Yea that's a crack. A replacement should be easy to come by. You shouldn't need to prove too much as the crack has propagated from a stress raiser. If you need some engineer references I am happy to help. My 2c is that there is a lay up issue on that frame, The cracks seem to be at the inter tubular links suggesting that there is probably some material missing. Finally, I had no idea specialized had such terrible build quality, look at the waves the deformation of the hole, I am surprised it lasted that long.

My Tufo sealants have been great, and last pretty well.

Single front ring, and toss it out.. best decision I ever made.

yes it can be done... but there are cheaper ways.

Ha ha, Happened to a mate of mine, got horribly side swiped, landed on his head. Got straight back up, I rode with him to the end of the race where he started talking "garbage". Took him through to medi-clinic and he had concussion. He called me the next day to ask how the race was, he had no recollection of being there at all, riding 65km, and spending the afternoon at the doc. He told me I was BSing him and when I bought him his bike back, it only clicked....

I can supply wood/pallets and all the screws and nails/screws a project like this can dream of....

I can put a spanner in the works... I have tubular clinchers... Tubby tyres that mount to clincher rims, yes they work pretty well, it will help make your decision to go pure tubby or not.

My Hilux cost me 80k, I installed my own tracking...vehicle was found twice on the road out toward thabazimbi, second time cut into every thing look for the tracking device. It was on top of the fuel tank, with power from the tow bar. I also was held at screw driver point by some drunk/high, in a parking lot, put him through a fence for his trouble... A man with a young baby pulled a knife on me for a Hilux, I laughed a kicked him in the ankle, made sure he had a limp, for 8 to 10 weeks. Also got followed a few times, but I think they realised I was watching them and took them on a few laps of the blocks. So I got rid of it....
