The McGregor area has some nice mtb trails .

I also think the 947 is tougher ,endless rolling hills very few sections where you can recover but again also depends on your fitness level and the way you approach the race by that I mean if you are racing or just cruising

I agree to but don't think Hoogekraal is ideal for beginners especially the cobra section ,there will be one or two areas on the cobra section where bikes would need to be carried or the chances of a novice falling and injuring themselves would be high,and then the fitness needed to get out of the valley so I would recommend Meerendal to the rider who is looking for a taste of what mtb is about.

Would love to be taking part again this year but unfortunately entry fees are getting a bit to steep can't justify spending R350 for an hour+ ride but to all those guys and girls riding tomorrow enjoy and.

I was "invited" to ride but they still wanted me to pay my own entry fees so I politely declined.

The laws don't need to change its peoples attitudes ,its just plain common sense for cyclists to stay as far left of the road or from moving cars as possible not rocket science some people are just plain clueless and give the sport a bad name.

Thanks for nothing guys not what I was hoping to hear but I think you are right about replacing them at some stage, but before I do that I will give the resin option a try. The worn area is smooth with no rough spots I went as far as speaking to a panel beater who suggested I use something like liquid filler which can be bought at a automotive paint shop,I will let you know how it works out

I have been commuting to town from Table View along the the cycle lane since it opened and have had one incident where unfortunately my bike was stolen.I continue to to commute and am a lot more vigilant and aware ,one is vulnerable to crime on some of the quieter sections of the cycle lane and especially from the Woodstock bridge to Town section that stretch is starting to look like a squatter camp authorities seem powerless to do anything about this ,the new fencing is broken in places,it makes one think that the guys who are supposed to be monitoring the cctv camera system are all asleep ,but my main gripe is with pedestrians using the lanes they seem to have no clue or just don't care about staying in the left lane or right lane they insist on blocking both lanes.

Going to be interesting to see riders attempting to overtake slower riders on all that single track
