  1. Looks awesome, can't believe I haven't gotten out to Jonkers yet. Must make a plan.
  2. Yeah, I also have a quick shake option - double cream yoghurt, banana, full cream milk, and a teaspoon of cocoa and instant coffee. Might not be 100% banting, but it is yummy!! Edit: there is also a porridge that is made from tons of nuts blended with cream and some other flavourants, can become a bit rich, but also very good!!
  3. If it helps at all, I've owned a new Axis A20 dual since September last year and have had no problems with it.
  4. My 2c... I'm 1.90m and 2 months ago weighed 100kg when I started the banting diet. Today I weigh 91.5kg with not change in exercise, actually, maybe a little less than usually due to the rainy weather. The first 2 weeks of cutting sugar and carbs were difficult!!!! Moody and headaches, but if you can get past them and the cravings, you will never have felt better. Yes, meals can be tricky at first and you go through a ton of eggs and cauliflower, but eventually you get into a groove and meal preps become like any other. I never had high cholesterol, but have planned to visit the doc at the end of the month to make sure I am still on par.
  5. Got mine for about R450
  6. Yeah, that's the one
  7. I have one like this. It has a detachable pressure gauge and converter so it can be used on presta, schrader and shocks. It is a giant one, was about R450 when I bought last year. Edit: the smaller sleeve that comes out first is a low pressure one for using on shocks then the second bigger telescoping one is used when pumping wheels.
  8. Spotted this on Gumtree today, but really don't know much about road bikes so not sure if it is worth it or not, also its a 56cm so maybe a tad small for my 190cm height?? Advice would be welcomed. http://www.gumtree.co.za/a-sports-bicycles-fitness/claremont-newlands/silverback-monterey-road-bicycle/1001149745720910000265409
  9. Borrowed the wife's bike for the morning and headed out to Durbanville hills side of the world, what an awesome morning for a ride!! It just sealed the deal for me and proved that both MTB and road cycling are great in their own ways. The bike hunt continues! Oh and a shot I got from one of the climbs...
  10. Yeah please, wouldn't mind taking a look.
  11. As far as I understand it... Gooch to ground.
  12. I'm 190cm with a 34inch inseam, yet all sizing programs/sites give me different frame sizes. Will a few cm in frame size make a big difference?
  13. Not sure if my garage will be big enough
  14. And the sizing???
  15. Huh, loop me in please...
  16. So about a month after I started mtb'ing (about a year ago) I can remember thinking and saying to my wife, why would anyone want to ride on the road, mtb'ing is so much more rewarding. So as I brace myself for the torrent of comments that are surely to follow, I have found myself looking for a road bike. Mainly because my wife needs a cycling partner as she trains for IM 70.3, but also because the few short rides I have done on the road with my MTB have been not at all bad. I must say that one aspect of choosing a bike that is confusing me is what size to go for. I have inputted many bodily measurements into an array of website fitment programs and have not once gotten the same result. All seem to vary from 56-60cm, does that 4cm really make a difference, or will any bike within that range be ok? Also, as I don't know how long this sudden love of road riding will last, so I am looking for something cheap, really cheap.... I have seen some old bikes in the classified section and also on the unspoken of gumtree for around the R1000 to R3000 mark, has technology change so much in the past 15 years that I will notice a major difference between a bike that old and one of the last few years? Lastly, should anyone have a nice road bike standing around at home gathering dust, please list it, cheaply :whistling:
  17. How dare you!!
  18. Not to knock the jacket, but why not just keep some double sided Velcro strapped to the bike to tie any jacket up with. Or even sew the Velcro to any jacket for same result....
  19. Very nice!!
  20. I know this may be no help to you as this is in CPT, but nonetheless, you never know.... http://www.coralwetsuits.co.za/wetsuits/triathlon/ The custom make at about R2500, which is cheap compared to what is on the market and it will fit perfectly. You can decided on different thickness material on different parts of the body, so if you not phased about your legs getting cold, then go for a 2mm for easy on and off etc, or 4mm on the chest to keep core warm and so on. My wife bought one a few weeks back, they measured her up on a Saturday, that Tuesday she went in for fitting where they checked lengths of arms/legs and any excess material and a few days later collected. All in all a painless and cheap experience for a custom suit, if you are in CPT that is or travel here regularly. Just my 2c.
  21. This is very odd.. I had the complete opposite experience. Went through two pairs in two months and eventually returned then and bought elsewhere. The first pair broke where the cleat attaches to the shoe (pedals where not too tight, rather loose as I was still learning to ride clipped in) and the second pair started separating, sole from upper. So ja, my experience not that good. I have to say though my wife bought the newer hard sole pair and they seem to be a lot better, no problems so far.
  22. Thanks all, seems what I read was correct.. So basically give it some time to dry.. Suppose finding some good jeep track routes for soon after rains will be ok?
