  1. So it seems people prefer winter riding... Wouldn't have thought....
  2. Thanks????
  3. Excuse my ignorance, but why? Just difficult to ride through?
  4. As I started mtb this past spring and have never ridden in the wet before, I was wondering which trails are best to ride in winter? I assume that riding in the muddy wet is a bit more tricky than the dryness of summer? Oh, I'm in Cape Town.
  5. I have soles similar to these, is this what u mean by rubber soles?
  6. Have been riding with a pair of these dual mtb pedals since I took up riding about 3 months ago, I did this so that I could get used to riding with clips, had the side with no clips just in case. http://www.backcountry.com/images/items/900/SHI/SHI0099/ONCO.jpg Now the side with no clips is annoying and I want to upgrade, but I am not sure if which of the two above pedals would suit me best. As far as I can tell the only difference is that the 530's have a 'protection' bracket that also provides a bit more of a foothold??? Is the bracket actually useful?
  7. Not sure why I am always finding lost items, but if you lost a saddle bag lemme know the contents to check if it this one.
  8. Where did u have it done? I'm in CPT
  9. Sportsmanswarehouse stocks a new first ascent range which is pretty nice, but they also have orca and some others.
  10. Yip, it does help with floating, but depending on the suit and you, it might also restrict movement and annoy you. It is highly unlikely that they will have suits for hire, but I don't know for sure.
  11. I have been to a few tri's with that as the rule, but never seen it enforced. If you have one though, might as well take it along.

  13. Na, water isn't that cold.
  14. Not sure if it is that video I saw, but ja saw some awesome vids of surfing taken by drones.
  15. After seeing a gopro mounted to a drone at a music festival taking shots, I thought it would be rather cool if you could launch one and it follows you riding. Seems someone thought of it already and will be available later this year. Either app controlled, follows a predetermined course plotted on google maps or tracks your smart phone at a set distance. How awesome. They just need to work on battery life and also maybe proximity sensors for when trees etc pop up. http://singularityhub.com/2014/01/14/airdroids-markets-a-pocket-drone-for-the-everyman/
  16. I use the BNB rack with the sponges/rubbers and found that if the rack is not secured tight enough it can chafe if dirt gets between the rubber and the body of the car. What I ended up doing was getting the car polished and then sticking white insulation tape (the car is white) in a square where the rubbers are position and then mounted the rack. Just to be safe.
  17. Awesome, thanks guys.
  18. Awesome, thanks for the info...
  19. When I picked up my club board the other day at the hotel I noticed a lot of cars with bike carriers in the parking lot, is the hotel happy for riders to park there and go ride? I ask because I have seen many patches of broken car window glass on the side of the road near the entrance to the trail, seems its a common place for theft.
  20. Not sure if there is a lost and found section here, but found two water bottles on the Majik Forest track this morning. Know they aren't worth much, but hey, if you keen on getting them back inbox me.. Also, maybe an idea to start a lost and found section??? (assuming there isn't one)
  21. Aaaah.. Ok, looks good. Thanks
  22. Ja, thanks, this is the type of place I'm looking for. Thanks
  23. Mmmm.. Was thinking closer to Cape Town, maybe max 2 hours outside, so a bit away. I am rather new to this all so please excuse my ignorance, but Jonkers??
  24. I've been looking for getaways/cottages/bed and breakfasts in and around the Western Cape that are specifically located near MTB tracks, but other than one in the Tulbagh it doesn't seem like an easy thing to find. Anyone out there know of a site listing or places available? Thanks
  25. Thanks all, I have emailed the manufacturer to make sure the shock is capable of proper operation the other way around, if so I will be sure to check all clearances and watch my fingers, thanks Skylark.
