  1. Why carbon if weight is not an issue on a DH rig?
  2. Does the rear wheel make a big ZZZZZ sound, then you get major style points no matter what front wheel you got.
  3. I have learnt: Spares are crucial for yourself and others. If you give a tube it will come back. The wind always looks worse than it is. I detour along the lagoon for that extra WOW factor. Watch the front tire of the vehicle as this is the earliest warning (generally the ladies are bad drivers and the guys are aggro) Obey the rules of the road. Greet everybody, even walkers. Have met some interesting runners and dog walkers. the colder the ride in to work, the more special that shower is. you cant have too many lights. people think you mad as you smiling, chatting and laughing while they rushing to get home. Car accidents are horrible and is something I will never wish on anyone. You seem to see more of the damage from a bicycle than a car.
  4. I was riding at about 7 ish on the BRT. Met a guy training for the AMAShova, otherwise it was rather quiet.
  5. Killarney garden, you would have to go along Blaauberg road or Koeberg. Obs, always take pepper spray. Time should be about an hour and 15 minutes if you leave the mechanic before 7am I rode from Plattekloof this morning on my ss and got to CBD in and hour (robot and pedestrian dependant)
  6. They will let you through sometimes but its now a private road and once complete with their changes there will be no through fare allowed. I avoid it all together as they can also stop you and go through your bags etc. Rather use the BRT

  8. Wouldnt that be GPS rather than a video?
  9. Route = Rave MTN = Rant. For a R235 entry fee, no goodie bag, no cameras allowed, closest I got to see a helicopter was when they carried the doors past me at the start. I dont see myself doing an MTN series ride again. No value for money. Will go to Welvanpas any other day and pay me R30 day fee and spend another R30 in the shop.
  10. PM me your e-mail and i will see what i have for you
  11. Just the one brake? Want my black ritchey pro saddle to complete the dark knight?
  12. Then someone should donate courier fees!
  13. Wont be long before you have a 2.4 on front and somthing grippier on the back (wierwolf)
  14. Hairy still commutes everyday on his blue shova. Hooted at him when leaving town this evening.
  15. The metal makes a loud annoying noise. I have found the locl shimano prices arent bad and prefer oem when the price is right.
  16. I take mine off by just sliding it off. It doesnt come off easy but you have to pull, pull, pull. To put them on I just use soapy water. It helps if you dont have them on right and need to move them around a bit.
  17. I found you need to "bunch" the grips to make them chunkier. So instead of having a long grip you make it shorter and this makes it more comfortable and chunky.
  18. I used them and: They clean easily They come off easy enough when you need to clean They light They okay They dont throttle I dont ride with gloves and sweaty hands dont work with these. Its hard to know where the chucnky side is when you put them on. Break easily so cosmetically they dont look good after a fall or leaning them against a wall. I am using the ritchey foam grips at the moment.

  20. Was this by any chance a shop in Canal Walk Shopping Center?
  21. I thought he meant tubeless rim tape, the yellow stuff. The sealant must have somehow got under and then it just found it way to the valve hole. Come to think of it maybe when they put the tire on the tire lever could have moved the tape. not exactly sure but the air was escaping via the valve and i tightened and tightened but air was still getting out. As it turns out it was escaping under the tape (no tube) and through the spoke hole and out the valve hole.
  22. Umm, I had one layer on my wheel once. It moved slightly and the air escaped. I redid this layer with one layer and it has been working fine. I took my other wheel to Action and they put about 3 to 5 layers on and I am much more comfortable with this so will be taking my single layered wheel to them. 1 works, 2 is better, 3 is better, not sure what is best.
  23. Yeah it looks like they have an idea about what they doing.
  24. That is very good.
  25. Some reading for you. http://www.parktool.com/blog/repair-help/categories/derailleur-systems http://sheldonbrown.com/derailer-adjustment.html
