It's going to be difficult to make a call on the route today with the fire still burning the way that it is. Also, wind is predicted to swing to SE which will be terrible news if it does jump Constantia Nek.

I doubt that they'll just cancel outright. Too many people pay a lot of money do come here and do this race. And then Rotary heavily relies on the money brought in to fund it's multitude of development ventures. They would not easily give up on that income.

No, if we're going over Ou Kaapse Weg then it's straight down the M3 to the finish. I'd much MUCH rather go over Chappies and Suikerbossie than go up the M3. (Ou Kaapse is fine though - although not very scenic in its current state...)

I've had a lot of big bikes, but the little bikes are appealing to me more these days. KTM Duke 390, Honda CRF250L - that kind of thing. I must be getting old... But I do enjoy knowing that I'm using all that a bike has to give, and not being afraid of it. My happiest days of motorcycling were on small under powered bikes.

I can see the south slope from work, and it's about 60% burnt and still burning. They're not putting it out now as there's obviously more important places to be looking after at the moment. My wife is in Noordhoek and says that it's coming lower all the time.

I went out to the Isle of Wight a few years ago and they had a Vespa festival of some kind going on there. There were literally hundreds and hundreds of these old bike that had been ridden from all over the country and converged on the island - the whole island smelt of two stroke! It was awesome! Most of the bikes had serious work carried out on them and were spotless and full custom. Why not fly down here and then ride it slowly back up camping along the way. Make an adventure trip out of it.

An Exige is like sitting on a couch in comparison Exige / Elise is second on my list of cars that I thought would be awesome and weren't what I expected.
