    Odd question

Thank you - I'll try him now
  3. Folks After a recent health issue, I am required to have a stent put into an artery and will be unable to train in any serious way for a month or so (April) , which is a ball ache as I am travelling over for Berg and Bush in early June. As a result, the only way that I can see myself being in a good place for the event is to use an e-bike. I think I may already know the answer, but does anyone know of a business that rents out decent e-bikes in Gauteng or KZN? Thanks in advance
  4. I've had a 540 for a couple of months now. Upgraded from a 530. Love it, except for the buttons seeming to "protrude" a bit more or something. Whatever it is, I find myself pushing buttons unintentionally quite often. I'm sure I'll adjust but it is a ball ache at the moment.
  5. This thread feels like the old days. Ive had discs on my road bike since 2019 and not had a day's trouble with them. Living in Northern Ireland, I ride in inclement weather almost as much as I do in dry weather (maybe an exaggeration but it feels like that sometimes lol) and haven't had any warping or problems yet.
  6. Thanks for sharing. I was curious as I have done something similar whilst prepping for Berg & Bush and will take some lessons from your experience. A couple of weeks ago I set up a coach personality in ChatGPT in a similar way to you, although haven't been as consistent with uploading my rides as you. I would still prefer a human coach but this has allowed me to dip in and out at any times with questions etc and, as my only goal is to finish and not be broken, I can't justify the cost this year of a Coach. Interestingly, I have access to all of the major AI platforms paid options through work so I put the same instructions into the latest versions of Claude and Gemini and got quite different guidance and programming from each of them. I didn't want to explore too much on them as they are supposed to be for work only but it did make me think about the differences.
  7. Hi @PietervS. Found this thread and wondering how this project went?
  8. I’ve tried to rent bikes in SA a few times as an alternative to carting a bike over with me every year, with very little success. Seems to be a non-viable market, especially in KZN. I also tried Gauteng last year but didn’t receive any responses to my queries.
  9. 😜- of course they launch a redesign just after I bought mine.
  10. So sad. RIP
  11. I got my new giant anthem partly paid through the scheme. 2024 model discounted from 5k to 3.6k. I paid 1200 and got a voucher for 2400. As a 45% taxpayer, the bike will end up costing me about 2500 all in. Next year I’ll use the scheme to upgrade components to DI2.
  12. I think that the cycle2work scheme is a big contributor to bike shops staying open over here. When the gov took away the max spend per bike, a lot of folks took advantage of getting higher priced bikes and paying them off over 12 months from salary pre-tax. I know a couple of dealers who are kept busy with cycle2work vouchers
  13. Stunning Bike - Congrats
  14. That's my experience as well, at least for the double mounts.
  15. That fork looks awesome
  16. New pedal day. Excited to get these pedals on to the new bike as soon as it gets back from having ridewrap put on. Being 20kg overweight currently, I reckon the 25 grams saved over traditional SPD’s will make all of the difference.
  17. Good to read - waiting for my new bike to come back from the LBS with this wrap at the moment - looking forward to seeing it in real life.
  18. I see that Rotor are running some great offers at the moment, particularly on the Inspider. Toying with getting one for the new MTB but hard to justify at the moment with doing not a lot of training. https://rotorbike.com/en-uk/powermeters
  19. 4iiii is a great option.
  20. New bike Day - using the UK gov supported Cycle to Work Scheme (with a fairly hefty top up) that allows you to get a bike, paid for by your employer, which is paid off by you pre-tax over 12 months, I managed to lay my hands on a new Anthem as an upgrade for my 2014 aluminium anthem. Arrived today - absolutely delighted. Will resist the urge to ride until I’ve had it wrapped at my LBS.
  21. Been looking for a storage solution for bikes for a while. I have lots of space in a barn but my bikes have been getting pretty syph in there due to dust and straw and stuff blowing around. I have an old stable that I use for training and wanted to find something to use in there that wouldn’t get over drilling holes in the wall for hooks. Ended up with this neat solution from Topeak that arrived this week. Uses pressure on the roof and the floor to stay stable and holds up to 4 bikes (apparently)
  22. Looks great.
  23. I watched a review of one last night (flextail) that the guy said would give you 5 inflations from zero on a road bike tyre. The ball-ache for me would be that it’s another thing to charge, but I am intrigued by the concept.
