  1. Can it be done on a gravel bike? Yes.. Would it be pleasant? the first 20km off course... next 2 days except if you have a leather arse your'e saddling up for some heavy "volcano arse". I did it this year on a full sus, and the last day I could not sit on my damm "Boutjies". All jokes aside, I think next year is going to be special, it's the 20th-anniversary race so I would maybe recommend even borrowing a full sus, you want to take it all in and enjoy it.
  2. All being said I think this is a good thing happening too the industry. This will hopefully reintroduce new people into the cycling world yet again & hopefully market/demand will stabilize. Bike prices has somewhat become priced for the elite, and think it kept a lot of people out of cycling the last 2 years, your typical entry level bike is now 15-18K. it's a lot of money to invest if you don't even know if you would like the sport ect. Unfortunately I don't see prices going down on new bikes, but definitely a lot of sales, perhaps clearance sales. It feels like the world have become very greedy after covid, if you can make money you make sure to drain that tap to it's fullest. I read a topic/quote a while ago on a major biking brand (Specialized, Scott or Giant can't seem to remember the brand) which the dream of the founder was to get as many people access to his cycles as possible and give everyone the same opportunity to enjoy the hobby at a low price point. Looking back at the brand now I though damm has time changed for this company, no one can afford their bikes now.
  3. Here is a list of bikes in that price range, as a mention I do feel the prices are super inflated at the moment and therefore feel I would give you their real market value. 1.Specialized Evo Comp Alloy 2020 - R30k - R32k 2.Silverback Stratos Al 1 2020 - R30k - R35k 3. Merida ninety six (carbon)2019, 2020 - R35k, I sold one for 28k a year ago. 4. Merida one twenty 9.600 2019-2020 - R28 - R33k 5. Cannondale scalpel si 3 2018 - if your lucky you can pick one up at R35k. 6. Scott spark 900 expert comp alloy 2020 - R31k I do feel these should be the market related prices, *I just saw a 2020 specialized chisel for 25k. and thought dam nice to resell a bike at purchase price 2 years down the line.
  4. Thank you for everyone’s input, I really appreciate it. I will put some thought to it and decide what to do. Its a long term decision and I’m still young (28), so age is at-least on my side. I’m a relatively active person so to be fully functional again would be nice.
  5. I recently had a hefty crash on my beloved bike. I was diagnosed with a AC joint separation grade 3-4, it seems like a very common injury in the biking world. People and doctors seem to be 50/50 split on surgery and non-surgery. Anyone who had this injury and what route did you opt for? How is your recovery going and lastly any advice?
  6. Awesome! Very happy for you, looks like a mean bike and definitely something to show off with.💪🏻
  7. Is the aspen not a generally wide tyre?
  8. Been looking for one the last two weeks in a size LARGE! my luck is out, called about 15 stores, no stock! Awesome bike, really really jealous!
  9. This is Awesome!!!!
  10. Robert, you have hit the nail in the coffin on this one. So nice to service a bike yourself, getting to know how all the things work together and then there is the pride part, instead of using just enough grease, you use way to much and top of the line grease for those bearings. Tools are a heavy investment, but damm nothing like that feeling.
  11. So we all know the risks of buying second hand! But what can we do if you where never told of a crack in an aluminum triangle when buying it from it's original owner. Any decent person would take back the bike and and refund a person as he can do a warranty claim on the frame then. But looks like we have run out of decent people, what's your thoughts on this? Is there any legal advice on this, is it even necessary for all the fuss. Let me know.
