  1. I had Saguaros front and rear and it was ok, but not incredibly confidence inspiring. I could still corner fast, but just got used to the under-steer from the front. Recently changed to a Mitas Kratos on the front with the old front Saguaro now out back. The difference in grip, feel, confidence and tracking is astounding. On my first test ride I came within one second of my best ever descent time on the sketchiest descent around here (also second fasted time down there this year, so I wasn't dawdling!). The level of grip in the front is incredible! It just immediately made the whole bike feel different. Never again will I have a fast rolling tyre on the front!
  2. I see. I'm obviously frothing to get started, as I'm sure is everybody. It would be great to get in there and sort out some trails before it opens though.
  3. I'm allowed to accept gifts (am a partner in the business) but nobody gives me gifts
  4. Great news Deon! When will we be able to get in to start building / repairing any old trails that aren't destroyed? Can this be done before the trails are officially opened? Logic tells me that there should be no danger in doing that in the lower areas away from the harvesting? Or not? Are the gums at the bottom out yet? Or is that still a headache?
  5. I could happily sit in the trees around the gnarly sections and watch people come by. Add in more people, some cow bells, a braai, some drinks, etc and it would be a lekka day out.
  6. Lucky guy! At least he's been online more recently - 9th Feb. Maybe I'll get lucky in the next one.
  7. I don't really recommend the CWC one. I had one, but I hated it. It does hold a bike, but not well. You can't really hold a bike by the seat tube because it twists down - useless. It's also difficult to adjust the clamp jaws while holding the weight of the bike with one hand. And it's seriously flimsy. If you don't have a DH bike and you just want to use it to adjust your gears then fine. Anything more than that and I'd say you should get a real stand. Park Tool FTW
  8. I had fun sitting and watching the DH guys charging through the forest on Sunday. It was also my first time riding at the Helderberg Farm, and it was awesome!! It's almost all single track, and it looks like there are lots of alternative lines which are blocked off - maybe to alternate the trails every now and then to keep it interesting? Who knows, but as it stands there are loads of cool trails and lines to choose from. Can't wait to go back.
  9. It was a really cool event! I had a great time and am looking forward to next year.
  10. True. I wonder if it'll still work with the existing 10sp RD?
  11. This cassette with the 11 speed thingamabob for the shifter from Rapide and you're sorted! (If you already run with Sram) 11 Speed on the cheap!
  12. They won best trail glasses in the latest Full Sus too.
  13. They are really really awesome!
  14. Can we at least make this only for active participating members of the Bike Hub community?
  15. Who's the winner? I'd have a hard time choosing my favourite pic from those... And I'd love that Camelbak!
  16. The paint on my wall has already dried...
  17. I always let the cars go first up there. I always grit my teeth when a car comes up behind me there because they always want to push past when there is only 10cm clearing distance... Strava is auto paused anyway. Plus, the cars always look happy when you wave them past while sitting on the side at the front. Happy motorist, happy cyclist.
  18. One of my customers has the Evil Twin with RS-1, carbon wheels and full electronic XTR. I have to clean my drool off of it multiple times while it's here...
  19. This post is almost four years old...
  20. What more could a person possibly want out of a bike than for it to be fun. That should be the number one priority.
  21. Some of the other bikes so far in this thing have been quite nice, but this one looks like a clear and distinct winner. I want it. Bad.
  22. I used coke on a carbon frame - worked well. Turned the frame upside down and left the coke in it for 24hrs. Still took some wiggling and sweating, but at least it came out.
  23. Poor snakes!! Don't ride over them in their own home! If you can't stop then bunny hop over them. Those lazy bastard fat puffies probably wouldn't even notice that you were there...
