yesterday but I have my doubts.
  17. He was so bad even Chris Froome beat him by 2 minutes.
  18. The course of today might just suit Mr Peak 365.
  19. Richie to pull a big surprise
  20. He was indeed very gracious.....who knows what would have happened if he did not have to spend the extra energy to catch up after he had a puncture.
  21. Lance and Jan might have been big rivals but I think they always had a lot of respect for each other. I think the fact that Ulrich once waited for Lance after he had a mishap during a stage of one of the Tours they competed against each other also played a role. If my memory serves me right Lance once waited for Jan too. I was not surprised with Lance's viewpoint of riders within his own team who had illusions of becoming leaders or co leaders ...... " They know where the door is"... Imagine Froome or Bernal or Thomas ever say something like that.
  22. At least one of the names you marked made the podium today. Mr Peak 365 obviously, he never disappoints
  23. The intention from Government is good in the sense that they are at least trying to accommodate people who are doing proper hard training (intervals etc) but in practice I can also not see how it is going to work. The poor Minister of Health who must now draft sensible, logical and enforceable regulations/guidelines in this regard has been set up for failure imo.
