  1. Polar RS800CX Multi. You can't go wrong. Very happy with it. Comes out with the G3 GPS unit you attach to your arm. The G3 is the only thing that works with AA batteries and you can use rechargables. They last for about 15 hours. Watch is the best you'll get with all the stats.
  2. Thanks PeterM. I don't mind riding where I am but would be great to know a bit more.
  3. Worcester race already included in new seeding run....!!! What's up with PPA this year? After the "New Argus" seeding run everything seems messed up. Not that I complain about the last race being included already but things are just different and very strange to me. They normally only re-seed on the first Wednesday of the month.
  4. Nee, 2de keer.
  5. Thanks markStockton!!! Will give it a go.
  6. Can't seem to find an email address on the site.
  7. Oooh.. and I (Vaste 6) asked this question but it shows on my comper the topic was started by madaboutmerida. ...Crazy Stuff!! Nevertheless...
  8. Has someone ordered something at CRC before that was out of stock? I've ordered an IDT on 19 August and a IDT Mat just to get the price over the amount needed for free delivery. The mat was out of stock however and aparently still is. How long does it normally take to get things back in stock? If I knew that it would take so long I would have added something else cause now I'm waiting for the product that I don't really need and it delays the delivery of the one that I actually need / or want.
Cheers eers!!
  10. Lyk my die opsies is almal ma-se-ver. Sal maar besluit of ek kans sien, maar 220 behoort my seker goed te doen. Thanks julle! Sal vir Dawie bel. Nie seker of hy gaan nie, maar goeie idee.
  11. River cabins looks nice on the website. Problem is: after cycling there to a bachelors, I would have one beer and walk on my ears.
  12. Thanks brussel! The only other way is from Franshhoek towards the N2 but that's even further. 220 is a bit far out me thinks...
  13. Jis Fanie, ek ry Saterdagoggend saam met iemand tot by Stellenbosch, ontmoet mense daar en ry Franschhoek toe oor die pas. Van daar af op my eie so soek 'n roete om by Bonnievale te kom van daar af. Het 'n bachelors (groot Cois s'n) by Olifantskrans River Cabins. Van die bopunt van die pas af Worcester se kant to, Robertson, Bonnievale, tot by plek is 150km. Dit na ek reeds 70km gedoen het.
  14. Can someone help me please? I want to ride to Bonnievale this weekend from Durbanville via Stellenbosch and Franschhoek pass to Bonnievale. My question is: Do I have to ride from Franschhoek pass first towards Villiersdorp, Worcester, Robertson, Bonnievale or is there a shorter route perhaps straight through to McGregor and then towards Bonnievale? Distance a bit far if there aint a more direct route.
  15. Will try to dig up an article where the same tests were done but over a longer period of time. What happens is that in the short run (2-8weeks) your VO2Max will increase more with shorter interval training but over a longer period of time you will hit a ceiling if not putting in longer hours. With only longer duration training your VO2Max increase is less over the short run but would pick up gradually over a longer period of time. It would therefore be best to combine the two training methods getting maximum increase over a longer period of time. Thats why there's something called base training to increase endurance and interval taining closer to peak date to increase VO2Max.
  16. Thanks BigGuy! It all makes perfect sense now.
  17. Oh, the interesting thing is when I do the Polar fitness test, my VO2MAX is 63 and predicted HR Max normally 184. Strange but I've had 3 Polars to date and all recording more or less the same pattern.
  18. I'm trying to post the graph... Daxiet, no misreading on Polar as I've got the heart rate files following a clear pattern. Fandacious, 215-220 seems a bit high but understand what you mean. <?: prefix = v ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" /><?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
  19. You're right fandacious... but how do you actually test your max. Is it the max that your heart rate can go? In my case then recorded as 206? Then maintaining between 190 and 201 beats for 16 min is normal... I suppose. Needless to say that for 16min my legs were on fire... And as soon as the burning fades, my heart rate started dropping a little and I just pushed it up again.
  20. 201 yesterday, but have gone up to 206 before. I'm 30.
  21. After doing Franschhoek pass on Saturday and maintaining almost 190 beats/min all the way up I decided to record maximum heart rate in spinning class yesterday. I'm 30 years old and maintained in spinning class yesterday a heart rate of 190-201 beats/min for exactly 16 minutes. Below are the screenprints of the whole exercise as well as one for the +-16minutes only. I can also post the beats/min recording (every 2 seconds). Not sure if this is good at all... An opinion on this? *Can't seem to paste the screenprint* <?: prefix = v ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" /> <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> <?: prefix = v ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" /> <?: prefix = v ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" /> <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Vaste 62009-08-19 05:03:09

    GPS

I've got a Polar R800CX Multi. It comes standard with the G3 GPS device and heart rate belt and works perfectly! I use it for triathlon and gives excellent data that you can use for analysis as well as use on Google earth. Battery life of G3 unit is more than 16 hours compared to the 8 hours of the Garmin Forerunner where your watch goes dead also. With the G3 you buy rechargeble batteries for the unit only and I can vouch for a quality unit that works. Problem: it would cost you araound R6,500.
  23. Bought me one with GPS. Just ask for the RS800cx Multi. More or less the same price as the one that comes with bike sensor or footpod but I'm using it for running, cycling and swimming and picks up signals very good. You can also downoad onto google earth and track your routes looking something like below, obviously much clearer and with a lot of functions. The wearlink transmitter doesn't pick up heart rate under water through. <?: prefix = v ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" /> <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
  24. Will be there... again. Was great last night!!! And nice meeting the guys from the Hub.
