Hi, I've been thinking NF twice in two weeks, and both times they have added new technical sections on the black route. Some very technical stuff there now. Stick to the blacks for some proper skills tests. Anyone ridden that newish drop off with the undercut? Any tips on how the hell to ride it? The landing area seems too short before the ramp up?!

I'm riding my first one. 65km mtb race. Looking forward to it!

We were super impressed. Groenies is already pretty tough, and he had zero traction on that peddle. I still have a chuckle every time I think about it.

6:30 start at Groenies. He actually did quite well in that shoe. We couldn't believe he managed to at least bring one left and one right. Really good reason to put cleats on your work shoes!

Haha. Thanks for all the responses. I was also thinking the sand river might offer some trails. I lived in Virginia for a long time but never rode off road. I'll go find that old mountain bike Park. Thinking a ride to Virginia, ride around the trail, and then ride back to welkom. Love that T-shirt!

Hi, I know this is a long shot, but I have to be in Welkom in a few weeks, and will be looking to do a nice +- 70km ride. Anyone know of any trails / routes in the area? I've done some googling, but can't find anything. It's so flat in the Free State!

I'm sick and have a half marathon entry going if needed....

Oh, and did enyone see that knob fall off his bike in the open field next to the start while the half marathon was lining up? Standing dead still. Couldn't get his feet out the cleats. Yup. That was me.

I had a great time. My first race ever on a bike. Only did the 20, which I was a bit sorry about at the end. Now I'm properly hooked!

Hi, Have you tried seating the tyre with the valve core removed? Worked a treat on a tyre that just wouldn't seat for hours. Popped in there so fast with the valve core removed, and then it was easy from there.

So sad I missed this. As an old boy, I would have loved to ride in the school grounds.

This will be my first race, although I'm only doing the 20km ride. Really looking forward to it. I'm 3 weeks in to mtb and addicted already.
