  1. Want as in freebie? If so, I'll take it!
  2. Forget about the bike - I want to go and ride there!!
  3. That's an epic bit of trail.
  4. Is that the loop off to the right? The downhill that ends at the bottom where the restaurant is?
  5. Giving Darkhorse wheels to someone who's already got Darkhorse wheels?
  6. I enjoyed the marathon - not as much single track as the Boschendal event, but made up for it with brilliant scenery. I didn't see a single bee. The last 20km was a proper mud fest - I was soaking and loving it!
  7. Can't wait! I'm going to be building my new bike today - this is going to be it's first outing!
  8. I really enjoyed my ride! Registration could have been better signposted (I had to ask a few people where to go) but once inside I got my pack quickly and easily (paid many months ago). The route was great, but sheesh it was not suited to a hardtail! I was getting shaken and bounced all over the place! I loved it though. Great views, great snacks at the water points (and awesome vibe from the people there). Having someone finish in 2h30 though makes me feel like a donkey... The worst part of the day for me was hanging around for three hours after I had finished and still not getting a lucky draw prize - especially as there were SO MANY prizes!! I loved the prizegiving commentary though! lolsies
  9. When I've flown with bikes I've always checked the sporting goods T's & C's before booking. Emitates and Quatar haven't had a free sporting goods allowance when I've been wanting to fly, so I've not used them when traveling with sporting goods (which is a pity since I like both airlines and have enjoyed flying with them in the past) I'v had no issues though using SAA, BA and Virgin - all gave me free sporting goods allowance in addition to my normal luggage. Happy days. To the OP - it's not really Emirates fault if you don't read the T's & C's...
  10. The last event they got it spot on - the route was well marked and it was as long and with as much climbing as they advertised. They seem to have gotten over their teething issues of last year. I hope that it stays like that! A buddy did the 40km and said that it was pretty boring with no real single track. I did the 70 and it was mostly single track!! If it's half as good as it was last time I'll be happy. If I was you, I'd change to the long route.
  11. I'm amped! I thoroughly enjoyed the last one at Boschendal - hope that this one is at the same level!
  12. My entry. My bike desperately needs some more bling! The spindly little aluminium rims just aren't cutting it. Darkhorse wheels would make this already light weight bike a real demon uphills!! I need them in my life!
  13. I'm starting to be tempted by a Chinese carbon frame. What do they feel like to ride? Do they absorb in the same way that a Scott Scale carbon does? Or is it incredibly stiff? Do different factories make more comfortable frames than others or are they all much of a muchness?
  14. I've used it (the latex version) and had no issues at all. I went through a minefield of thorns in Mc Gregor, and after pulling them out the sealant sealed them perfectly. Every single one. I have no problem recommending Ryder sealant.
  15. Is "Bennet's Red" not the Red Phoenix?
  16. I'm not winning again? This is becoming a horrible habit....
  17. You could run trails and tours from there to make some living money. Might be able to stretch it out to 10 years...
  18. I'd be happy with an "old" "hand me down" "backup" XTC Advanced SL...
  19. Awesome bike! I'd love one. No mention in the article about the change to a Fox fork? A bright orange one nogal. And the Chaoyang tyre in the front?
  20. Your block was probably too big. With the top closed off, you can gently inject some extra fluid into the caliper - you'll see the pistons move in a bit as you're pushing in the fluid. Then lock the bleed screw while you're holding the pressure in the syringe. Problem solved. Unless you let some air into the system on your first attempt...
  21. My time is also off compared to my total recording time on Strava (not just moving time), but I wasn't in contention for any prize money so it doesn't really bother me.
  22. Can't wait to get my new drone
