    City of Cape Town owns the land where the new trails have been built, but it's a small piece of land. If you venture further up and into the Roodeberg conservancy (at the top of Black Hill) that's owned by SAN Parks and you need to have your activity permit. If you don't have a permit, there's still fun to be had by going up and down though - there's a dedicated 'up' track. But also remember that they're still being built! So don't flood the place expecting perfection...

    My point was that just because someone says "you probably won't get caught" doesn't mean that its a good idea or acceptable at all. But I do like the MTBeer Congress idea

    So to bring us back on point and summarize even more than DJR: OP was riding a trail that he's not allowed to be on, whether a blind eye was turned in the past or not - it's not allowed. End of story. He was pulled over and fined, and is now whining about it. We're not in NZ. We have a bureaucratic organisation in charge of the land and its an uphill battle to get permissions to do anything. Riding where you're not meant to be is making the situation more difficult for everybody. I personally see no reason at all why I can't ride the jeep track around Ou Wapad and Noordhoek Peak, but it's not allowed so I don't go there. What's the difference? I have zero sympathy for the OP.

    One thing that I notice in this thread is that the newbies and those with minimal posts are all advocating rouge riding and have a "I can do what I want" attitude, and everyone that's been around for longer is saying the opposite. So essentially, Hubbers are better people. Even Deon.

    Start from the beginning. Your GF will never be able to tell you everything. We rewatched season four again before starting on season five and it's amazing how much we had missed. Almost makes me want to start at the beginning again. Damn I love GoT

    I don't agree with this. Some guys can ride a lot, and so it would give them an unfair advantage. I work all week, and I have two young kids. My riding time is limited. Should I be precluded because of this?
