Just a question. Even if it is more than 3 times the traffic of last year, it won't be more than 1300 entries (total entries for both races). 1300 concurrent entries are not that serious or was it a bandwidth issue ?? Was just wondering...

My daughter made a plan to ensure she doesn't cycle by herself

I want to do two experiments. I will build a wheel with spokes that are not tensioned (using 1.5mm steel cable for spokes) and one that is tensioned with the same type of spokes (will use cable tensioners). I foresee that the wheel without the spokes tensioned will be usable in a straight line and will show that the hub hangs on the rim. The other wheel will be tensioned then we need some crazy dude to test the durability of it by jumping with it. Any takers? And anybody who want to sponsor two hubs and two rims for science? You can have it back afterwards :-) If this all works I will get some thick building line (that yellow fish gut stuff) and replace the cable with it so we can take some pictures and make videos.

If the weight is not hanging from the top spokes, why is it possible to make a wheel with fish gut as spokes and ride it? I remember as a child there was a bicycle like that (with gut for spokes) in the science exhibition of the Potchefstroom University (in the Spinnekop Gebou) and I have always used that as a reference when trying to understand different forces working on an object. But these principles are very vague in my head since it's been 17 years since I attempted to study structural engineering.

No issue like that. Just a problem that I can't fit even an hour on the 4GB memory card. On Friday I filled the memory card with 53 minutes of video....

As said before. It has nothing to do with the price or margin or markup. It is about doing business with honest people.

It is obvious that we have 4 camps here. Dealers not on the list, dealers on the list, customers that think the LBS' had the right to collude and those of us that say that we do not deal with people who are not honest. I couldn't care less what you do for the sport or not. If you gain illegally, you will not see my money. And it has nothing to do with the prices. I paid overinflated prices for more than 2 years with the idea that at least I get good service from my LBS. If it is true that they did collude, I will take my business to some other LBS that is equally expensive, but also have good service and is NOT on the list. Let us forget about how the thing got reported. The important thing is we have people that notified the authorities of an illegal practice and the authorities acted on it. The shops and wholesaler implicated can state their case and appeal the findings. Until it has been finalised I reserve my judgement. I did give my LBS owner an opportunity to give his side of the story and he just point-blank told me he had nothing to do with it. Now his shop is on the list. I want answers. I cannot take it when people lie to me. I cannot take it that I toe the line and other people break the rules left right and centre and get away with it. So let us all be adults and wait for the final findings. Let us stop the name calling, insults and personal attacts as it is not going to help anything.

I understand what you are saying, but where do we draw the line? Do I have to feel the same way if I do price hunting? What if shop A doesn't make enough money to pay salaries. Should they put in an advert and tell us to buy from them because they need to pay salaries? I feel for the people other than the owners that will feel the effects. But enough is enough. I see Thule advertises on this site. Maybe we should ask admin to remove their adverts (if proven guilty)?

Not if you have spent nearly R75k in the last 2 years at one of the places that were implicated. Especially after I asked them when the news broke if they were part of it. The owner told me they were not part of it at all. If the investigation is completed and they are found to be guilty, they will not see a single cent of my money again. Then I would rather buy from Cajees as they have cleaner business principles than the abovementioned companies.

Would be awesome if everyone would do that. But some of the members are shop owners themselves so lets hope for 390 hubbers taking their business to honest shops!

We'll have to use Tony Impey then..... Were you also a Johnson's customer? I noticed their prices droppeddramatically the last 6 months.
