  1. Hi, does anybody have any updated info on these trails? I'll be there for the last bit of September and would love to not ride any tar roads...
  2. I also stuggle to get tires on wider rims. Accidentally discovered that if you leave the tire in the sun for a while it pops on quite easily. Also sets way quicker when inflating
  3. Decided to pull the trigger on a USWE "action pack" and Action camera harness ! After constantly struggling to find a chest mount that will be strong enough to stop my gimbal-setup from bouncing I decided to give this a try. The pack is extremely comfortable even with the camera harness installed and the gimbal/camera doesn't move at all! I don't usually ride with a pack because of how bulky they look and feel but this one looks sleek, feels fast and is just big enough to fit a bladder + all the camera extras. Now I have a comfortable pack for those SUPER long days and a comfortable camera harness.
  4. This is a very very nice build!Congrats, many happy and safe miles!????
  5. Either way, any bike with Trickstuff brakes is automatically an exotic bike
  6. Im Currently leaning towards the 34, it's super smooth compared the the Reba. Can't really feel a difference in stiffness though
  7. Im currently trying to figure out if I want to keep my previous 100mm RS Reba or The Fox 34... When the decision is made, decals will be bought
  8. Not brand new, but new to me Came across a once in a lifetime deal on a Specialized Sworks epic frame and Fox float 34 SC performance fork and I obviously pulled the trigger ... I also just had to get the matching Sworks phenom seat and Sworks seatpost
  9. My girlfriend doesn't ride, wants to though but the finances needed to start riding is blocking her way, she also finds cars, rocks and the possibility of getting hurt extremely intimidating. She mostly gets jealous/sad of not being able to experience the things that I always talk about so I made a point of arranging to meet her at nice coffee shops and taking some pictures with her at these places. I also constantly ask for her opinion regarding bicycle parts (color of grips etc.) just to try and include her. I also figured out that I constantly talk about these magnificent places where I ride my bike and she has absolutely no way of relating to it. I decided to try and make it relevant to her by going on walks/hikes at these places. That way I don't talk about "that one waterfall that I rode past" but instead I talk about "that one waterfall where we dipped our feet in the water on the hike" So, she doesn't have a problem with me riding because it doesn't result in me neglecting the relationship
  10. I've been eyeing Garbaruk components for a while now, did you encounter any difficulties with bringing the parts in?
  11. Im looking for a 165x38mm rear shock. I have a 2003 Giant NRS with a completely buggered shock. The only shocks available are all worth more than the bike. If you have anything old, unwanted but still working please let me know. TIA
  12. If you are looking for something NOBODY in SA would have I would seriously recommend this! Will definitely be a special bike!???? https://www.boldcycles.com/en/shop/bikes-en/linkin-trail-classic-frameset/
  13. Howzit hubbers. Sorry if this is the wrong thread but I have no idea where else to ask. I recently started running and absolutely love running on the trails! I started looking around and doing research on multi day trail adventures...I do alot of hiking but usually with 15+kg bags so started to wonder if anyone has ever turned ang of the many large hikes into "multi day trail runs" I was thinking about something like the Fanie Botha trail or Blyde Rivier trails or something like that. If you have, how did you manage to get food to the different huts and how did you approach it as a runner instead of a hiker? I am pretty comfortable with these types of things on a bicycle but now that I have nothing but my feet I feel pretty lost. Many thanks!
  14. If you are planning on buying a bike in that price range it is crucial to take the warranty policies into consideration... I can highly recommend the Trek when it comes to this. I have had frame parts as well as carbon rims replaced for free... The great support that I have recieved from Trek constantly gives me piece of mind when I ride. I know that the money I spent on a good brand with a good warranty police will back me if needed. So in my opinion go with the Trek. PS - The wide carbon rims on that bike is an awesome addition to the bike, I have the same set and it completely changed my ride!
  15. Just recieved this Carbon Lyne Pulse Flat bar, can't wait to fit it????
  16. If you're looking at buying one for cycling you'll either have to get a high quality wearable gimbal or the newer gopro with the improved stabilization. Without a stabilizer the footage looks trash when the trails get bumpy...If you have the correct hardware a gopro/action cam is an amazing piece of equipment. Also, consider other manufacturers - I owned a few gopro cameras and NON of them came close to the Garmin Virb ultra 30. It's also a bit cheaper too.
  17. Yes, I believe they are. But Im not sure of the price
  18. I was sitting with the same problem, ended up buying Bontrager Kovee elite30 rims... Not extremely cheap, but they look super nice, has an amazing warranty and is tough as nails
  19. The new Santa Cruz Stigmata has a build option simular to what you seem to be going for. The bike is equipped with an Eagle 10-50 casette and a 42T "Narrow-wide" chainring up-front So I would recommend looking at road/CX cranksets because the bigger 38/40/42/etc chainrings are mostly 5-bolt. If you are keen on using a direct mount crank/chainring then you might be limited in chairing size or brands (I know Easton has what you are looking for). I would also say that the most important thing to do is to determine what the max chainring size is that your frame can accommodate effectively. From there you can decide on the rest.
