  1. Good call - thanks - hadn’t thought of a woodwork specific FB group, but will look at that now. There is some really good stuff there so it would be a pity to not get a fair price, but I am also tight for time as I don’t want to leave the old lady trying to sort stuff out once I’m away.
  2. Thank you. The old man was chair of the local guild so they have been buying stuff for a few months now, although there also seems to be some stuff that wasn’t there before, so I suspect there’s been some swapping going on as well 😂. Appreciate the help. I’ll reach out to them now and see if there’s any more interest.
  3. So, looking for some advice please. My ballie passed away suddenly last Thursday in PMB, so I’m out for two weeks to try and sort out stuff for my mom. The old man was a fanatical woodworker and had heaps of equipment. He was supposed to have been selling stuff over the past few months as the folks were supposed to be moving into a retirement complex, but it appears that he sold very little and the garage is still packed with kit and wood. I’m here for another 10 days and am keen to get my mom moved to the new place and to realise some cash for her from the woodworking stuff. The problem is that I have no idea how to sell it as I don’t want randomers turning up at the house because of a Facebook ad and I also have no idea of values of the stuff. So, the question is, does anyone have a suggestion as to a simplistic way to dispose of it all in the Pietermaritzburg area?
  4. I think it’s to do with the amount of heat produced during the process by the chemical reaction. As I understand it, the deeper fills will cure more slowly and thus the heat is less of an issue in a very insulated (by the rest of the resin) place whereas closer to the surface, it is easier for the heat to dissipate thus the cure can be faster. just to be clear, this is my understanding from the university of YouTube, so I may well have misunderstood
  5. Vitality works on a system of paying off the watch over two years by doing your exercise and meeting their criteria. So, it actually only technically belongs to you once you’ve “paid” it off. update - I’ve just read the vitality South Africa T&C and see that they do have a criteria where you can give your watch away. Not sure that selling it falls into the same category, but perhaps dishonest was too strong a word. Apologies if I caused offence.
  6. Dishonesty pops up in so many places
  7. Flipping tough - that’s for sure
  8. Nice one
  9. There are distinctions by depth of fill, so I bought a 35-85 mm epoxy and a 5-35 mm epoxy mix. Because my slab is 110mm, I did three pours in the holes that went right through it, two of the deeper fill and one of the shallower fill. There was a trick to blocking the holes at the bottom. I tried two methods, one where I just used tape and the other which involved boards with tape and silicone sealant screwed into the base. The latter was successful and the tape made a mess and all the epoxy drained out.
  10. I found YouTube to be my friend when it came to the resin process. In terms of what product, I found a local fibreglass shop that had a range of resins and the guys in the shop were very happy to advise me on what to use
  11. Absolutely- apple, as the number one watch seller in the world (not just smart watches), has a lot of folks who are loyal to the brand.
  12. Spent a bit more time on my counter top. Resin dried, sanded it progressively through to 320 grit and then applied osmo oil uv protector. Delighted with the finish, although will lighten over the next couple of days as it dries. This project has really gotten me interested In working with resin, so might try something else with it next.
  13. You make it look so easy …..
  14. 😂 we’ve come a long way since we both rode our first mtb 100k ride together using our phones to measure distance and doing a few extra to make sure.
  15. I have to say I wouldn’t buy a Fenix or an ultra at full price as it is beyond my needs, but as I work for the company and get a significant discount, as well as wanting to represent the brand and to want to properly get to know the product, I tend to buy the newest stuff when I can even remotely justify it. Told my wife I could use it for scuba diving and she reminded me that I haven’t done scuba since 2004. Told her I could use it for cycling and she asked why I have an edge 😂
  16. 😂 brilliant point.
  17. Fair enough. I suspect that the vast majority of Fenix pro or Epix owners, as well as Ultra owners, would not fall into the category of ultra runners that you describe. But, for that category, the Garmin is undoubtedly the watch to go for. End of the day, we mostly all love toys and gadgets and tend to buy far higher spec in most things than we would actually ever need, which is fine and had pretty much always been the case.
  18. What battery life would you consider to qualify as an “Ultra” watch? Not arguing, just genuinely interested.
  19. As I said, haven’t been exercising. Even if I was, I wouldn’t be training for 47 hours
  20. A few days of using the watch ultra and it is incredible. Battery life after 47 hours was still 21%, which, compared to my previous apple watches, is brilliant. Screen clarity is off the charts and it works seamlessly. I’ve been unwell these past few weeks, so haven’t exercised at all, but I’m confident that it’ll do the business there as well. Battery life won’t allow me to trek through the alps for ten days without a charge, but I’m unlikely to do that, so it fits my purpose perfectly. Only criticism for me is inability to link power meter to the native cycling app, but there are plenty of apps that can do that seamlessly on the watch.
  21. Go and jump. Why would a second hand bike have to have plugs declared before purchase?
  22. Now you’re just trolling. How dare you try and make *** for a dealer in this economic climate with nonsense like this complaint? You should apologise to them.
  23. Maybe he dropped the dog turd on MVDP's stoep, rung the bell and then got a klap for his troubles. Since then he's probably been with the cops discussing who did what.
  24. I'm absolutely from that time. If, however, my kids were being stupid and an adult moered them like someone once did to me, I would probably end up in prison. Just because it happened when we were young, doesn't make it acceptable.
  25. Plug is a permanent fix, not a "get me home" solution as far as I'm concerned
